Wave Nouveau - 4b/4c hair

I have loved the pictures of the ladies who have done really well with their natural 4c hair, but after a big chop 3.5 years ago I'm thinking now of wave nouveau or whatever the UK equivalent is of Gina Curl.

I like the idea of achieving a 3c look with maybe a taper cut like the pics attached. I've previously had a natural taper cut and it just did not work as my hair doesn't really have a 'curl' pattern as such more a z shape to it. This means it doesn't reflect the light unless loaded with oil so it looks dry. I ended up having to set it on perm rods to get any kind of curl

Do any of you have a wave nouveau or any of the new generation curly perms? How have you found it? I want easy to manage as I have two little ones and will be back to work from maternity leave soon but I also want to look well put together

Those are beautiful haircuts, but those ladies have already got a loose curl, like a 3a or 3b, hence the large curls even when the hair is short or tapered on the sides. You say that you have 4c, me too, and it has taken about 10 years to get to the point where I know what my hair needs and likes. Cutting your hair already can seem like a good idea at the mo, as it will grow back, but it might end up being more maintenance to upkeep the style.

If you do go ahead with the style in the pics, will you leisure curl the sides every 6-8 weeks?
