The ultimate hair detangling regime

I find myself again at my wits end today on wash day. I have fine, possibly 3b type hair and a lot of it. Detangling takes hours that I just don't have these days with a young baby. Where if at all am I going wrong? I aim to wash my hair every week- sometimes this ends up being every 2 weeks, particularly if hair has been in twists for some of that time. I end up ripping through my hair and in pain from it. I do a mixture of finger detangling and then use my wet brush on wet hair with detangling milk in it. Any tips anyone? Do I need to be detangling my hair more regularly? Or using a different and protective hairstyle altogether? Please share any tips

The best detangler of all times is aunt Jackie's leave in conditioner. It's green in colour. Amazing! I use it for after taking out dds braids.

When did you last have your hair trimmed? I noticed with both my DD hair and my hair, different curl patterns to each other - that if it tangles getting it trimmed stops it.

Also since you had a baby recently are you having a lot of shredding? As your shred hairs coming out may be causing the problem.

@ThinSlicePizza I am using aunt jackie! But a pink and cream specific detangler. Thank you I'll give the leave in a try

@RedMarauder all good points, that does fit with finding things easier following my most recent trim all of nearly 8 months ago. The answer I needed not necessarily the one i wanted as Im trim-phobic!
I do find a lot of shed hairs getting caught. Does this point to needing to comb through more often?

Op you are probably going to have to detangle daily or as near-daily as possible until your hair stops shredding. Also get it trimmed.

It will take a few months for the post-partum shredding to stop happening but also make sure you aren't vitamin/mineral deficient as both myself and friends had deficiencies so it went on for longer.

Good to know. Thank you.

The pink one is useless. It dries my daughters hair too

ThinSlicePizza · 06/10/2020 21:39

Don't brush or comb your hair when it's completely dry
It's the opposite of what I used to know. Thanks to YouTube.

My 2 year old's hair at the back tangled like mad. Just matts really. The most effective thing has been Bloom & Blossom Matilda's Miracle Detangler & Conditioner. Its been a miracle. But I hate hate the smell. Too fragrant and lingers for ages. In reviews, people like the smell but its just not for me

Thanks @GingerScallop that's right where my knots are at their most difficult. Product added to the list
