What are you cooking for Christmas Day

Wanted some cultural ideas for foods to make Christmas special but as I generally like to cook on a daily basis but because of this no particular foods feels special eg jollof rice and jerk chicken or fried rice mid week, curries, plantains etc during the week, take always on Fridays, whilst okra soup, egusi and poundo etc on Saturdays EVERY WEEK!

So when it gets to Christmas Day, literally no foods feel special. I used to work near an African market and routinely even brought home suya or puff puff! So even these are no longer special

No attempt at stealth boasting and I know this is all a very first world problem but please help!

Hi OP, I too cook almost daily, so nothing seems special - jollof, eba, pounded yam, stews, ewedu, okra, pastas, stir fries, we even do vegan and vegetarian for weeks on end!

My mum lives a short walk away, and cooks big batches of moin moin and egussi! And she's amazing at puff puff and akara.

So for Christmas I usually do my fave cuisine, which is Lebanese, or choose a few recipes from my favr chefs. I choose a few Ottolenghi salads, I do a leg of lamb which I put directly under on the oven rack and roast the veg underneath that. Do a herby couscous with flaked almonds. Have also done gammon and even steak tartare (a Jamie Oliver recipe) and whole roast rooster.
