Would this be considered cultural appropriation?

Is it cultural appropriation if a white woman wears a head wrap like this? I have trichotillomania. I'm going through a particularly bad phase and the bald patches are getting harder to hide. I also have sensory issues to add to the fun. I've tried beanie hats, thick headbands, shower caps, baseball caps and plasters on my fingers, but the most comfortable by far is this style. I think it's because the hair is pulled forwards rather than backwards. Would it be inappropriate to wear it outside? I've had a Google but there seems to be conflicting opinions.

Would this be considered cultural appropriation?

I really don't think anyone is going to be offended by this. And if they are, too bad! "Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right."

looks just like the kind of headgear women used to wear for doing housework when i was young, with perhaps a more prominent front knot.
also shades of rosie the riveter; safely securing stray hair in factories.
so basically work -wear, which is/was worn by everyone, all races etc.
i'd be v surprised if anyone took exception to your wearing it.

I’m a big fan of putting my hair up like this around the house and find it the most comfortable way of wearing a headscarf.
Personally I wouldn’t be offended. What irks me is seeing adverts for companies where people act as though they’ve discovered something black women have done for centuries, which is not the case here. Hope you are doing ok and getting plenty of support with managing your condition

I wouldn't be offended, I don't think wrapping hair is a black thing necessarily. I think the fabric you use might make it seem more like a black practice eg African patterns.

Have you had talking therapy for your condition? If not, it might be helpful. All the best.

Of course it’s not cultural appropriation. This is common headwear across all of society. Wishing you all the best OP.
