Bright and quirky schools but not kids with major behavior issues?

looking for a place that can stretch or place according to ability not just sets. Also a place with excellent pastoral care for girls but a good emphasis on social ability etc for potential adhd and asd spectrum kid. Stem focus is a plus but not Oundle!!!

St Swithun’s? Excellent pastoral team. Good stem results.

Hi @ByRedTiger ! plenty of people willing to give advice on the forum so hope you get some useful answers!

Yes, streaming from age 5 has become sadly common despite the lack of evidence supporting this approach! 😑

What age is your DD?
Are you in the UK, or looking to board in UK from overseas?

Any other DCs or just the one? 😊

We are overseas but British. How small should we look for in the houses? And what would u say about benenden etc?

benenden was the number two choice for the family i'm familiar with. location was an issue as was the fact it's not weekly boarding.
st swithun's allows for those who choose to go home on the weekends (when the child doesn't have a sporting commitment) to go home and they provide bussing to a few common locations (one being london).
equally this means that on the weekends the number who are staying at the school is less.
if you're overseas the child would most likely benefit from full boarding with less weekends when children go "home".
ss has about 20 girls boarding and they switch the girls around regularly so they make friendships with everyone in their house (one big house for all year 7 girls), year 8 get their own rooms.

I’m not familiar with st swithun. How is it? We r overseas. Just need a good dose of caring pastoral care but I know that is so specific and unknown.

I’d say they have a very good online presence. YouTube tours of the boarding houses etc.
psychologist on staff, counseling staff and Chaplin. They post on FB every few days.
The head has been there a long time, strong advocate for sports and women.
