Can I refuse a ECV?

I’m 37 weeks, baby number 3 has been transverse since my growth scan at 32weeks. Had a scan yesterday he’s still transverse, slightly moving more into the breech position. My BMI is high (classed as obese) and after my 2nd birth which I found traumatic I’ve asked to have a c section. I feel like I’m fighting a losing battle, nobody is listening to me when I tell them my concerns and reasons to not want a vaginal delivery. Now they are trying to pressure me into a ECV. I have the support at home for my recovery afterwards and I know it’s not going to be an easy ride. Has anyone been classed as obese and had one? They keep trying to scare me saying my scar will get infected etc because I have an overhang belly. This morning a consultant told me I’m at a massive risk of going into labour and the cord falling out as there is no head or bum to stop it. This whole thing is just stressing me out 😩sorry for the rant x

You can refuse an ECV.

However, none of us know your medical history and I'm a firm believer in listening to the experts. If you're worried you've got a rogue consultant I'd get a second opinion. If lots of the people involved in your care are saying the same thing then I'd be inclined to listen!

I'd get a second consultant opinion rather than Randoms on the internet. They're the ones with actual medical training.

While agreeing with everyone above - speak to the experts.

This was my experience
I was classed as obese with my last baby (4th) she was transverse and refused to move. They asked permission to do an ECV, I had to sign a permission form and was warned I might go into labour there and then or it might cause a problem so it would be an emergency section.
In the end they didn't use much force at all compared to what I was expecting and absolutely nothing happened.

I ended up having an emergency section for totally different reasons weeks later. I had an easy recovery and the extra weight did not complicate things. I have never seen my scar as the cut is hidden by my belly. Just make an extra effort keeping it clean and dry
