I am working with a team to help black communities in the north of England. The focus is on training and employment. We train people who then mentor black youth.

Yet everyone on our team is white. I think I’ve only met one black person at work since I’ve been here (few months). Admittedly, we are a couple of steps removed from the actual clients and beneficiaries...but still.

Would it bother you?

I’ve heard of it, I think? Is it good and does it have influence? Thanks

And I agree, it can be convenient to be blind to structural racism. Otherwise it would mean gIving up some privileges

Yes.

I'd have thought that based on your organisations aims the roles would appeal to black workers more than some similar roles in different organisations and would therefore expect a higher than average number of black applicants, which should result in a higher than average number of black employees.

Sounds like something has gone wrong somewhere...

@Greenlittle - sorry I don't know enough about them to recommend them directly but they seem to have a decent following and a reasonble amount of links/influence. If you're on twitter they are wroth a follow if you like the look of them: twitter.com/CharitySoWhite?s=09.

And they link to other interesting looking people/organisations.
