Does anyone currently go here and willing to talk about the huge recent drop in academic performance? We went to the chat last week and were concerned about the talks; one seemingly pushing parents to do pastoral care via an app and another saying most girls are happy with just average grades. We came away feeling that there was zero impetus to push any girl to get top grades and that the school has become a "sporty" school foremost. A lot of talk on value added which doesn't seem to help the girls long term, just the school, who now accept less academic students to keep these value added scores high. We have a lot of people leaving in our year group and are wondering whether to join them in jumping ship as at the talk several parents from other year groups we talked to said the same.

Can anyone here kindly advise what we can do?
Two weeks ago, we contacted Kent College to request a cancellation and only then realised that we are now liable for the full term fee. We had misunderstood the contract when we signed the agreement in mid-March to secure a place for our daughter in Sixth Form as a weekly boarder. We were not aware that, by signing, we had committed to paying the full term fee in advance once the Summer Term began — regardless of the conditional nature of the offer.
Our confusion stemmed from Jasmine receiving a conditional offer from Kent College, which led us to believe that the contract would only become binding upon her formal acceptance following the release of her GCSE results. This misunderstanding also explains why we did not cancel one term in advance and had only paid the deposit. We were unaware that the full term fee would be due from the start of the Summer Term 2025 — just six weeks after signing the agreement.
We are currently asking the school whether they might offer any support or flexibility in reducing the fee. Has anyone experienced a similar situation, or do you think the school might reconsider and offer assistance?
Thank you so much for any advice or insight.

With the recent announcement that KC are going co-ed, I would be looking at whether you can withdraw due to this major change. I know that the co-ed doesn’t start until next year, but you applied for, and signed up to, an all girls school. It will now not be that for half of the time your dd would be there.

Yes, people signing up for this school would have been comparing it to the other all girls independents (such as Mayfield, Walthamstow Hall and Woldingham). The school announcing that is is going fully co-ed would be a significant change to the contract you have with them.
