OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

evening all
Firstly yes thank you i did get back to sleep, thanks to hypnobirth thingy which is WEIRD but definitely sends me off (and DH has noticed it too). I'm still a newbie to all this hippy lark but considering my friend listened to it twice through - total of 50 minutes - before noticing labour was getting a "bit painful"....and 25 minutes later her husband caught DC2 on their bathroom floor.....i sort of feel it might be worth a pop...
Emlou just wanted to add my support and sympathy, it's awful how waiting can make the days so much longer isn't it. Some good advice and stories on here from people and we'll await to hear what your OB says on Thurs....chin up girl, you're doing a great job...

Love the lists...and the ensuing arguments
I don't have much on my list for the first few weeks - all you really need is a big packet of nappies, a few muslins, some domestic goddess friends with the odd meal (or a freezer full of ready meals) and a BIG packet of Kitkats to wolf down for a sugar rush. and some decent planning on Sky+ for those middle of the night moments.... Ooh or a DVD boxset

Caitni · 19/01/2010 22:00

DrSkid mine's also next Tuesday! Fingers crossed for us both - let's hope it's a lucky tuesday . Though sorry to hear you're also suffering with a demanding toddler - all these little ones must know they're about to supplanted as the baby of the family...

Donttry god, missed your post earlier - that fall sounds awful ...and then having to train it back to brighton (used to commute london to brighton so know how long that is). Glad the GP could reassure you that all's well with babydonttry though

EmLou glad you're feeling a bit better.

Caitni · 19/01/2010 22:03

Mummyelk just x posted. Yes, Haiti stuff makes me cry too - such terrible suffering . Am also assuaging guilt by donating as at least that may help (a teeny tiny bit).

BlueyDragon · 19/01/2010 23:01

Big hugs to EmLouT - thinking of you. I can add another positive story of prem babies - I know someone whose LO turned up at 30 weeks (and had been trying to arrive since week 24!) and she is doing just fine now.

Also thinking of the driving test takers. You can do it!

Things you can't do without: hand cream and muslins. You wash your hands so many times in the first few weeks that they end up like rhino paws. Well, mine did, anyway.

Am also suffering from can't be @rsed work syndrome, which I dealt with today by blitzing Sainsbury's for all the necessaries (sale is still on, I can't remember who was asking). Got all the disposable stuff except bricks, as they didn't have any left. So I am at least slightly closer to packing my bag. This may be due to the fact that my Braxton Hicks were so strong last night that DH and I were looking at each other going "Do we need to worry?". CBA syndrome not helped by feeling wretchedly tired and physically capable of very little - walking to the station is exhausting.

Mildly clingy DD has been replaced with heart-string severing DD, who announced to DH that she wanted to be a baby and get back inside Mummy's tummy because Mummy didn't love her any more. Mummy was quite glad at that point there was no one in the office to see her cry... Those with more than one already, any hints on how to help her on this one?

Shroomer · 20/01/2010 08:26

I'm going to air a worry before it eats me up. I keep waking up on my back. Of course I'm worried because I've read it deprives the baby of oxygen. The baby is kicking and everything, but I worry about any brain effects. God I'm such a worrier. Does anyone else wake up on their back?

siamesecatwoman · 20/01/2010 09:17

Shroomer I too wake up on my back - mainly because my hands hurt so much thats the only way I can get back to sleep. Im sure it'll be fine - lets see if pacific can help here? Or anyone else? Have you tried putting a pillow behind your back so that you are tilted if you do end up on your back?

Pacific Im still waiting for my referral to physio so I can get the splints. Grr. I think they originally had me down to go to orthopeadics but I think I would have had the LO by the time that came around..

Baby and toddler event on in Asda for those who missed the Sainsburys one which finishes today, I think.

Have a good day everyone

Pingpong · 20/01/2010 09:18

EmLouT sorry to hear your baby isn't putting on weight. The flat battery analogy is very descriptive I hope you get some answers on Thursday and at least if a date is set when baby would be better out than in it might give you a chance to make arranements for DS. Please do come here and moan/vent whatever especially if you are putting on a brave face for DS/DH. Are you still working? Would it be possible to start ML early and rest/spend time with DS before the baby comes?

I have to say I am very lucky in that DD hasn't got clingy - yes I get visits in the loo but that's just standard toddler behaviour. She is even sleeping really well, still napping in the day and sleeping well at night so I feel very lucky. I just hope the new arrival doesn't alter this.

On the moaning front I have to moan again about my heartburn and stocks of Gaviscon are dangerously low. Our surgery has started allowing you to order repeat prescriptions online however I'm not having much success - 2 failed attempts to date so all I've got is a tiny amount of the runny over the counter stuff and waiting eagerly to pick up prescription strength thick stuff today for some relief. I am also struggling to sleep. I go to bed early and read and stretch out in bed but I wake often with heartburn and needing to pee and once my brain is awake it is often hard to get back off to sleep. This morning I had been lying awake for ages and decided just to get up at 6.30 except when I came downstairs I realised it was only 4am! We'd had a powercut and the digital clock had reset it self !!! I did go back to bed for a bit but I'm just pretty tired and fed up.
Still no BH but lots of funny aches and pains in my pelvis and cervix.
My food bag contains polo mints, dextrose tablets, water in a sports bottle, a couple of energy drinks in a sports bottle, wee cartons of apple juice, some Jordans cereal bars, some choc chip Tracker bars, some twirls, some dried apricots. I reckon these snacks will keep me going for a bit and DH or my Mum can bring in more supplies if I end up in hospital for a few days (was in for 3 nights last time cos of emcs).
shroomer I think sleeping on your back is not recommended but I think some people just end up on their back at some point anyway. Try not to worry about it too much. I know I find it really uncomfortable to be on my back I have to swap from side to side. I do remember having to go to the dentist fairly late on when pregnant with DD as I'd cracked a bit off my tooth and finding it really difficult to stay on my back. I had to keep asking to sit up as I felt faint. I think our bodies are pretty clever and I don't think your body would allow you to stay on your back long enough to damage your baby IYKWIM.
Just a quick shout out to manda you haven't been on for a few days and you are usually pretty regular - hope all is okay and annamama you are quiet too.
We are getting to the point that if the 'regulars' disappear then we will be starting to drum our fingers and tap our toes and be looking out for birth announcements!
Head girl/deputy head are you setting us up with a new thread soon, we're getting close now!
mummyelk I totally agree with your 'all you really need is.....' Sky + is fab
caitni and skiddaddle good luck with your driving tests.
donttry hope you are feeling better, that fall sounds nasty.
sarah hope you are feeling a bit more rested now the operations are over and that DD is recovering well.
and a general wave hello to anyone else who I have mentioned in person.

Shroomer · 20/01/2010 09:20

I use a 'Dream Genie' shaped cushion - it's like an L or U shape - it provides a cushion under the bump and in the small of the back. The marketing says that it will stop you lying on your back. hmmm ... not in my case.

EmLouT · 20/01/2010 09:21

donttry - forgot to say - sorry about your fall - sounds very stressful! hope you are feeling ok today.

Shroomer - I wouldn't worry about waking up on your back - it is really only very long periods on your back that can be damaging - with DS I constantly woke on my back and he was born absolutely healthy and perfect - not so perfect now of course - having said he settled well last night, he woke up at 2am and wouldn't go back to sleep. I had to bring him into bed with me which I hate doing but seeing as I have a really sore throat I thought he might have one too so I gave in.

Good luck to the driving test people - sure you will be ab. fine! My mum took her driving test 7 months pregnant and she said the examiner passed her because he was afraid of her giving birth there and then - I'm sure your examiners will be similarly nice.

I'm sure today will be a long day, what with waiting for my appointment tomorrow to come. Was very tempted to pull a sickie and just snuggle up in bed for the day and try to sleep it all away but I think that would just leaving me dwelling on the problem and feeling guilty for pulling a sickie (something which I have never been good at!) I am hoping that my OB may consider signing me off work tomorrow - a break would be really welcome!

DH has decided to take me away for the night on saturday to take my mind off things. My aunt is looking after DS for the night (unfortunately she is then going away for the whole of feb) so we can have a peaceful evening, a nice meal and a lay in in the morning - heaven.

DrSkidaddle - re having someone come to stay when LO is born - I know it is something which I may have to do but my mother is the most annoying, selfish and frankly quite unkind person I have ever met so the thought of her in the house for a couple of weeks fills me with dread. Hopefully I will be able to convince my dad (who is wonderful and a saint for putting up with her) to come too to take some of the pressure off.

Anyway - although I can't be bothered, I really should go and do some work .

Shroomer · 20/01/2010 11:32

Have a light brown discharge (sorry if TMI). I phoned midwife who told me to call maternity assessment unit at the hospital. They've just said to put a sanitary pad on and monitor it. If it continues I should ring back, or if baby isn't moving (but it is moving as I type). hmmm I'm sure it's all ok, but no explanation offered as to why it's there.

Arcadie · 20/01/2010 12:26

OK Smac I'll get right on the new thread. I'm taking the executive decision to go for "Hello Baby - Goodbye Pelvic Floor" because I don't want to tempt emlou's LO into thinking that "Odds on we have our first baby before 1000 posts" is an invitation to arrive!

Arcadie · 20/01/2010 12:29

Ok then ladies ... after a lot of hard work and creative genius I'd like to welcome you across to the new thread.

Fully expecting at least Pacific and Siamese to keep posting here for a while so if anyone spots them send them in our direction.

Arcadie · 20/01/2010 12:30

And Mummyelk no weeing on the new thread!
