Does anyone know any good books based on real events? I have just finished one of my favourite books looking for something new to read.

'A Life In Secrets' by Sarah Helm. A biography of the amazing and inspirational Vera Atkins and her team of SOE Agents in WW2.

Empire of Pain - about the rise of the Sackler family in the US (four Jewish immigrant brothers who came from nothing to create a pharma company that then went on to mis-sell opioids ala Dopesick, if you’ve watched it?)

Not non-fiction per se, but I've nearly finished The Girl With The Red Hair by Buzzy Jackson. A historical fiction based on the experience of Hannie Schaft, who joined the Dutch resistance during the Nazi occupation of the Holland when she was just 19.
Buzzy is a historian, so a lot of the story is accurate. And Hannie Schaft was amazing - she deserves to be better known than she is!

'A Life in Secrets' by Sarah Helm is a compelling biography that delves into the extraordinary life of Vera Atkins and her team of SOE agents during World War II. This book not only chronicles their brave and covert operations but also highlights their remarkable contributions to the war effort. Atkins' leadership and the agents' resilience are truly inspirational, offering readers a profound look into the hidden heroes of the era.

Try Father's Day. Not the one by Richard Madeley. It's a memoir, so non fiction, and published 2 years before Mr Madeley, came up with his title (Father's day)...after receiving a copy of the memoir for review... Though Mr Madely's has had some good reviews, and a few poor. 😉
