did anyone just see This Morning?

I switched on the tv and they were just at the end of talking about some test that pregnant women should do at 35-37 weeks. But I didn't hear any of the important bit about what it was actually for..... and the info isn't on the website..... just wondering if anyone saw it and what it was about?

Fluffsuptheduff · 20/02/2008 12:50

Huge congrats to all the new arrivals!

totally agree with the mat leave boredom thing! had a really bad week last week with just no purpose in life, and realised how much I have been defined by my job, which I LOVE. however have had a change of heart this week and it's all lie ins and slobbing around, and it's great. Got up at midday today, had nice brekkie, now on mumsnet, then going to meet DH for lunch, then probably walk dogs, then read book, tidy up a bit, then nice bath and cook dinner. I am really telling myself that this will be the last time ever in my life that I'll have this time to do nothing and be getting paid for it.

spugs · 20/02/2008 13:57

congratulations DLAMIS

good luck to shh and mm hope your holding babies, im off to look for the stats list

spugs · 20/02/2008 14:03

updated march dates

tori32 · 20/02/2008 14:21

confratulations DLAMIS hope you are bouncing back from the birth. ROFL atthe constipation debacle!

LOL at all the bored first time mums. Believe me your lives will never beable to be described as boring again. Aside from all the practical things to do with a LO, there is also the complete entertainment once they get to toddlers at all their antics and things they say. Fab! Enjoy the lying in bed together, breakfast in bed, going out with a handbag instead of a mini suitcase Not having to think about where or how you park the car to enable access for buggy and car seat

I'm itching to know what has happened to our water broken friends . Hope everything has gone smoothly for them.

Speak soon

doup76, im guessing it is to test for gbs there is lots of info here

its not routinely tested for by nhs although this is being investigated and trialed to see if it is effective in some areas atm

skidoodle · 20/02/2008 15:20

congratulations dotlookatmeimshy

i too am dying to hear how shh and mm are doing.

Jfly how kind of you how does one give an e-mail address here?

i just had my TENS machine lesson. it was ace. it's so tickly and felt nice even on the inside of my arm, which I hate having touched.

JFly · 20/02/2008 15:36

I think you have to enable something on your profile, then it allows others to send you messages over MN by clicking the little mail icon. Or, just put your address in a message, I guess.

3madboys · 20/02/2008 15:49

Cricketsmum...come on and introduce yourself...we're a lovely lot, really!!

CricketsMum · 20/02/2008 17:40

Hi all - Thanks turtle23... have only just gotten around to registering on mumsnet but am due in 4 weeks (met turtle through nct and she suggested i join this thread!). First baby and can completely empathise with so many of the comments on this trail - esp re what to do with yourself on maternity leave and getting my head around actually having a baby... Am Surrey based so will come along on Friday if that's ok - would be great to meet some of you!

derah · 20/02/2008 19:34

Yay, congratulations Dontlook!!! So exciting that the babies are suddenly popping.

I'm not happy that we haven't heard from SHHayls or from MM, but I hope that no news is good news and they're both busy cuddling their gorgeous babies.

So here's a question for you all... does crawling around the living room on all fours with a toddler on your back shouting "ride Mummy!" count as optimal foetal positioning? I hope it does!

Nesting is getting carried away. I was going to do a little dusting and polishing in the living room (aka dining room aka study - we only have one room + kitchen downstairs) but went mad! I had a big bucket of soapy water and ended up taking every ornament, book and CD off every shelf and cleaning and polishing the lot. TV and cabinet are gleaming, computer stuff looks new, dog splatter wiped off walls/cupboards/radiators (mud splatters from wet muddly dogs shaking off when coming home from walks). So our house has never been so clean!!!

All very unlike me.... I hope it's a sign that things are going to get moving soon. I've so convinced myself that this baby will come early (ie any minute) that it would be a nightmare to wait another 3 weeks or more!

Last night was Tuesday, my usual contractions etc night, but not even a single BH. Sorry Turtle, maybe next Wednesday?

turtle23 · 20/02/2008 20:27

Derah-You have another three and a half hours, so...? I did dream it was super quick! Probably best that it's another week, anyway. You're very welcome to come nest round here, it sounds like you do it well!

merryberry · 21/02/2008 02:56

Up, thought I was niggling as I lay there. Think I;m just hungry, TBH. Couldn't manage dinner, again due to nausea, currently having a toast fest and packing a few of the scattered bits for emergency bag.

merryberry · 21/02/2008 08:57

threw up toast at 4am, had diarrhoea, slept again. am now shaky and achy, period cramps, not contractions. wonder if this is my latent phase? hope so, don't want this baby to get any bigger and face induction next week. better warn MW. or is it all just wishful thinking? I dunno.

piggyp · 21/02/2008 09:00

Congratulations on new babies!
I guess Spacehopper and marchmum are now far too busy to spend time on mn! hope so!

Is anyone else going completely mad? Baby is due in 11 days and I've done so much 'nesting' that I'm really tired. I suddenly just want the baby to be born so that I can check it is OK! I've got eczema behind my knees - I think that's what it is anyway but in the night was imagining all sorts of baby problems. DH has got a cold and I'm getting sniffley, don't fancy the idea of giving birth with a cold and then the baby catching it too. I'm getting really worried about everything (not the birth, more if the LO is actually OK)- if it is overdue I'll be completely insane [crazy face]!
Any ideas for keeping busy without getting tired - it's the brain that needs occupying!

piggyp · 21/02/2008 09:02

Oooo, MB - good luck!

turtle23 · 21/02/2008 09:04

Good luck MB!
(something tells me tomorrow's meet up is going to be veeeeerrry small!!!)

OP posts:
JFly · 21/02/2008 09:41

Ooh, ooh MB! It's that lunar eclipse last night. Did you get a chance to see it whilst up in the night? No? Too busy being sick I imagine.

Hope this is it for you and everything goes well!

So exciting!!

Just me and you tomorrow then, Turtle??

JFly · 21/02/2008 09:43

piggyp any chance you knit? I have to concentrate reeeeeally hard when I'm knitting. Keeps my mind occupied. Try a crafty project like that, if you are into that sort of thing....

But yes, I'm kind of bored of this pregnancy lark and want to get on with it all! 2 weeks to go....

Off to reflexology.....

turtle23 · 21/02/2008 10:09

Jfly Think Purly and a couple of others are coming...I hope!! ????

Paranoid1stTimer · 21/02/2008 11:55

Marchmum and SHH - wonder what is happening?!? How exciting

Congrats to the new mums and bonne sante to all!!!

How scary and exciting is everything getting now?!?!?

Merryberry hows things now? You may be having your LO as I type!!! Good luck...

Can anyone describe their experience of "lightening" when the baby drops? MW told me the baby had not engaged at all at my appt on Friday last week. I am now 37 weeks and have definite pressure down below and the baby seems to be using its feet to lever itself by pushing on my ribs/side and headbutting my fandango... Ow ow ow... It is really painful in sharp kinda stabbing pains. My bump is agony just now. I really am concerned about my pain threshold!!

We had a house full last night for the footie and there was much roaring from the men and loud boozy type behaviour going on so LO got really into it (or hated it - not sure which) and this gave way to a kicking frenzy which lead to this new found pain (oh joy) of what can only be described as getting punched in the cervix or like the baby has grown huge ram like horns and is trying to get out early....

Any similar experiences???

Full moon.... I wonder how many babies are trying to decide whether or not to make an appearance this weekend!!!!

How strange is it that your body and brain and baby prob already know when the big event is going to take place but our minds have NO idea and are completely oblivious....

MissingMyHeels · 21/02/2008 14:10

I am so bloody sick of being pregnant, don't know how I am going to do another 3 weeks of this

Am 37+3 and measuring 38 weeks - not sure what that means? And only 1/5 engaged. It's gonna be AGES, I can tell. I wish there was a fail safe way of inducing labour as I would be doing it.

I just cry all the time and as I have been moving house there has been lots to cry about! In my opinion anyway. Just been to see the midwife and she was such a cow, really rude and patronising. SIGH

Exciting news about the impending deliveries and new arrivals - I couldn't be more jealous if I tried!
