Dreadlocks question

Hi BMNs 👋

Can anyone give me advice on dreadlocks, I've had dreadlocks for over a year and would usually get them retwisted every 2 months, they have started thinning recently as my hair texture (Afro) is getting more fine then course... this and post partum hair loss has caused my hair to thin all over, my partner he said I should get a different opinion from a salon that specialises in locs, going forward, I however want to cut them off and regrow my hair into an Afro and keep my locs for potential use again, one day.

My question is. Is my hair worth salvaging without having to use extensions to thicken them up? I personally think it would be better to start again as my hair is uneven. But is there anyway to salvage damage without having to cut them all off and start again.

Anyone with experience or knowledge of dreadlocks, what would you do and why?

I think its best to cut of your lox and start again. & as you say, keep your hair as your lox can be reattached. You can really nurture your hair and scalp once its short. Massage Rosemary Oil into your hair and scalp, to strenghten. Spritz with water as well, our hair needs the moisture. Don't use too many products. Are your lox thick? Medium size lox as a start are good, and not too heavy. There is also such a thing as retwisting too tight. If you decide you want to have 1 last try at salvaging your lox then look at TikTok, just put 'Loctician' and the area you live in. There are many on there demonstrating their work so you’ll be able to see what they do, and you can ask for advice too/find someone you're happy to trust with your hair.

Sisterlocks are indeed beautiful, but cost a lot of money. Of course learning to retighten them is an option for the future.
