Can anyone recommend a good book?

Not just any old book! A good one on pregnancy. I know I've "been there and done that" but things seem to change so quickly that I don't know what I should or shouldn't be doing this time!
I don't really want to waste my money on a book with sections on fertility and conception but what I do really want is a book that concentrates lots on preparing for labour and labouring effectively....I am really keen to have a vbac this time round and want to make sure I know as much as I possible can.
Any suggestions anyone?

VBAC-- read Ina May;s Guide to childbirth & Ina May Gaskin 'spiritual midwifery', two books that empower you , to believe in your own body to give birth ...... books that believe if women understand labour and understand their bodies, they have the confidence to labour and then give birth in their own unique way.....

HTH !!

Nine months: Birth and Beyond by Yehudi Gordon is good - was cheaper on amazon than anywhere else when I bought it.

Thankyou both! Lulamama - I recognise your name.....where you on ttc in Sept/Oct? If I remember right, you are quite knowledgable...are you in the healthcare business?

Another vote for Birth and Beyond, excellent book. This is my second pregnancy and it's the only one I kept from the first time around!

spirtual midwifery rocked me and got me the birth i wanted. also ina may's 'guide to childbirth'. there is also a lovely book: 'Baby Catcher'- tales of an american midwife by Peggy vincent which is a lovely read. my SIL says it was the book she recalled as she gave birth to dd2 on her own at home. (not intentionally, you understand, he just decided he was on his way 3 weeks early) i had given her the book so she might feel better about my wanting a home birth which she thought a crazy idea. she says that having read the book, she felt she knew what to do in extraordinary circumstances - which dd2's arrival certainly was!

I like "Hypnobirthing: The Mongan Method" by Marie F. Mongan.

I'm a big fan of hypnobirthing. It's a quick read with stories, simple, understandable explanations, and includes a sample birth plan.

How about Blooming Birth by Lucy Atkins and Julia Guderian... generally a good book for working through your fears and worries and there is a big section on vbacs I think.

Wow! Looks like I'll have a fair bit of bedtime reading for a while!
Lulamama - I must have just read other posts from you elsewhere! But you must be pretty in the know if you are a trainee doula? Who are you training with? I've looked into it myself but have never known anyone who is an ACTUAL doula so have never had any personal recommendations. Would be really interested to know how you are finding it....?
