NCT Classes

Hello,

First time user and first time mum to be!

I'm expecting our 1st baby in early November and I was keen to do the NCT classes as my friends who have children all said they were a great support network for them. They don't live close to me and I don't really have any friends around me with children or expecting.
I was also keen on learning how to actually look after a baby and just general tips etc as tbh I'm pretty clueless with it all.

However, our local courses are all fully booked and I can get on a course earlier, but have been warned that all the other mums are due about 6 weeks before me and I most likely would even miss the reunion.

Is it worth it if potentially I'm not going to fit into the group? My midwife has also recommended the NHS classes which I would be good for the factual, but not the friendship group after.

Thanks for any advice people can offer.

Some of the babies in my group came early and mine came late, so I think there is about 6 weeks between the eldest born and my son, even though we were the closest together in due dates!

I'm close with one mum from the group but have a WhatsApp thread with the rest and it was really helpful in the early days. Even if they're a bit ahead of you, it's nice to know what your one will be doing next!

There was about a 4 week range on our due dates in our class, 6 is only a little more.

Alternatively could you do a different class? Doesn’t have to be NCT. Is there anything else nearby? Daisy birthing? Or a hypnobirthing class or something?

Can’t believe the November dates are all already booked! Doesn’t time fly?!

I would still do it. Between the twins destined to come early and a mum due at the end of our due dates, there is quite a gap for us all. If you're going to keep meeting up, not having a baby in time for the reunion won't be the end of the world.. you can come and meet the babies! I've been really appreciating having time every week dedicated to learning, thinking, talking about labour and looking after a baby Smile
