Looking for non fiction recommendations

I’m due to fly soon and I have various fiction books downloaded but I like to take at least one non-fiction.

I’ve read Jill Duggar’s book, also a book by Nick Wallis on the Post Office on previous flights.

I was thinking of Virginia Giuffre’s but I think that might be a bit much for reading on a flight.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Murder on Wrotham Hill by Diana Souhami is one of the best true crime books I've ever read.

It's about the post-war murder of Dagmar Petrzywalski by a random lorry driver. There is so much detail about the immediate post-war period as well.

When the dust settles is very good. It describes the emergency response to many events this country has experienced. I have a specific interest as it formed part of my job but it's still a brilliant book without that level of interest

If you like a bit of history, I recently enjoyed Colditz by Ben MacIntyre. Any of his books are interesting but I knew very little about Colditz so it filled in the gaps nicely.

I'd also recommend The Five by Hallie Rubenhold (I think that's her name). It's the story of the women who were killed by Jack the Ripper, focussing on giving them back the identities that he, and the press, stole from them.

I also find Oliver Sacks books really fascinating, especially The Man who Mistook his Wife for a Hat - the brain is a truly amazing organ.

Instead of Virginia Giuffre, Entitled : The Rise And Fall Of The House Of York by Andrew Lownie?

All of these sound really interesting. Thanks for the recommendations.

My favourite non-fiction books:
Patrick Radden Keefe - Empire of Pain: The Secret History of the Sackler Dynasty

John Carreyrou Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup: The Story of Elizabeth Holmes and the Theranos Scandal

Lawrence Wright Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood and the Prison of Belief

I'm only halfway through but Place of Tides by Mr Rebank is absolutely brilliant

This is exactly what I was going to say. Entitled is very interesting. I have just started reading Nobody's Girl, it should come with a trigger warning. I nearly threw up and that's very early on. I'm not saying don't read it, but I certainly wouldn't want to start my holiday reading it.

That was pretty much my thought. I think it’s an important read but not recreational in the slightest.

I also think I may get it in a paper form (I usually read on kindle) so I’m not carrying it about with me once I’ve finished it.

If you like history then Tom Holland’s books are good
