Kids detangler recommendations

Can anyone recommend a good detangler / conditioner? My dd has 3a hair I think - she's mixed if that helps. Anyway I've tried so many different detangler and still nothing runs through her hair like the main and tail detangler. I don't want to use something so harsh on her hair so I'm looking for something kid friendly.

So far I've tried

  • my little coco detangling coconut water
  • cantu kids detangling conditioner and daily hair spray
-cream of nature knot away leave in detangler

My dd is only 2 but won't sit still to let me detangle her hair in the mornings. She cries a little - I'm as gentle as possible but do come across snags etc.

Just looking for recommendations that would make the process quicker and less painful

I'd just use the one that works tbh

As a PP said use the one that works.

When you wash your daughter's hair make sure you are mean with the shampoo concentrating it on the scalp while generous with the conditioner concentrating it on the hair, as her hair will be less tangled when it dries.

Finally, try to minimise how many times a week you wash her hair with shampoo. This is because shampoo dries out the hair and curly hair is drier than straight hair.

Thanks ladies . I've ordered main and tail. I only wash with shampoo twice a week.

Should I put moisturiser in her hair daily? I use the cantu detangling spray which if I'm generous provides a bit of slip. I only put moisturiser on a once a week basis after wash day - moisturise and seal. Since her hair is so fine I don't want it to loose greasy or weighed down. I figured I'd know what to do with her hair being as I I've 4b hair myself but for some reason this hair type has got me confused and uncertain

It's trial and error I'm afraid.

I've been natural for years plus played sport with lots of women some of whom had curly hair, every single person did something different even if two of them appeared to have the same curls and density. (The only thing everyone was consistant on was using conditioner after every shampoo.)

In the case of my 2 year old DD hair - which is fine density with 3B curls - I use a spray bottle every morning which consists of water with dollop of conditioner mixed in. I then put on some Cantu curl creme and comb it through with a wide tooth comb. The density means it dries quickly.

As she is a toddler and puts stuff in her hair, I tend to see if water can wash it out before resorting to shampoo and conditioner. This means I don't have a dedicated wash day.

My toddler has also had her hair trimmed twice. This was because no amount of conditioner could stop the ends tangling.

Oh there is no logic to when she hates having her hair combed. It can be tangled and she will be patient, or it won't be and she will try to run away.

I use the Dark and Lovely, Beautiful begingings Ouchless detangler on my mixed race dds hair. We've tried lots but always come back to this.

Aunt Jackie's Knot on my Watch is great.

I've never trimmed her hair. Do you do it yourself or hairdresser?

Hairdresser.

You will need to find one who is happy cutting curls/mixed ethnicity children's hair.

If you live near any Greek hairdressers you shouldn't have a problem, otherwise it is a case of asking and not being surprised if they are unhelpful.

Cg kids Facebook group may assist. I have similarish hair type and wash once a week though appreciate Im not getting my hair messy ala 2yo

Have you looked into the curly girl method at all? I know not totally related but they suggest only brushing hair with fingertips (if you can of course!) and if not, a denman brush. Plenty of conditioner to slick the hair when washing. Maybe worth a look!
