David Olusoga Our NHS a Hidden History

Has anybody watched this? I almost missed this one and I felt a range of emotions when I was watching.
The most prevalent emotion I'm currently feeling is anger & frustration. The Trust I currently work for is in the process of recruiting 200+ nurses from Nigeria, Indonesia and the Philipines. The recruitment goal is to help reduce the reliance on agency nurses, soften the blow of the inevitable post covid attrition & retirements.
The first cohort joined us a few weeks ago, they are in the initial stages of assimilating the ward routines and the British culture. They're all so young and fresh faced, in their early twenties but so lovely & eager to learn.
But yet I was told by a colleague that the nervousness & apprehension that I've witnessed, is being interpreted by some as "oh they're all a bit thick".
I'm probably going to write to the speak up guardian because I can't just sit with this information.
The NHS is on the verge of undergoing a well needed structural overhaul with the proposed Health & Care Bill, which simply will struggle to be implemented without ongoing international recruitment of health care professionals.
Anyway, this is well worth a watch.

No haven't seen it yet.
And please OP speak up about what your colleague said. Generations of black and brown people have had to put up with this shit.

I'm half way through it NurseButtercup. Humbling isn't it? Some incredible people there.
Sad, to say the people who need to watch, listen, understand , and learn from these documentaries, are never the ones who do.
