Has anyone got any recommendations for novels suitable for a 14 yr old who loves singing, acting and taking part in amateur theatre. Thanks!

Have you managed to find anything yet @Booksasgifts?

Might be too late but:

The Swish of the Curtain by Pamela Brown.

Cuckoo in the Nest, A Spoonful of Jam, both by Michelle Magorian.

Ballet Shoes, Curtain Up, The Painted Garden, Gemma (and the three sequels) all by Noel Streatfeild.

Thursday’s Children by Rumer Godden.

Does she lik Shakespeare, Judi Dench has a book "Shakespeare the man who pays the rent" out. I haven't read it yet but I'd imagine it's full of lots of theatre anecdotes

Does she have the Hamilton book?

Dear Evan Hansen is a brilliant book.

I remember reading Susan Cooper's King of Shadows at school and loved it. If she likes the historical side of things and Shakespeare, it's worth a try.

I recall enjoying Susan Cooper's "King of Shadows" back in school. If she has an interest in historical aspects and Shakespeare, it's definitely worth giving it a shot.

The Whalebone Theatre by Joanna Quinn is just lovely on the amateur theatre part at the beginning, though it depends how mature the 14 year old is as the second half is more about war and I think there might be some sex in it.

I’m reading The Whalebone Theatre at the moment and it’s a lovely read so far.

Does she like Marvel? Tom Hiddlestone (Loki) and Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter) are in Much Ado About Nothing at the Theatre Royale on Drury lane. Top tickets are ££££ ofcourse but there are plenty of £35 ones available too.

I would also be very interested to know the information on this subject ..

Absolutely! King of Shadows by Susan Cooper is a fantastic read, especially for anyone interested in Shakespeare or historical settings. It blends time travel with the rich world of Elizabethan theater, offering a unique perspective on Shakespeare's life and works. If historical fiction with a touch of the fantastical appeals to her, it’s definitely worth picking up!
