I was just wondering how many are there of us . . .

I am due end of June and love my antenatal thread as there is so much good advice there but thought it may be nice to share a little with others who are new to this whole thing too.

Anyone interested?

Ok big decision to make.

It does not look as if The house or flat sale will go through for a while but my best mate who is one half of my birthing partners has asked me to come up and stay. It was actually her husbands idea he said he would come and pick me up, Sue said they would clear out the back room and make that my bedroom until when ever. Now they have a full house already, her husband (nearly ex) is sleeping in the litte'ns room, the boys have the back bedroom and Sue and little'n are sleeping in her room.

I want to get up there, I desperately want her and my doula to be with me not stuck down here. But I feel like I have so much to finish off here re the house and I am worried that the house will be really full.

Kaz1967 · 23/06/2008 19:32

Ruth often they are just one of those things and not significant but it does depend how much there is.

Protein can be a sign your kidneys are not happy and of pre eclampsia BUT are you doing a mid stream sample? I discovered that because the secretions in your vagina change they can contain hight amount of protein which can show up on tests. Try peeing a little bit into the loo before collecting some in the pot next time and see if that stops it. They may wish you to do a 24 hour urine collection just in case.

Sugar can be a sign you are getting gestational diabetes (more than often it is not unless it is a lot of glucose) they may wish you to do a glucose tolerance test. This will confirm if this is the case.

Hi everyone, I'm a first timer (due in December) and hoping I can join in this thread? Hope everyone's doing ok and not too worried about what's to come?

Kaz1967 · 24/06/2008 14:49

Congratulations and welcome Zoe

ruthosaurus · 24/06/2008 15:06

Thanks Kaz, and welcome Zoe!

Hmm, think I'll cut down on the sugar a bit (brushes cake crumbs from lap and keyboard).

What nice friends - how supportive is that?

cyteen · 24/06/2008 15:12

Congrats and welcome zoejeanne

Hello all, I'm making my usual flying visit - the ladies on my antenatal thread talk so much I just don't have time to keep up with anyone else but hope you are all well. I saw TJuice's lovely wedding and birth news a while back, how wonderful.

Well, here's my status:

31 weeks
made of bump
unstoppable eating machine
hormonal moodswings now occurring every 3 minutes
finishing work this week, MEGA YAY
so excited, so anxious, so amazed!

Hospital bag status: not even started yet

ruthosaurus I recently had a suspect urine sample after testing clear all the way through, but think it was just the result of thrush and mild UTI (sorry for the overshare). A repeat sample the following week was clear. I'm sure yours is nothing to worry about, but it's good that they're keeping an eye on things

zoejeanne · 24/06/2008 16:56

Thanks for the welcome - I'm pleased to be part of the gang

Zx

ruthosaurus · 25/06/2008 19:06

The results came back and there's no UTI, diabetes, pre-eclampsia, leprosy, dengue fever or anything else - all good, now wtf is it? Could it be Saurus Jr kicking the living hell out of my insides? Bad baby!

I have come to the conclusion that babies are weird and do strange things to your body and shall give up worrying for a couple of weeks.

I met my colleague's new baby for the second time last week - the little sweetie is 5 weeks old and looks like a tiny little old man! He's sooooooooo cute and just needs a tiny wee flat cap and a pint to complete the picture. Also, he thinks everything is a nipple and chews hopefully on arms, fingers, etc in the hope of a meal. And his socks are about half an inch long - awwwwwww (big maternal gush time). Can you be broody when you're actually pregnant?

I can't wait!

Kaz1967 · 25/06/2008 21:13

Ruth if they have ruled everything out they is is just one more joy of being pregnant, their job is to keep an eye on it your job is to chill out and try not to stress too much.

Kaz1967 · 28/06/2008 17:18

I was going to do hypnobirthing but because it has taken so long to move I haven't done anything about it. Today I found a free download on-line here just listened to it and must admit I feel amazingly relaxed. Not sure it it will work for the birth but it has got rid of my headache and I feel like I have just woken up.

Kaz1967 · 29/06/2008 09:02

Right I am off heed to pack up the computer ready to go to Lincs wash it have a bath etc before Sue's husband arrives no idea how all the stuff I have in the hall with fit in the car

ruthosaurus · 30/06/2008 10:23

Hi Kaz,

Good luck with the move etc, and don't worry - cars are always bigger than they look from the outside. We fit my sister's whole student flat, contents only, of course, into an Astra once and drove it back from France. And that girl owns a LOT of crap, most of which was just shoved into carrier bags and binliners.

I have to admit I'm generally pretty sceptical about stuff like hypnobirthing (also, I have a morbid fear that after the birth every time anyone says the word "push" I will do a chicken impression or sing Love Me Tender or something - for the rest of my life - and I know it's not the same as the Derren Brown kind of hypnotism, but still...) but everyone I know who has tried it raved about it. My sil used it and was done and dusted in about 5 hours from arriving at the hospital to saying hi to my nephew, so I'm becoming more open to ideas on this one.

Has anyone else been looking into hypnobirthing - and if so, would you recommend any particular books/tapes/DVDs?

Kaz1967 · 01/07/2008 02:10

Either my waters just went or I just wet myself Now sitting on a big towel as not a lot came out and think there could be more. Not really got any pain. Feel uncomfortable but had niggles all day. Feel like got bad period pain coming in waves every few minutes. Perhaps I had better time this that was less than 5 mins apart how bad do they get? Just feel like I need a poo

ruthosaurus · 01/07/2008 13:13

Um, Kaz, it does sound a wee bit like you're in labour...

Hope you're okay - your post was about 12 hours ago, so I'm wondering if you've had/having the baby now.

I've got to go cos I'm at work and I have to go and teach, but I'll check the board again in the break. Good luck and eek!

LauraT · 01/07/2008 15:40

good luck Kaz, sounds promising! I am now 40+5 and getting rather impatient with jnr. I've given it a good talking too and told it we had only negotiated a 40 week tenancy agreement, but so far no joy!

ruthosaurus · 02/07/2008 09:58

Any news? Am on the edge of my overcrowded seat here!

makecakesnotwar · 03/07/2008 13:30

Oh people I'm so excited- I'm finally back online. How I've missed you all....
Move was a nightmare, but we are in, and online. Now I just have to get the baby settled again......will not bother you with my baby concerns today, will just sit back and smile at the interweb

Ooooo- go Kaz!!!

rrrayray · 05/07/2008 22:13

Bit cheeky, but can i join, Due Jan.... But first timer, and my due date group Seems like almost everyone is on Second or more.... and using lots of Short hand that i just don't get!!!

ruthosaurus · 06/07/2008 10:08

Hey RRayray and welcome! Congrats on your pregnancy! How many weeks are you? Don't worry, you'll pick up the jargon or you can ask people what they're on about.

Hi cakes - look at you, talking about getting your baby settled, all professionally! Bother away, chick, I want to hear

Had my 21 week scan and Baby Saurus is doing really well and is a big bugger. S/he wouldn't show us her spine properly for ages so I was sent out for a walk around the block try and shift her/him. We're not asking to know the sex but apparently s/he was so coy that we wouldn't have been able to tell anyway. Spine etc is all fine, though, which is nice.

On my new, bigger scan photo s/he is sucking her/his thumb!

They've sent off another wee sample to the lab - I am starting to suspect a kinky lab techie is hoarding it for his own vile purposes as the results keep coming back with a clean bill of health... (sorry if TMI).

Hope y'all are having a better weekend than me (I'm working a 12 day week again).

rrrayray · 06/07/2008 15:50

ruthosaurus i'm 12 weeks, and praying daily that i will wake up the next day and the sickness will have gone. its hitting morning noon and night at the moment, and making it rather hard to get excited like i want to!

Am dying to know if Kaz had the baby Ok after the above post. guess the answer is prob yes since that was a good few days ago!!!

Excitable · 06/07/2008 18:16

I'm with you, rrayray - I want to hear all about Kaz's brand spanking new baby! I keep lurking every day, but nothing yet...

I know what you mean about those wee samples ruth, they've been sending my wee off for months now (I'm 35 weeks now) and I've never heard anything back. They keep finding protein in there because of the frankly disturbing amount of discharge I'm producing. Pregnancy really is not glamourous, or at least mine isn't. BabyExcitable was wriggling so much last night that it looked like that episode of Doctor Who where people's fat turned into little creatures and ran away. I don't think it liked my sitting on the sofa. By the way ruth, have you been to your festival yet? I thought my festival was at 35 weeks, but it turns out it's going to be at 37 - eek!

ruthosaurus · 07/07/2008 10:50

Yeah - c'mon, Kaz, how's it going? Hope everything is all okay

Nah, mine's in August (quick calculation) so I'll be 26 weeks. I'm looking forward to the festival but dreading the loos as I need to go at least 3 times a night and about every hour on the hour during the day. I'm going to be spending half my time queueing and the rest of the time looking for my mates... Glamourous it isn't!

God, I would LOVE my fat to run off and leave me. I feel like Waynetta Slob and my pants don't fit. Baby Saurus doesn't like it when I sit around doing nothing (or work, as it's also known)and kicks when it gets bored.

I took it to band practice last week and it slept right through, despite being sat in front of six saxophones and four trombones. So much for all that stuff about "your baby may jump when startled by loud noises". I do hope this means I can take it once it's born although of course then its tiny ears won't be protected by my nice insulating layers of mum flab (which will turn into little creatures and run away after the birth, with a bit of luck)...

Excitable · 07/07/2008 13:00

Here's a link to the little creature that people's fat turned into - isn't it lovely?? It was a bad thing, but I can't remember why. Mr Excitable would be very disappointed that I don't remember, he is a big Dr Who fan and is hoping Baby Excitable is a tiny Whovian. If it means I can nip off for 50 minutes on a Saturday while they watch it together, that's fine by me, actually.

My baby has slept through all kinds of music including heavy dub, but did not like the bagpipes at my friend's wedding (fair enough really!). Sounds like it might be alright at band practice. Mum flab amplifies sound, it doesn't muffle it, so you might get away with that one.

I feel like Waynetta Slob too, but don't forget all the traipsing up and down stairs to check on the baby will give you buns of steel - that's what I'm telling myself, anyway!

I am struggling with a hormone-induced temper today. I just feel like ripping someone apart. If it doesn't get any better, I might have to go home before I kill anyone...

Kaz1967 · 07/07/2008 21:23
