34.5 weeks - feel sooooo ill. Is this normal?

My LO is due around 12th March 08 but for the last 2 weeks I have been feeling steadily worse and worse. I feel like it is the first 12 weeks again as I am sick as a dog and also have a bit of an upset tummy from time to time. It is not like a stomach bug or anything, it comes and goes all day in waves. Also, my bump is taking massive stretches every couple of days which I guess is right since the baby puts on all its fat in the last few weeks but honestly, I am typing this lying almost flat out with a sweaty brow as I feel soooo sick. The only thing I can keep down just now is sucking on ice cubes and I am sooooo thirsty I just want to put my mouth under the cold water tap and drink drink drink. MW says it is just hormones and this happens - nausea, belly tightenings etc but if there is no pain there is nothing to worry about.

Sorry for such a long post but I honestly feel sooooo ill right now - and I know there will be people reading this thinking "is that all you have to worry about?!?" but I just need some advice cos I am a first timer and the few girls I know with young children worked right up to about 34-36 weeks no problem whilst here I am crawling to the great white porcelain telephone most of the day... TMI. Sorry....

Help please

Get yourself to your midwife or doctor and have your blood pressure and urine and bloods screened! Please.

I am very surprised that your midwife is not considering the possibility of diabetes or high blood pressure. Sounds a bit too laid back tbh.

i was sick as a dog too, could not eat, threw up everywhere when just took a paracetamol. thought i had the flu. turns out it was made worse by the fact that my Group B strep was active making me really sick. i suggest you do not see yuor mw but see a doctor who may prescribe an antibiotic which is compatable wiht pregnany. saying that it may just be pregnancy related. though sounds like possible gestational diabetes. see dr and tell them your symptoms.

Argh!!! Thanks for the advice! I think the MW
I see puts everything down to hormones!!!

bethoo No way! I was diagnosed with Group B strep when a student doctor tested me for a few things when part of the placenta came away at around 28 weeks. Think I will take your advice and get to the doctor since MW doesn't really help much...

Yes MW doesn't seem too interested - just wants to get you seen and out asap and I am not really explaining to her exactly how ill I am feeling. It seems to be getting worse and I am really thirsty all the time so I don't know if that is dehydration from the upset tummy or if gestational diabetes might be worth asking about...
