Breast to cup - how! please help me get bit of a life back!

My DD, now 7 months has been EBF. Refused to take a bottle despite numerous attempts and I am now reluctant to battle to itroduce one at this late stage so we have been trying a doidy cup. She drinks water (and spills a lot!) with her meals and will take a small amount of forumal from it but I don't think I can rely on it for a full feed?

But, am keen to wean her from breast as soon as poss. I was planning to have stopped by now and have a few events coming up that I am not going to be able to go to if I can't leave her with some other way of getting her milk.

Has anyone else succssfully made the transition? where do I start!

and how much milk should she be having at this age?

She currently feeds from me approx 4 times during the day and once or twice at night.

Help please!

tommee tippee cups are the ones I've had success with (and a doidy, but the tt ones they can use themselves). I am still feeding her but she has plenty of water/milk with meals now from it. Think I started at about 7 months and it took a couple of weeks maybe but she is 10m now and has been doing it confidently for ages.

when are your events? are they overnight?
Sorry - if you're sure you want to stop, fine, but if it's jus these events then there will be a way round it I promise

I have tried other cups like the tommee tippee but she seems to get on better with doidy. She seems to have a real aversion to putting anything (other than my boob!!) into her mouth! she doesn't put toys or food into her own mouth! refused dummy and bottle etc.

Perhaps I'll try another cup. I wondered if it might confuse things to try and introduce 2 different styles. Should I just pick one and stick with it? Have you replaced any feeds with cup?

I am sure I want to stop. I don't mind night feeds but I am ready to stop day feeds. Would be happy to give up all. Our experience of BF has not been entirely positive. She was very sicky when younger, is very windy and is now very difficult to feed in public as she is so distracted. I've also always struggled with not knowing how much she has taken etc

I have a hen night and couple of weddings coming up in the next month or two. Some require an overnight stay. But I also would like to be able to go out for longer than a few hours and not be anxious about the prospect of feeding anymore. Plus she has her teeth coming and is already beggining to hurt me sometimes!

I have wanted to stop several times over the past 7months so I feel that we have done quite well and I know she has had the best start I can give her.

Fair enough! I don;t think it can hurt to try 2 different cups. No, I've not replaced any feeds I don't think.

Mine was about 9 1/2 months before she was able to drink any quantity from a cup, she just hadn't learnt the sucking skill before then. I tried a lot of different ones! It might be worth persisting with the bottle if you need to wean her right now, otherwise I'm sure she will get the hang of it in the next few months. I would have found it difficult to wean at 7 months but found it very easy at 10 months when DD could drink a large amount of milk from a cup.

Nuby cup here, only one that worked for us until she was a bit bigger.
