Are there any Effective weight loss plans that have actually worked for you or someone you know? The, algorithm has shown me so many weight loss plans but they so often feature white women or men and very rarely black people. I just feel things are different because we hold onto our weight differently. The only person I can think of who has lost a significant amount of weight is Candice Braithwaite and I know she's been working like a beast for two years now. I want to be motivated to lose weight for an upcoming operation but equally I feel very hopeless because my eating is all over the place and I just don't know if it's gonna be worth the effort of trying to get it on track only to be disappointed because I'm holding onto weight from Peri menopause hormones cortisol my shape etc. I want to go forward positively, but I just need some direction. Op may be in October. TBC. Current BMI is 32.

The standard methods for weight loss tend to work - your diet and your physical activity.
Eating well is the priority. Diets are only temporary so you need to focus on an enduring and sustainable approach to your health.

Find an exercise that you enjoy. You should incorporate weights as an essential. You can read into the science of weight training for women over a certain age.

Perimenopause - sleep and try and reduce stress which is easier said than done. I had acupuncture for a period to combat the bloating and then I mixed up my approach to when I exercise. So do it when I have the energy and generally try and focus on my eating as well as some supplements.

Maybe use an app to help you track your small progress to keep motivated.

I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago and the number one piece of advice I would give is to get as fit and strong as possible before the op, because it will help you recover so much faster. Walking, cycling, swimming, running, whatever you like, plus strength training.

re weight loss post menopause, you either have to be super, super strict on your diet and macros or you can look at weight loss injections.

There are plenty of other black woman on social media that have dropped weight. Also, have you considered intermittent fasting and a whole food plant based diet? I found that has worked for me in the past. Also plenty of water and lots of walking. Try purchasing a walking pad if you find it difficult to get out.

I'm possibly having a hysterectomy too and I've started intermittent fasting this week.
There's a woman on IG called bestbodyafrica that you could have a 1-1 with to help with nutrition.

@ReallyQuiteFazed I got a notification of your reaction, so thought I'd update the thread to say I've lost nearly 10KG since my last post through hardcore fasting. I'd suggest reading/listening to The Obesity Code by Jason Fung and Intermittent Fasting for Women by Megan Ramos. I do either three 42-hour fasts or two 48-hour fasts a week. I built up by doing 16, 18, 24, and 36-hour fasts.

I know it sounds intense, but honestly, once you read the books and understand the theory behind it, it makes a lot os sense.
If traditional weight loss techniques haven't worked, I'd definitely give this a shot.
