I like my medela swing. You can pick them up for around £50 on ebay.

I'm very happy with my manual Avent one, it's quite cheap so maybe try that to start with and then if expressing is your thing you could investigate the electric ones.

Congrats on bump number 3!

Medela swing fan here, too. Got mine second hand but barely used for £30. Its fab.

I use an Avent Isis manual, is quite good as far as pumps go.

I think it depends how much you plan you use it and how long you plan to BF for. I use mine occasionally, just so I can leave him with a bottle, and my small cheap avent hand one is fine.

I don't need to leave milk with a babysitter in the evening as he goes to bed at 7pm and is unlikely to wake up.

Personally I'd say wait until you have go BFing sorted and then think about how much to spend depending on the likely use.

Don't buy the Tommee Tippee electric - it's incredibly complicated to assemble and milk gets into the air tubes. Disaster.

ClimberChick · 14/07/2010 05:44

Really depends on how often you plan to express. Manuals are effective and cheap and so a good place to start. Then if your pumping more often, you can invest in a more shiny one.

I also have a medela swing and now a medela lactina because I'm back at work(hospital grade rental).

Personally I didn't find too much difference between the the manual or swing, but it did set my mind at ease. I also know people who did find a difference.

Medela Pump In Style - unlike the Avent Isis I had you can buy different size horn parts for it - and that can make a huge difference in your pumping output.

Thanks for your replies i think i will wait and see has anyone else bought one from ebay or is that a no go ?

I always got along great with my Avent manual one, then I lost a part and replaced it with a Tesco manual one for £10. It's great! Just as good as the Avent one.
