Where to have your baby?

Hello,

I'm just wondering where everyone is having their babies?

I live in Bolton and refuse point blank to have my second baby there as I feel I was treated badly!

I'm 14 weeks and recently had 3 hospital admissions:-

4 weeks pregnant and was admitted with abdo pain and right sided back pain. Waited 30 mins to been seen by a doc after waiting 3 hrs in A/E. Doc arrived to tell me it was eptopic with no evidence at that point, I started crying and was asked why I was crying told her was it not obvious as she told me my baby was eptopic!!!!!!

Ended up on a gyna ward to be told I couldn't have a scan till next day when in A/E they said it would be same day. went home as I refused to stay and came back next day. Had scan and baby was fine, didn't see the doc that told me it was eptopic!!! went home as it was a UTI after scan.

12 weeks pregnant was admitted with chest pain needless to say it to took 2 days to find out what was wrong with me and then I didn't get an answer was discharged after having a CT scan. Was told the pain was probable the baby even though I was only 12 weeks.

14 weeks was working and ended up in A/E waited 40min before seeing a doc was crying and in so much pain, all I could hear the staff talking about was the night out they were all going on. Doc arrived again to ask me why I was crying and dont get me wrong I'm not soft quite the opposite! Told her why and all I could think about was I'm I having a miscarrage and the pain was in my abdo and right side of my back.

Much later to cut a long story short I stayed in 3 days, waited 2 days for a renal scan. Turns out I have hydronephrosis which is where one kidney is bigger than the other and you retain your own urine sometimes. I was put on Iv antibiotics and then on oral and sent home. My stay on the maternity unit was not good and the level of care I recieved from certain midwifes was dreadful. So I'm now thinking of having my baby some where else.

Anyone know of any good hospitals? I'm thinking Hope in Salford, could anyone advise me please.

Sorry for the long rant, just had to get it off my chest.

you could have a homebirth?

Was thinking this but I'm high risk, had complications with my last pregnacy.

Thanks for the reply.

ahh are they complications that are likely to arise next time too?
it's def something you could discuss with the midwife and see what she thinks

otherwise, ask about other hospitals, you can give birth at ANY hospital you choose to, so maybe talk to other mums and see if any of them have been to any other places and what they thought of them?
or ask your midwife, again, she may be able to say whether other nearby places are nicer

the other alternative is a birthing centre if you have one anywhere near you? although that might not be possible if you're very high risk too

oh, or would you consider hiring either a doula or an independent midwife? sometimes it just helps to have someone who knows what they are doing, who'll be with you all thet ime and can fight your corner if necessary?
