Any of you wonderful first time mamas due March 2020? Would be lovely to chat to you all! I'm thinking of potentially setting up a Whatsapp group if anyone would be interested? It seems that some threads die off pretty quickly on here and what with peoples sometimes busy lifestyles remembering to post on here can go on the back burner! I'm based in East Riding of Yorkshire, would be lovely to have other ladies to chat to about our pregnancies! Smile X

@HighOnStilts the sonographer at my 13 week scan didn't actually tell me but he wrote it in my notes which I read myself.

@sadtoday21 nope I don't think I've felt anything to be honest. But I've got a little bump coming along

HighOnStilts · 11/10/2019 14:41

@MockingJay27 I've checked my notes but nothing mentioning placenta! I may ask at my 20 week scan out of interest anyway, especially if I don't feel any obvious movements until then.

Have you all had any weird cravings? I've been dying for a McDonalds now and again but I've been struggling with a low apetite at the moment. X

@HighOnStilts I am always dying for a McDonald’s haha, but no not really I’m just hungrier in general, I weighed myself this morning and I have gained 6 pounds so far so I really need to try and cut down abit, I was on a strict diet in the run up to getting married in May so I think I’ve gotten abit carried away eating what I like now i can.

HighOnStilts · 11/10/2019 15:02

@MockingJay27.... Same! 😂 I've only put on a few lbs since finding out I was pregnant. But I am gradually trying to eat more day to day. It's just so difficult when I constantly feel sick.

Congrats on your wedding!!! Where did you get married? Me and my OH are getting married 2nd May 2021, I'm worried I'll struggle to get the baby weight off but I'll go on a strict diet myself.

@HighOnStilts we got married in Portugal at the end of May, we feel extremely lucky that I fell pregnant so soon after, I have been ready for a baby for a really long time so i was worried it might take us a long time.

You have plenty of time to lose the baby weight you will be fine.

HighOnStilts · 11/10/2019 16:14

@MockingJay27 I bet that was amazing! We're getting Married in Harome up in North Yorkshire. I love the countryside and my OH started his career up there so it seemed absolutely fitting.

Have you thought about childbirth yet? Any plans about what you'd like to do? I'm quite drawn to trying to get a birthing suite with a birthing pool in it if possible. I love my baths so I think that will keep me calm! I'm petrified of tearing or needing to have epidural and C-section 😟

OP posts:
MockingJay27 · 11/10/2019 16:33

@HighOnStilts I'm trying not to make too much of a plan as I know most of the time it doesn't happen like that. But I'm really hoping as natural as possible. Id really like to avoid epidural if possible because of the fear of forceps/stitches. But what will be will be, as long as baby arrives safely

Your wedding plans sound lovely and will be so nice to have a little page boy or flower girl there

sadtoday21 · 11/10/2019 16:50

@MockingJay27 sounds like we are in the same boat then! I am afraid I have also put on 5-6 lbs, but I guess at 18 weeks this is OK? I'm not really sure what the weight gain recs are, but I feel like its mostly boobs and bump atm (I hope anyway!). Maybe I'll make more of an effort in the gym now that I'm in the second tri. Congrats on your wedding!

@HighOnStilts congrats also on your upcoming wedding! Your plans sound beautiful. I'm also interested in water birth, but I worry a bit about sitting in all the (ahem) mess of everything? It would be great to find out more about how it works exactly. It seems to be good for natural pain relief though!

MockingJay27 · 11/10/2019 16:53

@sadtoday21 there is a pregnancy weight gain calculator online and it's well within normal range but still feels a lot. I think I just need to eat as much nutrition as possible and not get carried away with the crisps and chocolate x

HighOnStilts · 11/10/2019 17:15

@MockingJay27 @sadtoday21 Yeah natural would be lovely but you're definitely right, as long as baby arrives safely that's all that matters. I'm even cringing at the thought of forceps now!! Although I know someone who had forceps and said it really wasn't that bad - and she had twins!

I asked my OH if he would you sit in the bath with me and he said NOPE, not in a horrible way but I think the gunk would creep him out and to be honest, I dont blame him 😆 although I really wont give a sh*t once I've got that beautiful baby in my arms.

You girls suffering with your boobs? I have pretty big boobs to begin with but my god when I'm cold, especially my left one, hurts like hell and I mean to the point were it makes me cry! Poor OH is always ready with a hot water bottle as it turns me into a raging loon! 😂 x

Hi can I join too please? I’m 16+3 with my first. I’ve been lucky not to have morning sickness but had terrible reflux for a while which has mostly eased off. My boobs are massive and so heavy and get really painful sometimes and I already have a big bump. Got another scan in 2 weeks so can find out what we’re having then, my husband is convinced it’s a boy but I have no idea!

HighOnStilts · 12/10/2019 09:05

@Sunshineandgin Of course, welcome! Congratulations on your news! When are you due? X

OP posts:
Sunshineandgin · 12/10/2019 13:09

@HighOnStilts due date 25th march, they brought my date forward to that but I’m pretty sure it’ll be closer to the end of the month. Suspect I’m having a big baby!

HighOnStilts · 12/10/2019 13:38

I do wish I was showing noticeably but I'll probably regret saying that in the next few months, lol! My OH said he wasn't sure whether we'd be having a girl or boy but deep down he wants a girl! We had a gender prediction done and it's come back as a girl. Will have to wait until our 20 week scan to confirm though. I'm nervous thinking about it already! Can't wait to see that little baba again. X

Sunshineandgin · 20/11/2019 07:18

Did anybody find out what they’re having yet?

We’re having a boy, I’d have liked to have a girl but I’ll love him anyway!

Bol87 · 20/11/2019 09:47

Hi Guys - I’ll join you Smile I’m due our second daughter on 18th March! 23 weeks today. Second pregnancy, I’ve felt baby moving very early on! Since 18 weeks, she’s been kicking me all day long! I’m slightly concerned for my ribs as she’s gets bigger, she never stops moving! Grin Totally different from my first, I didn’t feel anything until 22 weeks & she was a pretty quiet baby in the womb! No correlation to post birth though, she’s been incredibly active since birth 😂

Jesskir89 · 20/11/2019 10:41

Hi all, I'm due 21st March with our little boy :)

als2912 · 20/11/2019 15:33

Hi everyone I hope you don't mind me joining! I'm due my first on 12th March 2020 - I've been feeling lots of movements lately which is really lovely and reassuring 😊 I'm starting to get to the point where I'm wondering what I should have by now or what might be too early to buy yet! 🙈

Sunshineandgin · 21/11/2019 03:30

My boy is super wriggly too, such a strange feeling but then I worry if I don’t feel him!

We’ve bought a few bits now, a second hand bugaboo in great condition and a bedside cot that the store had a good discount on. We’ll hold off getting a big cot until after he’s here I think. Still need to get a car seat.
I want to use reusable nappies but not sure where to start with them.
