Ex's house can easily cope with 40-50 people (including DHs and DCs) as long as everyone was careful with the antiques (think National Trust but more homely). So probably 10-12 considerate families tops, depending on the number of manic toddlers included in that. As we have all met on the internet, there would need to a bit of sensible security stuff, such as me knowing everyone's names and addresses, for obvious reasons, but nothing too onerous or intrusive.

On a sunny day it would be even better because he has an acre of walled garden, well suited to kids running around or whatever.

College can cope with any number of random people, and the catering is very tasty and good value. It also has plenty of space outside and lots more toilets.

conkertree · 18/02/2009 15:16

course we will nutty - lots to see up here - just pick a week with nice weather and that makes all the difference.

BoffinMum · 18/02/2009 15:17

Conker, you are more than welcome to meet up in Cambridge anyway if you are passing.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 18/02/2009 15:18

yay thanks conker!

Right, hall is finished being painted. Now I just have to wait for it to dry to see if I missed any spots. Then I can touch up the miss paints on the ceiling and side walls and then put it all back together...I hope I can manage before 5.30 ish Dh just informed me he's coming home first then going out for his ride... poo

BabyBolat · 18/02/2009 15:46

Bleu - how do you do it!! really painting a hall in a day while 7.5 months pregnant! DH is lucky if he gets dinner made (tis my turn tonight and we are likely to be having jacket potatoes!!!)

BabyBolat · 18/02/2009 15:47

Hello - where has everyone gone!!!

Bleuravin · 18/02/2009 15:51

It was only one wall... about 4m x 3m... and I'm exhausted to be honest since I've been up since the wee hours...though I didn't start painting until 10 and took a 2 hour break for lunch and my hair consult (I would have been better served sleeping in some ways) I'm not sure if I should try a quick nap or get up on my stool and try to cover the mistakes I made by touching the ceiling... Dh home in a little over an hour and half and I wanted everything back together by then...though the pictures won't be going back up until tomorrow I think.

LuLuBai · 18/02/2009 15:52

Either Bleu's hall is very, very small or she is indeed a wonderwoman.

BB - I am around. Been doing some drawing and stuff with DD so haven't been checking too regularly.

LuLuBai · 18/02/2009 15:54

Sorry - x posts with Bleu.

Twas only one wall. It is still impressive!

I think you should let it dry before you start touch ups and covering mistakes. Then you will have a better judgement of what needs doing.

LuLuBai · 18/02/2009 15:55

Bleu does your DH cycle competitively or just for himself?

Bleuravin · 18/02/2009 15:56

That's what I'm thinking too...it means it won't be back together though before Dh. poo. But I guess there's no help for it. I can put it kind back together in an hour and leave the ceiling touch ups for tomorrow perhaps.

BoffinMum · 18/02/2009 15:57

Bleu, mine needs doing when you have finished!

Bleuravin · 18/02/2009 15:57

competively (though honestly he's never really 'placed' - I don't discourage him though because it's good to have goals, even if it does depress him sometimes that he doesn't manage to do better- but he just can't ride enough really to get REALLY good)

BabyBolat · 18/02/2009 15:59

LOL Bleu, this is where you and I differ

I would too be up early prepping and getting ready. Would paint the wall and be all finished and wait for DH to come home where he would be required to do the touch ups, put everything back together and clean all the brushes etc! Although I would do the finishing touches like hanging pics!!!

Bleuravin · 18/02/2009 16:02

LOL boffin, a bit of a way for me to go...but, I do have 1/3 of a tin left though...maybe I could do stripes? If you like velvet plum coincidentally we're using parchment on the rest of the hall walls...but I'm in no way going to pain the rest of the hall by myself (I don't think) as I'd have to go all the way up two flights of stairs and I'm really not THAt ambitious...

Bleuravin · 18/02/2009 16:04

Well the whole thing is supposed to be a surprise for DH... which is why I couldn't do anything until he left for work and why I wanted it all back to normal before he came home again...
It's one of the little things I've been doing for him all week since it's our anniversary week

BoffinMum · 18/02/2009 16:07

I did do ours in Farrow and Ball green a couple of years back, but the kids have wrecked it with their mucky fingers. I never wash the paint trays or rollers or brushes because I hate that with a passion. I just threaten to throw them out and buy new ones, then DH gets all flustered and washes them for me.

Isn't he lovely???

Bleuravin · 18/02/2009 16:08

lol that is lovely
(BUT, I'll admit one of my favorite bits is cleaning the rollers...reminds me of childhood because Mom was always painting some room or another it seems and it was a 'treat' to get to help clean up)

BoffinMum · 18/02/2009 16:09

I think it was this. It looks brighter in RL.

green ground

BoffinMum · 18/02/2009 16:10

If I wasn't married I would have to propose to you, Bleu!

BabyBolat · 18/02/2009 16:11

I just leave mine in the garden sink until DH finds it (although we do normally end up buying new ones because I ruin them!!!)

Bleuravin · 18/02/2009 16:11

Oh nice...I was thinking of a similar color for the baby's room, but ended up with a bright(er) green for the 'feature' wall and a softer(nearly white) green for the rest of the walls

Bleuravin · 18/02/2009 16:12

Lol Boffin

BB

LuLuBai · 18/02/2009 16:13

Bleu - you are such a romantic. It's lovely.

Our whole house is going to be F&B Wimbourne White

Goodness I am unadventurous!

(I'm painting the kitchen units pale powder though - crazy eh!
