Does anyone have any recommendations as to whether I should choose the Wittington or Royal Free to give birth? Other than the Wittington being on my tube line I don't know a way of distinguishing and would be grateful for any insider knowledge anyone may have.

Not my area so I don't know but if you don't get any luck with your question here then try it in the 'pregnancy' section, as there are lots of similar questions there, but people might not look on ante-natal other than for their month's thread.

Get to pregnany section by going to talk and then the pregnancy option is 2 below antenatal.

I had my first three pregnancy at the whittington and recieved really good ante natal care. My first pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 20 weeks and my consultant was really supportive in my next two pregnancies, I had an appointmanet with her or her registrar every two weeks. The midwives in the delivery suite were very good although I didn't make it to the delivery suite with DD2 as she made a fast apperance on to the ante natal ward. The midwifes on the post natal ward always seemed busy during the day but I think that's the smae for every where. Good luck woth your choice.

i have attended births at both. Both were fab. I found the mw's at the whittington very hands off which was great - it really let the mum birth instinctively. the royal free waas also nice - certainly a better environment and look - mws was very nice aswell - didnt get a huge feel of the place as we were in and out so quick (2hrs!)

I had my son at the Royal Free in 2005 and will be returning in July to have my second baby. I loved it - was very lucky and had swift ( 2 hour) labour in the Birth Centre, allowed to do whatever I wanted, mainly just ran around keeping upright til he came out. Partner allowed to stay over night, clean, lovely views over the Heath and very, very kind midwives and doctors. They are deeply committed to letting women get the kinds of labours they want to have by the way. I couldnt' recommend it highly enough. Good luck.
