@Cornishbumpkin bet it was nice to get home do you have other children ?
I lost 850ml of blood was close to the line of having blood transfusion but they decided on tablets instead I was anaemic before so really I should of had the transfusion but no one asked me I feel really weak and waffy looking forward to that feeling going.
I'm feeling good otherwise day 1&2 were very difficult due to pain mobility and getting BF going since day 3 I've been quite normal been hoovering banging washing out even made some soup Smile been for a couple very small walks which was nice to get fresh air.
I know what you mean since I didn't get the labour I had planned and hoped for I was determined to BF and it's going so well x

umabb · 02/07/2020 09:05

Thanks for the thread ladies hope all is well.
Just survived the hardest four weeks (well with 3 hours sleep last night). Hopefully it'll get easier soon xx

Magpie21 · 02/07/2020 16:00

Hello, thanks for setting up this new thread. Let's get the last of you expectant mothers over the line! How are you @Magpiefeather? Anyone else waiting to pop still? x

peetieswie · 03/07/2020 09:35

Kept tryjng to reply on other thread and getting annoyed it wouldn't post! Finally twigged.

@cornishbumpkin I'd have never got her out without c section as she was just too big and the wrong way. It's hard feeling sad about not having the birth we wanted but then she's latching so well for breastfeeding so it's swings and roundabouts I guess. I know breastfeeding drives some people crazy. I'm still very achey and struggling to get up. On blood thinners and iron tablets. I think husband is still a bit traumatised as he was told to leave to room with the baby and then not told much and he thought I was gonna die. Mum said he phoned her and sounded so weird and she freaked too. Glad I was unconscious for that!

How's everyone doing? We've had typical hard to get her to sleep in her crib night but eventually sleepyhead and myhummy worked when I just shoved her in after she'd been asleep on me for an hour or so. Myhummy was worth the money (got it on fb marketplace but unused) as it has defo bought at least one extra hour!

Bloody starving all the time!

Cornishbumpkin · 03/07/2020 09:57

@mrssunshinexxx no he’s my first, I had a 600ml loss but had 116ml returned via cell salvage transfusion and bloods came back ok. Amazing that your feeling so well, mind you don’t overdo it though! @peetieswie Freddie was exactly the same, he was 10lb 3, 37.5cm head and head turned to the side so never guna come out naturally! that sounds so scary for your other half bless him. We have a Ewan the sheep which is very similar to myhummy and it’s really helped. I’m too scared to use my sleepy head even though I think it would help him. The snuzpod just seems too roomy for him.

UKtoSK · 03/07/2020 11:23

Thanks for the new thread! I’ve not been checking on here for a few days as I was fed up with nothing happening for me haha. Took me a while to find this thread, thought everyone else had had their babies and I was the last one left... anyone else still pregnant!?

Past few days I’ve been getting more and more braxton hicks. Last night they were every ten minutes but weak and spaced out when I went to bed. They carried on from this morning mostly ten minutes apart, and now this evening they’re getting stronger. Still mostly about ten minutes apart though, with some randomly closer. Hoping this is the start!

40+6 today.

peetieswie · 03/07/2020 11:31

C section buddies... How quickly did you have alcohol, or will? Non c sectioners, have you had alcohol with breastfeeding? I would love a small glass but the phrases 'significant bleed' and 'blood transfusion' are making me wait at least a bit longer. Would love to know what others are doing.

The gin emojis are still coming up for me so it looks like you're all getting pissed 24-7 😂😂

mrssunshinexxx · 03/07/2020 12:09

@peetieswie can't help with booze as I don't drink
That sounds really traumatic :( what day are you on now? My baby 8 days old wound is so much better last day of thinners for me tomorrow I'm on iron tablets 2 a day and eating lots high in iron battling against not wanting to feel weak and waffy and not wanting to be really constipated!!

mrssunshinexxx · 03/07/2020 12:10

@Cornishbumpkin I lost 850ml I think the cut off for a transfusion must be 1000? I wish I had one I have felt really crap with low iron
My baby is in snuzpod in a purflo nest and she is so cosy x

@UKtoSK That sounds promising! I was having tightenings that I couldn't feel (picked up on the monitor) in advance of my induction (Pessary) and things moved along very quickly. Your body is getting ready!

I delivered on 41+1. Do you know if your other half will be able to be with you after you deliver? I'm just trying to think of some practical tips to give you in advance of your time at hospital. My husband was only able to be with me from when I was in established labour to 4 hours after I delivered:

I placed all of my baby bits in zip lock bags and labeled them which made it helpful for people to find things and pass them to me if needed (this may even help other half anyway!)
The extra long phone cable helped
You'll drink a lot of water, so maybe a big water bottle
I brought a book to read which seems laughable now! Ha ha

peetieswie · 03/07/2020 12:57

@mrssunshinexx I lost three litres of blood, had to be put to sleep cos anaesthetic was wearing off. I'm on day three. Just managed a walk in the park! Also on blood thinners and iron.. Initial bowel movement was awful but have been OK since then.

UKtoSK · 03/07/2020 14:16

@Magpie21 thank you for the tips! Thankfully my husband will be with me the whole time. My hospital has a standard 2 night stay for natural birth and we’ll have a private room. Contractions have been getting much closer together but still fairly weak so going to get some sleep and hope they ramp up overnight! (It’s 10pm here in Korea).

Magpie21 · 04/07/2020 02:19

@UKtoSK That's really good. Well I hope things are progressing nicely for you. Your 'next week' is going to be very different to this week :-)

@Magpiefeather Hope all is going well? x

AnonyHB · 05/07/2020 15:41

Hi all. Baby Agatha arrived last Monday at 14.01 weighing 7lbs 5. Planned section although it was a last resort as I was 41+2 and didn’t want the induction. Ended up with quite a big haemorrhage afterwards (2 litres) but narrowly avoided transfusion.

For those who had section, how are you finding the recovery? My scar is quite sore and tender and tight and I’ve got back pains. Feeling very tired and other than BFing I’m mainly just laying around or sleeping whenever I can. Aggie has lost 11% weight due to delay in my milk coming in and her being a lazy feeder so we are on a 2 hourly feeding plan with minimum 20 minute feed to get her weight up.

One of the things I’ve been really surprised about is the vaginal blood loss. Almost a week later and it’s still like w heavy period and definitely worse after feeding. Are you ladies experiencing the same?

mrssunshinexxx · 05/07/2020 16:37

Congratulations @AnonyHB she's lovely
I also had a section after 26 hours in labour I didn't want to go on induction drip.
I lost 850ml and felt pretty weak and waffy first few days my scar is healing nicely it's obviously sore but 9 days on nothing too make or forgot to take my meds in the night last night so must be feeling better.
My back doesn't feel quite right though either ? Hopefully it's just the epidural still wearing off ??
Feeding plan sounds demanding but hopefully it works and she starts piling it on. X

AnonyHB · 05/07/2020 17:37

That’s useful to know @mrssunshinexxx thanks. I’m just a bit worried it’s still quite heavy after almost a week :/

Busylizzie85 · 05/07/2020 18:09

@AnonyHB I'm three weeks in now and I am still getting discharge it's heavier after feeding her or walking far! I think the bleeding itself calmed down after 2nd week.
It annoys me that maternity pads only come in packs of ten as you end up going through so so many of them, I must be boots favourite customer 🙈

AnonyHB · 06/07/2020 06:28

That’s good to know @Busylizzie85 - turns out I have sepsis :( so I’m back in hospital at the moment, hopefully can get it under control and I’ll go home tonight

UKtoSK · 06/07/2020 07:08

Baby Jia Rose finally joined the club yesterday on the 5th July. I’m in shock and pain and love. It was a long, hard labour but she’s here and she’s healthy and I’m obsessed. Huge congrats to everyone in this group. Birth is so different to what I imagined and I have new found respect for every single mother out there. Hope everyone is recovering well and coping with the newborn challenges.

Gosh @AnonyHB I hope you will be ok! Sepsis is very scary pls don't leave hospital until you know you are better x

@UKtoSK congrats! Definitely with you on respect for all women no matter how they birth . There's a reason why men can't carry children !!

Busylizzie85 · 06/07/2020 07:47

Congratulations @UKtoSK she's beautiful x

peetieswie · 06/07/2020 21:04

Oh no @anonyhb. Glad they caught sepsis early by the sound of it tho. I started shivering like crazy today and was worried about sepsis but turns out it was mastitis which had been really painful but think I've got on top of it with hand expressing and getting her to feed on it. Thought the pain would be over after birth but turns out there's lots of other things we all have to contend with!

How many still waiting for babies now?

Magpiefeather · 27/07/2020 05:35

Hello all, I’m so sorry I completely missed this thread! I have been meaning to update but newborn fog....

So I ended up being induced at 42 weeks, baby really not wanting to shift on his own despite many a stern word from me and 2 sweeps, all the old wives tales didn’t get him moving.

So I had the propess but that was enough to get things going. I did my hypnobirthing techniques, even managed to sleep in short bursts between each contraction somehow! Listened to music and shut everything else out. when things started to ramp up I asked them to examine me a bit earlier than they were going to - and with the blessed gas and air. They discovered I was 7cm, time to go to delivery. Despite being past the dates cut off as I was now technically 42+1, they let me use the birth centre and the pool which was wonderful. Lots of gas and air I bloody love the stuff. Baby was born not long after getting in the pool. Dh made it just 10 mins before baby did (we live an hour away from hospital). Baby was 9lbs 7oz and had wrinkly skin and long finger nails so was definitely over cooked!

Placenta took a while to come out and I Needed stitches for second degree tear which to honest was the worst bit of the whole thing. Baby latched on and had a feed. Once I’d done my two wees we were allowed home. Such an amazing experience and so so different to my borderline traumatic first birth.

So that was all on 6th July, baby is 3 weeks today and is a little love. He’s so calm and chilled as long as he is being held. Has started to be ok sleeping in his crib at night but not yet in the day. Only problem is he is very very gassy, finds it hard to get wind up and can’t settle flat on his back. Poor thing. I am thinking it might be reflux and seeing HV on weds so going to ask her if we should do something about it / look at medication or just roll with it for now and make him as comfy as possible.

Oldest kid (3 yo) is doing well and adores her brother but is struggling a bit with lack of attention. Baby feeedjnf well but still hasn’t regained his birth weight. Will see on Wednesday if he has yet or not.

I’m glad to read your updates ladies, I am so glad I found this as i thought everyone had stopped posting after they’d had their babies (sorry I did exactly that).

First day flying solo with two kids for me - dh back at work from furlough. This is going to be interesting!!!!
