All I do is eat boxes!! I had my whooping cough jab about two weeks ago and no issues at all!

TheLionQueen1 · 27/07/2017 14:30

Obviously I do not eat boxes but was indeed addressing boxes...this is not some weird pregnancy craving of mine Grin

GimbleInTheWabe · 27/07/2017 14:35

I thought I'd have an insatiable appetite but if anything I think I'm probably eating less.. don't worry I am still enjoying biscuits every night but I'm usually such a snacker that I assumed it would go up a notch but I am more likely to forget to eat now.

Also I am totally inexcusably annoyed that I was meant to be going out for a Thai with my girl friends tonight and the organiser has changed it to a 'chilled evening in with some oven pizzas'. I wanted Thai so badly! ~ Has princess moment ~ also they live in a really annoying place to get to and the restaurant was just one tube journey away Hmm Okay I'll go back to being reasonable now haha

So hungry here as well - made the mistake of weighing myself and its really jumped up in the last week or so - has anyone else had this?

I have also gone from having no sweet tooth to craving biscuits and cakes - not so healthy for the baby!! Was away in Somerset over the weekend and had two cream teas - blissful!

boxesoffrogs · 27/07/2017 20:02

Haha, lionqueen, that did make me chuckle. Had jab, all ok. Felt she stabbed me in the arm quite unnecessarily hard though Confused

Just went to see Dunkirk. Spent the whole time with my jacket on my lap trying to protect the baby from the noise, it was very very loud!!!! From the kicking going on I sense she was not best pleased and I hope it will not have any lasting damage...

KitKatSplat · 27/07/2017 20:35

boxes I watched Dunkirk last night too! I really wouldn't worry about the noise. They're pretty well cushioned in there what with our organs, the amniotic fluid, and skin. I felt well nauseous during some of the flight shots.

Cath I haven't weighed myself since falling pregnant. Really, what is the point? The midwives weigh us anyway and tell us if there is anything wrong. If we do it, all we are doing is beating ourselves up and making ourselves miserable unnecessarily.

Rayna37 · 27/07/2017 20:59

kitkatsplat does your midwife weigh you?! Mine never has! I even just gave my weight myself at my booking in appointment as far as I recall (could be wrong). Only time I've been weighed has been at the hospital before the two scans.

TheLionQueen1 · 27/07/2017 21:02

Mine weighed me at Booking in and apparently will again at 36 weeks I think she said!

doomkittycleo · 27/07/2017 22:14

@boxes don't worry about the whooping cough vaccine. My arm went very red and it looked like sunburn, was also a little itchy, but didn't hurt at all.

Went away after about a week, but was fine.

PingusMistress · 27/07/2017 22:45

My midwife doesn't weigh me but I've been keeping a log, I did in my last pregnancy too and it has been interesting to compare. The weird thing is that I weigh exactly the same as I did at this point last time, although I started off heavier and I definitely look bigger! I guess everything is just more stretchy now.

I got an email from boots today with a sample birth plan in case it helps anyone:
www.boots.com/resource/blob/150518/d666fd985522f38739f21d2f1f025dcf/birth-plan-data.pdf
I stuck to my previous birth plan until the last couple of hours when it basically turned into "anything to get this baby out of me now!"

@Cineraria the weaning kit is basically the same as the bum wipes kit but with prettier wipes, no dirty wipes box (they go straight into the washing basket) and some different oil. It would be easy to make one yourself with some old flannels and a plastic lock-tight box I think. We did baby led weaning so it was very useful!

PingusMistress · 27/07/2017 22:55

Oh, and DD (3) asked me today how babies get out of mummies' tummies. I tried to be truthful without using too many big words and it seemed to satisfy her. She will probably share her new knowledge with the postman, supermarket worker, waitress or anyone else she meets over the next few days Grin

SophieGiroux · 28/07/2017 00:11

Yes I've had a 4d scan but baby was hiding so we didn't get any good pics so going back again next week for another try, luckily no extra charge! We did see a glimpse of some thumb sucking and definitely confirmed it's a girl.

Cineraria · 28/07/2017 07:41

Thanks, Pingusmistress, we did BLW too with DS but I gave up trying to wipe the food off him after a couple of days and having escalated from a normal cheeky wipe or two to a small silicone spatula, fine tooth comb and a wet hand towel and just sat him on the side of the kitchen sink and slooshed off the debris! Luckily he likes that a lot and still loves splashy water. He is just so messy and loves soft foods like homous, mashed potato, weetabix and thick soup, stuff in sauce etc. Even now he uses cutlery, we have to put him in a rubbery neck and chest bib and one over that to cover his full arms, front and even complete cover of his back, plus a pocket to catch everything and he still usually needs a good sloosh. I'm not put off though; I'll definitely aim for BLW with the next one. I really liked it.

KitKatSplat · 28/07/2017 08:40

Rayna yes, I thought this was the case for everyone but apparently not!

Pingu Thanks for the birth plan!

mummabubs · 28/07/2017 09:11

I just read your latest update @mrsbumblebees and thought I'd update too- I had my '28 week' appointment yesterday (at 29+6 as midwife didn't have any free ones before that!) and I mentioned that I've been starting to feel fed up of people at work, friends and even strangers asking how far along I am and then looking at bump and commenting "my god you're huge" or "are they sure it's not twins in there?" The greatest irony then being that midwife measured me and my "huge" bump is actually measuring 3 weeks behind (27cm at v near 30 weeks) so she's booked a growth scan for me on Monday straight away. I'm still feeling movements and the heartbeat sounded nice and beat-y so I'm not overly worried yet, to be honest I'm partly just relieved at maybe not being as huge as tactless people keep telling me and like you said I'm viewing it as another chance to see Bubbabean on Monday 😊 Hope your next measurement goes well xx

mrsbumblebees · 28/07/2017 09:45

Thanks mummabubs - people are so insensitive aren't they!? And I'm not sure what makes everyone think they are an expert on what size a bump should be at what stage! Even my midwife comes out with some clangers - at both of my last two appointments when I've walked in she has said "oh remind me how far along you are - is it 16 weeks?" Arggggh!!!! And when I do tell people I'm over 6 months they go "oh my god are you sure, you're so tiny!!!". Which feels to me like they are implying there must be something wrong!!! Angry

Hope all goes well at your scan on Monday, I kind of wish they had just bitten the bullet and sent me for one yesterday as I feel it's inevitable so they might as well just get on with it! On the plus side I feel like my bump has grown loads recently and movements have been increasing and getting nice and regular over the last couple of weeks so that must be a good sign, especially as baby was measuring fine on the scan 4 weeks ago and bump has definitely expanded since then!

boxesoffrogs · 28/07/2017 10:00

Ugh mrsbumblebees exact same thing happened to me at 25 week check. Didn't see usual midwife, so walked in and replacement midwife looked at me and said 'sixteen weeks?'. Ummm, no. But thanks for making me worried and paranoid.
Not as bad as yesterday when I went for the whooping cough jab, nurse asked why I was there, I told her, she asked who had told me to get the jab so I told her it was the midwife, she looked at me and said 'oh, so you're pregnant are you?'. No, I am here for my own amusement because I enjoy pain. Plus I do have a bump, I do!!!!! But like you said, trying not to worry as bump has grown and movements are all there (in freaky 3D when she decides to move from one side to another...).
Got to go to a different hospital to get my anti d jab today, and replacement midwife wasn't sure if they were going to do a 28 week check whilst I was there, but 'not to worry because if they don't, just ring up normal midwife and you can book one in for next week'. When I am away for a wedding. Goodo. I really really really do appreciate the amazing job that the NHS do (I wouldn't be here without it!), but sometimes I do wonder how the organisation works!
Anyway, first thing my original midwife (I am losing count of how many I've seen and who's who) said was to step away from Google and never compare yourself to anyone else, as each pregnancy is different. So hope that is sage advice.
Oooh I have just had a really random and probably extremely stupid and naive thought. Please don't laugh at my ignorance, but is it the midwife you see regularly the one who is there at the birth??

mrsbumblebees · 28/07/2017 10:09

I've wondered the same, not a stupid question! I honestly don't have a clue!

boxesoffrogs · 28/07/2017 10:14

Haha! Glad I am not the only clueless one! Hopefully wiser people will be able to put us straight.
Ok, because I am extremely odd and also a glutton for punishment/worry, I just looked at my bump in the mirror, sucked my tummy in and discovered I can practically make my bump disappear... Shock baby wasn't best pleased by my experiment, but now I am really concerned. Will see if I can get midwife (or whoever I end up actually seeing for whatever reason it is today) can measure me and put my mind at ease. Or not. Ahh the worry!

mrsbumblebees · 28/07/2017 10:35

Oooh have you not been measured yet? If you do measure small please don't panic, I had a total meltdown when they first told me I was measuring 4 or 5 weeks behind but baby was fine on the scan, with longer than average legs and a nice fat tummy, and estimated weight on 43rd centile, so not a tiny baby, just well hidden!!

mrsbumblebees · 28/07/2017 11:10

*Just to add, I'm certain that being able to suck your tummy in to hide your bump is no cause for concern Smile I reckon I could do the same!

mummabubs · 28/07/2017 11:13

That's what I figure mrsbumble, no point in panicking just yet!! And boxes- my sister's SiL had her first baby a month ago, she looked very small (even at the very end she had virtually no bump) and I know felt upset at people's comments throughout pregnancy about how small she was, but her daughter was nearly 7lbs when born so totally average size! These bumps of ours can be very deceptive I feel! Mine definitely feels heavy enough to be a decent sized Bubbabean! 🙈

boxesoffrogs · 28/07/2017 11:35

Nope, not been measured yet (or weighed since booking in appointment), as replacement midwife was going to do it at 25 week check but then more senior replacement midwife said no it must only ever been done at 26 weeks (with a very stern look). Considering I was 25+5 I reckon she could have done it, but the clinic was rushed off its feet. Gosh I sound like a right moaning Minnie this morning!
Yes I realise the tummy sucking in thing was most odd and rather ridiculous Blush I won't be doing it again! I am off out now before my appointment to try and pretend to be a normal functioning member of society!! Grin

mrsbumblebees · 28/07/2017 11:47

It seems to vary so much! I haven't been weighed since booking but got measured at 24 weeks and then sent for scan as bump was so small, but at hospital the sonographer was very surprised they had measured me so early and said they wouldn't normally start worrying about measurements until at least 28 weeks....

Anyway - good luck and let us know how you get on, and don't worry yourself (says she, the queen of unnecessary worrying Wink)!

mummabubs · 28/07/2017 14:51

I was told 28 weeks for first measurement too 😊 In fairness even with the expertise and experience of the midwife at the end of the day it's a human with a tape measure, and sheer mm can make a big difference between where you fall in terms of percentiles so I'd rather rely on scans as they're more accurate with this stuff!

Sorry @mrsbumblebees but also noticed on another thread you're eyeing up the Tutti Bambini Cozee (or have I gone mad?!) I really like the look of them and am trying o justify spending that on something you use for 6 months... although my husband wants to use a Sleepyhead or a similar device and I feel like the only person in the world who actively doesn't want to use one of them!! All these blooming decisions eh!
