Omg YES @AgentCooper, I've had it so much too. It's so annoying! Great, I'm so pleased that your aunt lost 400 pints of blood and nearly died, now I feel great Hmm or people say 'omg my friend had the worst birth experience but don't worry I won't tell you about it' obviously thinking I'm for some reason going to reply with 'oh no prey tell your tale of birthing woe' and then they look disappointed when I say 'cool I don't really want to know'. It's like they haven't gone through it themselves?! Maybe you forget how annoying it is.

Completely with you guys on the horror stories. Really fed up with them. People need to either say something helpful or shut the f*ck up.

On the contrary, I found this video very inspirational and calming

We should make a pact to be firm and tell people if it's not a positive story please don't tell me about it.

These last few weeks are stressful enough without people making it worse.

Bobbiepin · 17/09/2017 22:12

I swear all I get is horror stories right now. My NCT woman said that people just like to justify their experiences and no one tells you about the good ones because they are either scared to come across as bragging or its just not a good story. 'I went to hospital, had a baby, it hurt but it was fine, baby is healthy'. Shit story!

gracey1 · 18/09/2017 03:43

Anybody else not sleeping? I've had problems at work this last couple of weeks and ended up in some states.. nose bleed on Friday violent sickness on Saturday and worried sick about my Mat leave and people having a pop when I'm not around (whole company going through restructure and the knives are out between some colleagues fighting for position). I can't switch off and petrified I'm causing damage to bean.. only meant to have two weeks left but it's making me really ill.

doomkittycleo · 18/09/2017 05:03

@gracey, I can't sleep either. I've finished work now, but nervous for my placenta placement scan in the morning. Can't offer any words of wisdom about work except that when the baby comes it'll probably be less of an issue what people think.

Try to keep that in mind 🙂. Have you tried any guided relaxation videos specific to pregnancy. They can sometimes help you to switch off.

PingusMistress · 18/09/2017 06:36

Sympathy to the non-sleepers. I woke up at 5.15am and can't get back to sleep although I'm knackered. I'm going to feel like crap at work. Why do you do this to me, body? Why?

I agree those horror stories are really not helpful - we can't do anything to avoid birth now so they are clearly not for our benefit! Being my second, I'm getting all the tales about super quick births in the bathroom/car/hospital car park.

mummabubs · 18/09/2017 07:39

Good luck for your scan today @doomkittycleo, hope it goes well. No sleep for me either @gracey1, been like that for a few weeks. When people say to me "oooo you want to get as much sleep as you can now. You'll never sleep again after baby comes" I feel tempted to mutter back between gritted teeth that 1) I don't get sleep at the moment, if anything I'd enjoy having a different reason to not sleep than heartburn, pain from trapped wind and being kicked in various organs... and 2) how does that even make sense?! It's not like you can bank extra sleep hours now to redeem after the baby comes!! 🙈🙈 I haven't been brave enough to use these responses yet but given two more weeks I'm sure I will! X

gracey1 · 18/09/2017 09:17

Thanks ladies @doomkittycleo hoping the scan goes well, I don't know what that means but hoping you are both ok. X

doomkittycleo · 18/09/2017 11:14

Just got out, placenta is well out of the way and baby is in good position for delivery (such a relief).

doomkittycleo · 18/09/2017 11:34

@gracey I had a low lying placenta which if was still low lying would mean I needed a c section, but as it's moved I am back on track for a natural birth atm 🙂.

mummabubs · 18/09/2017 16:42

So glad to hear that @doomkittycleo! You must be relieved 😊 Today is obviously a good day as I'm so relieved to report that after a 3 hour wait for a scan Bubbabean has indeed stayed head down so I'm also back to midwife led care and no need for admission or c sec.

I've now taken to playing a game (that I feel I've wittily named) "let's get this show on the road" where I obsessively check for any signs of a show every time I go for a pee in the hope that I might not have to wait another 3-5 weeks to meet baby! 😂😂

KitKatSplat · 18/09/2017 17:20

That video you posted was really nice, @doomkittycleo. Thanks for sharing.

Bobbiepin · 18/09/2017 18:07

@mummabubs you are hilarious! I really laughed at that. So pleased baby bean has got the right idea. I know what you mean about the combacks. A colleague stroked my bump today (uninvited and didn't ask, naturally) then said "oh I shouldnt go near you, I've got a stinking cold". I felt like telling her to fuck off!!

GimbleInTheWabe · 18/09/2017 18:09

Yay seems like nearly everyone's little ones are getting the memo to 'get head down!' Let's hope they all stay that way hey.

Officially completed my first full week of being term without having a baby.. 38weeks today so obviously I'm going to go in to labour at any point Hmm. @mummabubs I'm also playing your game, every time I go to the loo I'm looking for literally any sign at all. I just wanna meet this little guy!!

Also- had my first 'had the baby yet?!' text yesterday. We should have a competition to see who gets harassed the most about it from family and friends haha

mummabubs · 18/09/2017 18:23

@Bobbiepin I think I would have told them to F off! We had similar issues with my MiL touching me without asking and even pulling my clothes up and revealing my bump in public- so my solution was I buy and wear a nightie that says "hands off the bump" which seemed to work so I was deaf chuffed... turns out DH had words with her so it wasn't my passive aggressive clothing at all! 🙈

@GimbleInTheWabe I like the sound of that game, the more entertaining we can make this insufferable last bit of waiting, the better!!!

PingusMistress · 18/09/2017 20:45

Hooray for all the babies behaving themselves! Let's hope they continue on that track when they come out too!

@Bobbiepin that astounds me, how can people be so dim?

Does anyone have a recommendation for cheap big black "in case of c-section" pants? I can only find two pairs of my old ones, must have binned the rest.

I'm not quite ready for my little one to arrive yet, but then I'm not due until end of October so a little behind most of you.

TheLegendOfBeans · 18/09/2017 20:49

Pingus

Go to Tesco/Primark etc and get a 5 pack of "Full Briefs" two sizes bigger than you normally wear.

I've packed mine now and that's my hospital suitcase bag all done.

Now all I need is my flipping CS date confirmed.

Ps: I think this baby is going to come out with claws. I'm getting really mauled in the left lung area.

Bobbiepin · 18/09/2017 21:39

It took a lot to bite my tongue. I keep thinking that I only have 3 weeks left, unless my dreams become a reality and I go into labour infront of a class! I think baby is starting to engage, been hungry for the first time in ages and I can walk up the stairs without getting out of breath. That, and it feels like i have a bowling ball in my pelvis!

I'm gonna be so jealous of your early October babies, I'm still 34 weeks...

PingusMistress · 18/09/2017 22:21

Brilliant, thanks @TheLegendOfBeans ! What an exciting shopping trip I have to look forward to

@Bobbiepin I'm 34 weeks too so will keep you company on here when everyone else has graduated to the baby boards!

SophieGiroux · 18/09/2017 23:53

36 weeks today but measuring 3 weeks behind so have been referred for a growth scan on Wed. Midwife said baby is already 1/5 engaged though so that could be the reason.

Anyone else starting to get sore boobs again? Think they are starting to get ready for what they are made for!

Ladybirdgal · 19/09/2017 00:13

Hi guys, thought I'd say a wee hello!

Due my first baby on the 22nd October whilst trying to finish up uni on the 10th. I feel like this baby is trying to stretch my belly and burst outta me like the creature from Alien. Its back is to my tummy and it likes to stick its wee bum out constantly which is so uncomfy. Keep having this feeling baby may come early so I'm hoping it keeps in there until the 10th at least!

Does anyone else feel surprisingly calm about labour? I don't know if it just hasn't hit me yet. Think I keep forgetting that I have to give birth to the wee blighter! Think I feel more nervous about my driving test this Friday. Why oh why did I think doing intensive driving lessons would be a good idea at 35 weeks pregnant Grin

Hope you're all doing well!

Bobbiepin · 19/09/2017 06:48

Nice one @Pingus, when's your due date?

Welcome @ladybirdgal, I feel the same about labour, its hasn't quite registered with me yet. I'm sure it'll flood in when that first contraction hits! Good luck with your test, it'll be worth it when you can drive baby around rather than getting the bus!

Nessalina · 19/09/2017 10:40

Hi folks, I hope you don't mind me checking in veeeery late Blush I'm 37+3 with DC2, little girl on the way. Feeling the need for some solidarity with the lack of sleep/alien baby trying to escape via bump/obsessively checking for show/general exhaustion!
DS is nearly 3 and at nursery Mon & Tues, so now I'm on mat leave I'm getting a couple of chill days a week.

Re: the horror stories, people just can't bloody help themselves! I've been getting all the super fast birth stories this time round Hmm If it helps, my first birth was absolutely marvellous and a great experience, so there's at least one non-horror story out there Smile

PingusMistress · 19/09/2017 10:57

Welcome @Nessalina and @Ladybirdgal !

@Bobbiepin I'm due 28th, how about you? DD arrived on her due date so hoping this one doesn't go over.

@SophieGiroux my boobs hurt too, and they are leaking a little bit. The milk machine is warming up!

ButterflyGem · 19/09/2017 11:16

Hi all
Quick question to those who have children.
I'm 37 + 2 & last night/early morning I had like a tightening feeling in my tummy with kind of like mild period pain. Could this possibly be just braxton hicks? as I've had nothing else this morning apart from feeling baby move around d a bit. I'm just gonna take it easy today just in case 😮 xx
