I think both normal and completely understandable. Any one of those might make me cry even when I wasn't pregnant. Really hope things settle down for you and get easier. I cried this afternoon just because I found out that the way childcare is funded means ds won't be able to start nursery until next September instead of April like I'd planned. The thought of having a baby and pre-schooler all to myself for a year was enough to make me cry! Not that it helps but my ds has also dropped his nap recently so I'm also having the full 12 hour shift. It's not good, is it.

Sorry about the cs date not being set. That's definitely a way to play with a pregnant woman's head! Why won't they ok it? I hate the way pregnant women are treated.

But anyway, I can understand why you're stressed. Do you have someone you can talk to and unload? Or someone to take your dd for a few hours and give you a break?

TheLegendOfBeans · 25/09/2017 20:41

DH takes DD a lot but it does tend to be for short bursts, plus DD is in nursery two days a week so I am extremely aware of how Biscuit this must all look written down.

But as much as I dearly love em both I need a wee bit of space. In my house. Alone. We've spent so much time getting the plane shipshape I just want to enjoy it before baby appears in three weeks.

Nessalina · 25/09/2017 20:59

Ugh Cineraria huge sympathy on the needle thing, I had to have a cannula put in after a bad post-birth bleed, and I really flipped out, it was awful Sad Hope it's not bothering you too much Flowers

How much further do you have to go asilikeit? My PGP has really been playing up too, it did the last couple of weeks last time too! Really recommend water birth if it's a possibility for you, it really made a difference to me being weightless in labour!

Gimble once they drop it's just sooo not comfortable Confused

Wow Legend that's a lot going on!! And entirely normal to feel way stressed under such conditions! My DS is nearly 3 and is going through a right diva stage, as well as dropping his nap, and I'm all out of energy to deal with it, so I empathise there. If your DH is out of work is there anything he can do so that you don't have to be 'on 6-6'?

All the best greentrees, really hope the scan was better than you thought it might be Flowers

KitKatSplat · 25/09/2017 21:01

Nothing to do with hormones, beans. Just reading your list made me feel anxious and stressed! I know it's hard, but try to be a little bit selfish. Tell your DH that you need more help right now with your toddler, so you get some much needed time to relax. Nothing to be ashamed about. You're going through a lot.

Re: baby whacking your cervix, sometimes I can't think straight and just have to go to bed because my baby is so busy having a disco on my internal organs. I sometimes go to bed at 8pm just to escape it!

Bobbiepin · 25/09/2017 22:23

beans no wonder you are stressed. Take out all the pregnancy stuff and I think most people would struggle to cope. Be frank and honest with your DP - the house being perfect does not matter but DD being looked after and you feeling less stressed certainly do. And fuck the library, toddlers are toddlers, nbd!

AgentCooper · 25/09/2017 22:29

Hope the needle's not upsetting you Cineraria and things are properly under way soon Flowers At my hospital they mentioned both options bit I know they'll try the pessary first. Hope you are comfy tonight.

Legend, that lot would push anyone to despair, pregnant or not. You're doing grand.

Kitkat I feel your pain with the cervix dancing. It's lovely feeling them move but sometimes you just want to say cool it for a minute, wee one, that's brutal!

Had my last couple hours at work today and going to hospital for monitoring tomorrow. Still can't believe I'm getting induced on Thursday, my head can't quite get round it. This is my first baby and I must admit I'm feeling anxious. I know I love him already but I just worry - will I feel like his mum? I struggle with anxiety anyway and I get scared that my stupid anxiety will stop me being a good mum.

PingusMistress · 25/09/2017 22:48

@Nessalina @mummabubs thank you for the great baby turning advice! I've had a good look at the spinning babies website exercises and sent DH into the loft today to dig out my old yoga ball. You have given me hope that there is still time yet!

@Cineraria really feeling for you about the cannula thing. Along with my surgery phobia I also have a needle phobia, and like you have had CBT for it. I can cope with injections now but a cannula freaks me out - I've fainted from seeing one in somebody else's arm before. So I think you are incredibly brave! Fx that the induction works quickly for you.

Good luck @greentreeseverywhere , really hope it turns out to be nothing to worry about.

I think anyone would be stressed out about all that @TheLegendOfBeans , even if they weren't pregnant. It could also be a sign that things are about to kick off though, doomkittycleo had a big stress on here a day or two before her little one turned up...

@AgentCooper It is perfectly natural to be anxious, especially for your first. I think it took me about six months after the birth to actually feel like a mum and not just some pretender winging it and flying by the seat of my pants! Actually I still do feel like that quite a lot!

Cineraria · 26/09/2017 08:02

Thanks for the good wishes and especially to those who mentioned that I'm not alone in finding a cannula hard to tolerate. I'm trying my best to forget that it's there (that prickly feeling is just from all the sticky tape holding the huge swab over my elbow, right?) and am back on speaking terms with that arm now so have been painting my nails and knitting! It's DS's second birthday today so we are going to the cafe downstairs to celebrate.

That really is a lot on your plate Beans. No wonder you feel overwhelmed. Can you schedule DD some activity that she is happy to do by herself to replace the nap time? DS will do reading, stickers or screen time by himself, for example, if I need 30 minutes to myself.

TippetyTapWriter · 26/09/2017 08:11

Don't worry agentcooper I'm anxious too and had the same worries. You'll be a great mum! And yes to the winging it feeling! I feel like that about most of my adult life!

Hope everything is going well cineraria. Well done on facing your fear. You're doing great. One of my thoughts the first time I got pregnant was 'It's a good job I don't mind needles' so hats off to anyone pregnant with that phobia.

Had a weird thing this morning. Woke up and felt a swollen area at the bottom of my bump on the left hand side. Can't really see or feel it when I'm standing or sitting but when I was lying down there was a puffy area about a cm high and a few cm across. Didn't feel like a baby bit pushing out as it was all squidgy. Felt a bit sore there like a ligament pain underneath. No idea what it is, but paranoid because it's just above where my internal cs scar must be.

Nessalina · 26/09/2017 09:29

Could it be a stretch mark that's got a bit irritated Tippety? I've got some massive ones below my bump sort of in the top of bikini knicker area. I'm currently wearing Bridget Jones knickers, but if they slip below the bump my skin can get quite irritated there. Can you use a phone camera to see what's going on?

Glad you're able to relax a wee bit Cineraria, enjoy the birthday celebrations!

I'm feeling like a pin cushion having just had my whooping cough vaccine (about 6 weeks later than I should have had it!) and the nurse 'helpfully' offered the flu jab at the same time, so I got it in both arms!!! I'll feel like a wet lettuce all day now, I hate jabs.

greentreeseverywhere · 26/09/2017 09:39

thanx guys it went better then expected but they agreed it's not right. they want to see me 3 weeks after birth to see what changes have happened then after milk etc. but she told me not to stress there are no lumps or masses under the skin but somethimg is going on and she just hopes that boob doesn't like pregnancy!

Cineraria · 26/09/2017 09:56

So glad to hear that they don't see any lumps or masses in the tissue, greentrees and it's good to hear they'll continue checking you. Let's hope that it resolves itself when you're not pregnant.

Were/are you planning on breastfeeding? If so, I hope that goes well and was wondering if you have nipple shields packed in your hospital bag as I think they can sometimes help babies latch if they struggle with an inverted nipple, although I think it's usually advised to try without first.

greentreeseverywhere · 26/09/2017 10:18

I was hoping to breast feed and have ordered some shields as the lady recommended them yesterday. so hope they help if my boob work!!
thankyou!!! I do feel much better I was massively concerned and am a bit of n o we thinker so always go to worst case xxx

greentreeseverywhere · 26/09/2017 10:20

bit of an over thinker!!!!

greentreeseverywhere · 26/09/2017 10:20

bit of an over thinker!!!!

Cineraria · 26/09/2017 10:35

I'm sure anyone would be in those circumstances.

Nessalina · 26/09/2017 13:11

That's great news! So glad it looks better than you feared greentrees. We found the Medela nipple shields a real help first time round as DS had a tongue tie, he weaned off them naturally about 8 weeks. Get the biggest size to start with unless you have teeny tiny nipples - the size is about nipple size not baby size! Smile

Nessalina · 26/09/2017 13:13

My hospital bag is finally packed!! Well, laid out ready to pack anyway!

Hiya, I posted on here eons ago & have been reading trying to catch up! I'm 38 + 4 & this will be my 2nd baby. To beans that would totally stress anyone out & I find the thing with pregnancy is that I bumble along for so long then have an all mighty meltdown. Mine was last week, just felt really overwhelmed by everything & anxious about possible induction, worried about how everything is going to change when we have got to quite a good routine & my husband snapped at me & that was it- boom!!! My first dd was after a miscarriage & I was quite anxious, had so many questions at midwife appts & remember getting really morose at one point when I couldn't feel her as much thinking that it was all going wrong. I'm much more chilled out this time but in some ways have found this pregnancy harder. I have bad cankles & loads of varicose veins on my legs, as well as heartburn & baby really wriggly & low down. My dd is still at childminders 3 days a week at mo so know what you mean but it's still hard trying to get everything done when you can't physically do as much!

Cooper I was induced with dd & it really wasn't that bad. My waters had gone so I suppose I was sort of ready which helped. They did pessaries to no success then did syntocinon which worked quite rapidly. It was bloody painful & escalated quickly. I would advise to take the gas & air, even if it makes you feel a bit sick & spaced as it really does make it more manageable. I also had diamorphine which I never thought I would but really helped. The good thing about induction is you know you're meeting your baby soon! I also thought what the hell I am doing having a baby, I'm not even that into babies & worried that I wouldn't know what to do but you muddle through & I absolutely loved it.
green glad it wasn't anything too serious, must have been worrying for you.
nessalina good work on the bag, mine is mostly done. Pack some bendy straws- brilliant for putting in glass of water that dh can hold for you & I found a spray can of water like Evian was brilliant spritzed on face. I also had a tens machine. Make sure you have big maternity pads & I found earplugs & an eye mask were good to try & get some sleep on the ward.

Very exciting that babies are coming!

TippetyTapWriter · 26/09/2017 16:59

Maybe nessalina though I don't have any there that I can see, unless it's just about to appear! Seemed more like fluid. Still feels a bit like a pulled muscle in that area so I'll see how it is tomorrow.

Glad it was reassuring news greentrees! After my failed attempt to bf ds I ended up with loads of cysts, one 5cm big! Grim. Found the lump and assumed the worst but it was just milk. Pregnancy really does a number on the body!

PingusMistress · 26/09/2017 21:27

That is good news @greentreeseverywhere , hope it sorts itself out post birth.

I think baby has moved, although still not sure if he has fully flipped to be head down. I seem to be getting kicks all over my bump, instead of just at the bottom. Those of you with head down babies, when they get hiccups, where do you feel it?

Nessalina · 26/09/2017 22:09

I actually feel her hiccups at the top left of my bump, which must be bum! I guess they just move in whichever direction has space!

Good tips beard, I'm definitely set with massive maternity pads, they're flipping enormous Grin

Bobbiepin · 26/09/2017 22:23

Hiccups tend to be mid bump on the right, where her back usually is. She's getting less and less room to wiggle round but she's definitely head down.

A question for you girls, my 34 week bloods showed I was a bit aneamic, no big deal, conpletely nornal etc etc but when I went to get my prescription filled they've given me over 100 tablets. Now I'm alnost 36 weeks so at the dose I'm taking (one tablet twice a day) I'm only really getting through half that by the end of the pregnancy. Am I meant to carry on taking them once she's born? Or are they just giving me way too many in case i'm overdue?

GimbleInTheWabe · 26/09/2017 22:23

@PingusMistress I feel the hiccups along the right hand side of my bump, from about halfway upwards. Worried myself today as he hiccuped last night, this morn and this arvo and I’d read that it can be a problem sign.. however I looked on MN and had my nerves quashed by people saying it’s no biggie. Gunna keep an eye on it though.

Really glad it was nothing untoward @greentreeseverywhere, try to put it out of your mind if you can.

Can’t believe I’ve got to 39+3... baby can make an appearance anytime he likes now!

mummabubs · 26/09/2017 22:25

My midwife and DK pregnancy book have actually said they're more likely to hiccup at this stage Gimble as they're practising breathing more and more! Bubbabean definitely hiccups more these days 😊
