Looking for a good book club read with questions

Hello I've recently joined a book club and my turn to host is coming up soon! I love reading but find that sometimes it can be difficult to think up questions which will generate a really good discussion.

Some the books (eg Eleanor Olipahant and An American Marriage) have questions at the back written by the author, but there seems to be no way of knowing if a book has these questions before ordering.

I'd be most grateful for suggestions of books which have these questions.

Litlovers often have questions - not all books but do for a lot:

Sometimes they are the same questions as in the books, but if there aren't any in the back it's really useful.

Sally Rooney 'Normal People' - we did this recently and people had a lot to say about it, and there's discussion questions.

I second Normal People - great discussions came from that and there's a TV adaptation coming soon. We also enjoyed Lullaby by Leila Slimani (although it's very dark!) and we are now doing the Salt Path which is wonderful!

The Kite Runner
The Book of Negroes
All the Light We Cannot See
A few my book club have done

Squigean thanks for recommending litlovers; their generic questions are exactly what I'm looking for if the book I choose doesn't have its own questions.

Thanks for the recommendations; I'll definitely look at Normal People and some of the other suggestions. I'd be interested in hearing other suggestions, anyone else? An American Marriage worked very well at our recent book club.

for me the best books are those that make you search more and investigate outside of what you are reading so they make you a more cultured and better person, also when those stories reach the cinema and make more people want to read the book

From what I remember a lot of Jodi Picoult’s books have suggested questions at the back. I’ve read quite a few of hers and they’re usually quite thought provoking.

I live in N.Ireland and have 2 granddaughters born in Dublin during lockdown. One of my daughters in law has asked if I can read a story for Fred 2.5year old and post on my Creative -Tonies App , so far I have recorded stories that I made up involving birdsong in the background and the sounds of children laughing as they play on the beach with sounds of the waves breaking on the shore. However Maeve would like a 20 minute story which will engage Fred while she sorts baby Tessa .any recommendations ? Thank you

I've just finished 'We own the sky' by Luke Allnutt. The novel was published in 2018 and is an emotional journey for the reader.

It does have a Q&A with the author plus a 'Topics for Discussion' page for readers groups at the end.

May be worth a try?

We just finished Girl, Woman, Other and I highly recommend it.
