VBACing morale boosters!

I know there have been some older threads with lots of support but I'm going for a VBAC Feb 2010 and was wondering if anyone wanted to join me for chats and support and hopefully to share our success (or not) stories afterwards.

I had my DS 16 months ago by EmLSCS after 24hrs labour in pool, gas and air, then the drip with epidural, fully dilated then failed forceps as the doc used the wrong instruments. So I ended up with a section and had pain during it (horrific). My son was deflexed OP which explains why everything went wrong and slowly and he got a bit stick in the tunnel!

I met a MW yesterday who gave me loads of information but it sounds like I'm going to need to fight my corner (or get my DH to) to get a relaxed, non-interventional water birth as the hospital isn't very experienced in it. Ironically HBACs are regularly done in water and the MWs seem much more confident at home without the obstetricians breathing down their necks with scalpels!

Anyone else in a similar situation or have pearls of wisdom?

Hi, hoping for a VBAC too around the 1st of April. I didn't have any contractions after my water broke last time and had to be induced. managed to get to 8cm before baby got distressed and i was rushed off the theatre for an emcs.
been told i could not have a go in the birth centre this time around and also have a scan at 38wks to confirm i can still vbac.
but honestly im a bit terrified!

not in a similar situation myself but have a fairly good friend who was.

she, like you, noted that "Ironically HBACs are regularly done in water and the MWs seem much more confident at home without the obstetricians breathing down their necks with scalpels!"

and for that (among other) reason, she hired an IM and had a HBAC! which went fabulously well.

you probably will have to fight your corner all the way sadly, but have you considered a homebirth? could you afford an IM?
or, if you are definitely going to be in hospital think about having a doula maybe, i think it's really valuable to have an extra person there to fight for what you want while you're actually in labour as well as the lead-up to it

good luck anyway
