Why is my grey hair different to test if my hair?!?

*title should read “ . . To the REST of my hair. . . “ not test 🙄

I’ve been gradually growing grey for the past few years and have only recently decided to ditch the dye and let it be.

however, it seems as though my hair texture is changing because the hair that is grey never responds to a braid out or copious amounts of gel or edge control. it’s very wiry and has a mind of its own. As result my always feels unkempt even when it’s ‘done’.

are there and black m’netters rocking their grey hairs that can help in products or maintenance of grey hair?

any suggestions welcome!

Grey hair is often wiry. The shaft is kinked and uneven. No amount of oils can changes structure sadly. I'm not black but I have Asian hair which is smooth and straight and shiny. Sorry from the greys! I get a 8 weekly keratin treatment. Not sure you can do that?

Thanks for the response. I wear my hair natural so I’d avoid any treatments. That’s inter what you say about the structure, I find it doesn’t respond to anything like the other parts of my hair do.

I found that after I stopped dyeing it took a good eighteen months to two years for the grey (about half my head) to recover and settle down. At first it was both more wiry than the rest and a slightly nasty yellow in colour. (Lockdown meant people only saw it on screen.)

Now the grey is silvery and much softer, lying in swirls with the remaining black hair.

My hair is short and at the moment the product I’m getting must joy from is this:

Fabulous, energising aroma and makes hair and scalp wondrously shiny.

Should add I generally use EV olive oil (mixed with whichever essential oil suits the season) to moisturise. Can’t imagine switching to anything else as it works really well.

Thanks for your response. I’ll check that brand out. I think Learning that there is a change in structure of hair is interesting as I have only been focused on adapting to the colour. I follow lots of women with grey hair on Instagram who look amazing, but less discussion around how to style with a completely different texture.
