Pania (pronounced pah-nya) - a Maori name meaning "woman of the sea".

or I quite like Paloma.

Thanks littlelapin. Does anyone like any of the names from littlelapin's link? I like Priya from the list but that is taken by my sister-in-laws new born.

Pomona? It's the name of an orchard goddess of some sort.

cece · 24/08/2007 11:56

Perdita or Perdy for short

cece · 24/08/2007 11:57

My friend had a Prea

fiddlemama · 24/08/2007 12:06

Prem. Like the idea of name meaning "love". We have a lady in our congregation at church who is called "Prema" which makes it sound softer/nicer? Must be from the same stem I think? (She is an Indian lady, though obviously Catholic rather than Sikh) Pretty name I think with lovely meaning.

Dropdeadfred · 24/08/2007 12:08

Prea means beloved or something similar doesn't it? I love that meaning

cece · 24/08/2007 12:09

Is Preti a Sikh name ( not sure of the spelling)

MamaG · 24/08/2007 12:10

I think Peta is lovely

WendyWeber · 24/08/2007 12:15

Perdita!

Heroine of The Winter's Tale and the 3rd grown-up Dalmatian in the book (but not the film) - lovely name!

It means lost but seems to have come to mean found instead

From LLs list, I like Parminder and Parveen

MadMumsy · 24/08/2007 13:11

How about Pernilla

MadMumsy · 24/08/2007 13:13

Or Pia or Parvinda

PippiLangstrump · 24/08/2007 13:13

From LLs list, I like Piaar (I wonder if I pronounce it correctly though).

Rajs · 24/08/2007 21:20

Thanks for the help. Parveen is the name I like most so far from the Sikh names. Will make a short list and decide.
