40 weeks +2 days pregnant- methods to induce naturally?

I’m currently 40 weeks and 2 days pregnant but there’s no sign of baby 🙁I would try anything to avoid my induction next Friday. I’ve tried having a membrane sweep too but the midwife couldn’t properly do it because my cervix was “too high” I’ve tried walking, hot baths, spicy food and pineapple. There’s still no signs of baby Shock the only pain I am experiencing is period cramps and lower back pain but they have been happening for the past week, I’ve had no signs of labour at all, has anyone tried anything and it helped the baby arrive? Smile

Sex?

Sex/orgasm. My grandmother swore by it. She was quite the character.

All three of mine were turfed out via inductions but the closest I got was trying out a breast pump

No one can force you to get an induction, and chances are you'll have the baby naturally by then. Nothing non medical will shift the baby until its ready unfortunately but don't be disheartened. In France due dates are calculated by 41 weeks ago if you loved there, you wouldn't even be sure for another 5 days. It's a mindset. If you feel overdue, you feel stressed, and your baby won't be born because you are sending signals saying its stressful out here, just hold on for a bit baby!

You need to totally relax and let everything go. Enjoy the last few days. Baby will be here very very shortly!

So if you lived there, you wouldn't even be due

Should have proof read!

You are well within your rights to refuse induction. Try to relax as stress will prevent the hormones your body needs in order to go into labour naturally. Do some research into the reasons why medical professionals suggest induction, and see if it convinces you. I personally think that the latest evidence does not justify induction of labour for being 'overdue'. Consider the risks of an induced birth (to you and baby) versus those of a slightly longer pregnancy. You may find the 'ten month mamas' group on facebook useful. I personally agreed to an induction at 42+1 with my first child and would never do the same again. I would gladly go to 43 weeks or more, so long as i felt healthy.

PS - for whats its worth, I tried everything (spicy foods, driving over speed bumps, raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, long walks, sex, multiple S&S) and nothing worked. Babies come when they are ready and absolutely not before!

Sex or masterbation

I completely agree with the relax thing. Could you get a massage? Not a pregnancy trying to induce labour one....just a lovely one. Maybe some nice smelling oils. Book in lunch at a really nice restaurant for a few days time. Keep walking. Keep active. Baby will come when ready. But the more you relax the easier it will be. Good luck.
