How to do daughter's hair.

Hello.
Hope its okay to post here.
Daughter is mixed race. I am white, Dad black. Daughter's hair is just like her dads, very tight curls and thick.
The issue is around her hair line. I don't know what to do with it. I brush her hair and tried to brush it back into her hair with gel but it doesn't stay neat.
I have watched YouTube videos that helped and i saw someone using a toothbrush that seems a good idea but specifically what products to use?
Dh family live abroad and don't speak English so couldn't ask MIL or DH sisters for help. DD is 7.
Thank you.

ORS Olive Oil Girls Fly-Away Taming Edge Gel https://amzn.eu/d/2c6Zpgw

Use that along with an edge brush (just Google it, they look like toothbrushes!)

Once you've done her hair, brush the baby hairs towards the front and use the brush to define the edges.

You can use the same product to brush the hairs back into the original hairstyle.

If you do it towards the front, remember to clean away an excess in her forehead and make sure she washes her face every day to avoid spots x

Hey,

I would use a slick brush rather than a toothbrush. It's bigger and easier I'll grip the hair better making it easier to end up with a sleek appearance. Something like this

1 Piece Hair Brush Bristle Hair Brush Beech comb with Beech Handle Used for Men with Thin or Thick Hair Styling Beard Brush amzn.eu/d/aXs9g3N

I use eco styler gel on mine and my girls hair found it best for holding the hair in place throughout the day and not damaging to the curls etc.

Also I'm not sure how you style her hair but using a misting bottle and styling when it's damp is easier on curly hair x

Hi, I hope it’s ok to jump on, my sister is pregnant and my niece will be mixed race, what products are best for babies hair and skin? I want to make sure I buy things that are suitable for her.

seereena · 28/09/2023 21:21

Hi,
I'd say like anything it will be preference of the parents but a good all natural product for skin and hair when they're newborn is raw Shea butter.
Good products for hair are Shea moisture kids range and I'd recommend baby aveeno products for skin and they do baby shampoos/ conditioners too which are good too.

Thank you! I have looked at the Shea hair range so it’s great to have the recommendation. I will check the others out too and run them past my sister & BIL.

I wouldn't buy anything yet, my husband has 4C curl type and our son is more like a 3B. You can't tell what the curl will be like so I'd wait personally.

I’m going to hold off on haircare, I’ve been looking at skincare stuff today, I just want to get the right stuff for her.

the baby could be white not all mixed race children come out looking mixed. But coco butter is fine for any child and is commonly used in Black families

Thank you, I’ve bought some coco butter and shea butter also.

Thank you for all the recommendations, it’s appreciated.
