condom. no weight gain.

dinny · 16/10/2007 20:50

normal old-style coil with no hormones? or is it the coil you don't like generally?

other than that - condoms.

fawkeoff · 16/10/2007 20:58

hormone patch ca,,ed evra its fab i have been on it for 4 months and no sign of weight gain....and my cycle is only 2 days long

olala · 16/10/2007 20:59

condom? hah. condom = pregnancy in my book. I have 3 dcs to prove it!

however for those of you with a modicum of self control...possibly!

cass66 · 21/11/2007 17:38

apart from the pill, depot and coil, there isn't much left. as said above, condoms, female condoms, caps and diaphragms (not much used these days). the evra patch is still hormones and in theory could lead to weight gain. the implant is the same.

the only non weight gaining ones are the non hormonal ones, ie copper coil (not mirena), or barrier methods (condom etc, which are less effective) Personally I would and did go for the copper coil.

Hi everyone, is the patch ok for breastfeeding? I am debating what to use after the birth as I'm used to the combined pill and you can't use that if breastfeeding - my memory is not very good for the mini pill!(you have to take it within 1 hour I believe)

galaxymummy · 19/12/2007 00:12

spackat
minipill take within 3 hurs except cerazette you have 12 hours newer progesterone pill
fairly weight neutral

galaxymummy · 19/12/2007 00:15

mum to oliver
best pill is yasmin has antidiuretic effect
should be weight neutral
implanon implant not associated usually with weight gain
you could use condoms and diaphragm
or persona + temperature + natural methods
if you want no pregnancy copper coil lasts 10 years!

Cindy8798 · 02/03/2008 21:09

Hi remember that all bc medications have different reactions so what worked for me probably wont work for you.. you know my cousing was on the yasmin pill and she didnt gain weight well not exactly actually her 00 got bigger
right know Im on mircette and it have worked for me but also take in consideration all the side effects related to this medications talk with our doctor before taking any of them

mummyjenjen · 03/03/2008 03:40

the implant is disgracefully bad for weight control it might be ok if you do not want to lose weight but in my experience its not good i am getting mine removed on friday because i have been trying to lose weight since january i eat less than 1000 calories a day when the recomended amount is 2000 and i exercise for 2 hours every day. I went to my doctor and he said that i should of at least lost a pound in that time but i havent so he told me to get my implant removed as he reckons that is the reason im not losing anything. I really dont know if it makes you put on weight as i only had my baby 5 months ago and got the implant fitted 3 weeks after birth so cant tell if i have put on weight because of the implant or just kept baby weight.

Mimmz · 15/01/2012 02:34

In my opinion don't get the implanon if you don't want to put on weight, it's not the actual implant that make you gain weight, it's the craving for fatty foods you get, I got the implanon in the hope it will decrees my period pains (great success only one period in a year and no cramps bloating 😊) however I quickly shot up from a size 10 to 18 killing my confidence, stressing me even more I ate more! :(
Its taken over a year to get over these cravings and slowly slim down (which only began to happen once the implant settled)
I haven't had any problems with mine so far nearly 2yrs into it
My twin had her implant for the same reason and she hasnt been so lucky she now gets heavy painful periods which wasn't the case before, she's thinkibg of removing it due to this

Kelbells · 07/02/2012 20:48

Have you thought about Mirena? Although it's a form of coil it has a low dose of progesterone in it that acts on your uterus so you aren't affected with the same side effects as the implant. It also doesn't cause the painful heavy periods that the traditional coil does, they'll be lighter and less painful.

Mirena lasts 5 years but you can have it removed earlier....

You can't have yasmin or evra (patch) if you're breastfeeding as they contain oestrogen (Nuvaring is another good choice with oestrogen once you've stopped BF as it lasts a month)

Otherwise Cerazette or condoms....

Good luck making your choice Smile
