What hair type?

Hi!

I wondered if I could ask the collective wisdom, would you say this is 3C or 3B hair?

It has cantu leave in conditioner and some African Pride water in (if that makes a difference to identifying texture type!)

Thank you, appreciate your expertise

My money is on 3B! I'll attach the curl chart thingy that enlightened me a few days ago.

Also, I think the B stands for beautiful Grin I'm loving these baby hair threads and it's not even been 24hrs!

Looks more like Type 3a or even 2C.

Oh wow OK thanks. His dad is 4C and I'm 2C I'd say.

The curls get more defined the longer I leave it post wash so I find it tricky to identify.

Doesn’t yet look tight enough to be 3C, in my opinion. But it could get a lot tighter. My daughter’s hair looked like that when she was younger and it just keeps tightening. I’d say it’s easily 3C now. Is your child reading Hairy McClary and Zachary Quack? They are great stories.

It was a lot looser at birth and is getting tighter - hard to predict! It also has lots of copper specks which was a surprise!

Oh yes we love Hairy McLarey! They are very enjoyable to read and the Jolly Postman we love 🤣

Not as tight as 3C and even 3B is a bit of a push. I'd say 3A.

Although from the updated photo I didn't see before posting, I'd probably go for 3B.

Thanks everyone. Interesting to see it evolving. For those of you with kids/close family children etc did their hair change over time?

My son’s hair changed over time. As a baby and toddler he was probably 2b or 2c, now as a 17 y/o it’s definitely 4a - he’s got a Big Fro!

Could you get one of those head shield/face shield things (not sure of name, sorry) and wash his hair over a washing bowl whilst watching TV?

Just until he gets a bit older.

There are slightly different styles.

Cantu spray conditioner/detangler. I will try to remember to post a picture tomorrow, feel free to tag me to remind me if I forget Blush.

DD (2) has hair that I'd never experienced before, and the tangles and brushing process were torture for both of us. Now, she will sit there and not even flinch while I brush her hair from root to tip. Absolute godsend.

Dd is the same age. We use Cantu/ Ors olive oil products

I was impressed that Boots have quite a good selection of Cantu products so I can collect my advantage points

Rochelle Hume has a boots collection called my little coco which I've ordered to try!

Good strategy on the boots points!

Boots are doing Cantu buy one get one free (or they were a week and a bit ago)

ASDA are doing Aussie shampoo/conditioner for £2 a bottle. The Aussie Moist range is very good for curly hair.

Some Superdrugs stores sell Cantu products but to be honest I end up using Boots and Amazon.

I can't give you tips on washing as my DD, who has similar hair, is randomly ok with having her hair washed and conditioned. In regards to brushing - I don't. I only use a wide-tooth comb on damp curly hair

I can't use wide toothed combs. Has to be a detangling brush for us.

Boots have 3 for 2 on Cantu rn Smile

I use faith in nature on my little girl. She hates having her hair washed fully so mid week I put the conditioner on her dry hair, and leave it for 10 mins. Then sit her by the sink and wet my hands, then doing the praying hands, I run my hands over a section of her hair, root to ends. Then do that all over. You don't need to get the conditioner out 100% as it works as the leave in.... Her hair looks so juicy and lovely now. Then I got one of those face protectors, for the proper wash where ill do a deep condition. Then wash it out bit by bit throughout the bath, so a cup at a time, play, another cup of water, play, and then 56 short hours later the bath is finished Wink
