Hi I am new and due my 3rd baby at the beginning of Feb. I am really concerned because my DD has just come home from nursery covered in chicken pox. Does anyone know how dangerous this is and if I am supposed to keep away from her?

if you've had it, you needn't worry. get an immunity test from your gp or mw to be sure.

i agree, get it checked out. up to 14 weeks it can cause probs, but the majority of adults are immune. try not to worry. speak to your doc. xx

You are stars. Thank you for the help especially Loopymumsy for the link. I am now quite reassured as I'm sure I have had chicken pox before.

Same happened to me chillgirl. Don't worry. Apparently over 95% of population are immune to chicken pox having either had it, or had sub-clinical infections (i.e chicken pox without the symptoms so even if you don't remember having it you probably have). There's tons about it on the web. Good luck with your pregnancy.

chillgirl - My DS has had chickenpox this week and as I'm 8 weeks I had a blood test on Tues with local practice nurse to double check I was immune. Which I was but it was good to put my mind at rest. We've got enough to worry about in our first trimester haven't we?!
