Audible recommendations for someone who doesn't usually like audio books

I'm having replacement lens surgery in a couple of weeks and for a few hours afterwards I need to keep my eyes closed. I'm slightly concerned as I'm usually someone who is playing on their phone, reading, watching telly etc and the prospect of just having my eyes closed for a few hours is daunting!

I'm hoping I can sleep, but someone suggested signing up for a free audible trial and listening to a book.

I've never really been a fan of audio book's so not sure where to start.

Does anyone have any recommendations of something to listen to please?

I'll have 4-6 hrs to kill.

My favourite books are The Time Travellers Wife and Ready Player One.

Tia!

It's double the time you're looking to fill but I enjoyed lessons in chemistry on audiobook, if you haven't read it

You could also download some podcasts OP for a free option? Then you can set them up as a play list so you don't need to keep selecting the chapters and they play continously?

To be honest I would listen to a book - I’d listen to a mild comedy eg Clare in the community on bbc sounds or my favourite Cabin pressure - last you a few weeks

Cumberlin’s treasure podcast has Cabins pressure and bbc sounds Clare on the community

I second Project Hail Mary, it's so well read, brilliant book.

I've just finished I am Pilgrim, again well read.

As a family we listen to the Thursday Murder Club series, we love these.

French and Saunders Titting About podcast is on audible and is really really funny, might be worth a try?

Ooh I hadn't thought about podcasts, I'll have a look at some of these as well. I haven't had much luck with podcasts in the past either, I'm not really a sit and listen to something sort of person but I shall investigate.

That Project Hail Mary sounds good though!
