Hi
This is a thread for people due in October with past miscarriage issues, so we don't scare the 'regular' October people and we don't annoy the RM thread with our pregnancy talk...

I'm pleased to hear about all the fluttering heartbeats, despite having some dark "why not me?" thoughts.

Next bit is TMI so feel free to skip

I've been completely wiped out all day today with some heavy cramps and bleeding and I passed the sac and wee bean this afternoon. Just sat holding it for a while. Then wrapped it up and flushed it away. That little longed-for bunch of cells is gone...

End of TMI, I promise

Now my bleeding has nearly stopped, and I can't help wondering if the lack of endometrium is linked to this possible APS type thing I might have.

I'm going for a scan tomorrow and will see a consultant. So many emotions and questions that I don't know where to start...

Oh tanny it's so horrible and still so very unfair. We can all identify with the 'why not me' thoughts too. I hope the professionals are helpful tomorrow but as lugs suggested, go easy on yourself re the emotional aspects.

I had a little cry when I read your post too - it really dredged up all the feelings I went through with my miscarriages, and I so wish it wasn't happening to you again. I'm also so scared it will happen to me again and emotionally not sure I could hack it. But I said that after the first... And I did cope. So you will get back on the case again and you will get through it but I can also acknowledge just how fucking shit and really tough it is. Thanks

JBrd · 19/02/2014 22:14

Oh, tanny. My heart goes out to you, it's just awful. So much hope gets invested every time, just to get crushed again, it's brutal. We all know how you feel.
Take good care of yourself, don't rush anything

fedupofrainydays · 20/02/2014 07:31

Does anyone else get night sweats? It's my paranoia today.woke up in night all sweaty and I've only had this before when miscarried or post birth of my son. Just stressing its a sign it's all going to end. Maybe ridiculous but I can't help it!

TinyTear · 20/02/2014 08:12

So so sorry tanny
I know I am still not in the clear, a heartbeat at 6 weeks just means 78% chance of all being well... and with 4 mc behind me, I am not feeling positive... just scared...

We have all had the why me moments... Especially seeing all the people due in June - my last one...

i hope the scan today and talking with the consultant will bring some answers...

Tanny How awfully, awfully sad. Hope the consultant sorts you out and you never have to go through it again. :( Take it easy.

Fed up yep and I was stressed cause I thought I was ill. I just go hot n cold!

SweetPeaPods · 20/02/2014 13:57

Tiny my consultant said a hb at 6 weeks has a 95 percent chance of getting past 12 weeks safely.
A hb at 12 weeks has a 98 percent chance.

TinyTear · 20/02/2014 14:06

Really Sweet?

I always read 78% at 6w. It may be true in most pregnancies but probably not with my history... don't want to think of high chances... after the 8w scan then I will dare to hope

www.miscarriageassociation.org.uk/information/ultrasound-scans/

Research has shown that if you see a heartbeat at 6 weeks of pregnancy, the chances of the pregnancy continuing are 78%.

A heartbeat at 8 weeks increases the chance of a continuing pregnancy to 98% and at 10 weeks that goes up to 99.4%.

So things could still go wrong and sadly sometimes do, but as long as there is a heartbeat, the risk of miscarriage decreases as the weeks go by.

squizita · 20/02/2014 14:12

Tiny I had a complete arse of a doc at the RMC at 6 weeks, basically so he could feel cleverer than Mr Rai (who had said with my history and known condition, 70% at 6 wks) he drawled 'well if you asked me... erm 60, 65%'. Scared me half to death, why had it gone down.

Made no difference at the 8 and 10 week scans where the chances progressed up nicely exactly as I'd been told to expect by Mr Rai for a clexane-pregnancy. But DH wanted to complain. It was clearly macho-man posturing contradicting the 'big boy' having never read my notes which (I saw) said 'very anxious, be positive and optimistic'.

nearlyreadytopop · 20/02/2014 14:22

My 12 week scan 'glow' lasted approximately 1 daySad . One of my mc was missed mc at 17 weeks, the baby had stopped growing at 13 weeks. I'm terrifying myself with thoughts that it will happen again.

The logic part of my head says its a very different preg this time but its so so hard. I have to tell my boss tomorrow and I know he will be supportive but it just feels like we have been in this situation so many times before.

TinyTear · 20/02/2014 14:35

squiz I can imagine!

I saw Mr Rai when I went to St Mary's back in 2011, he was great - quite good and straight to the point...

If anything he seemed a but too "trying hard to be friendly" at times which seemed artificial as if he had been told in a review to improve his 'bedside manner' so to speak Grin - I prefered when he was being straight to the point but never arrogant

OP posts:
TinyTear · 20/02/2014 14:36

Aww nearly
Hope the weeks fly by for you...

All my mcs were early ones, so I will relax after the next scan (a little bit)

Would a doppler be good for you? i know it would make me paranoid but might help reassure you...

OP posts:
nearlyreadytopop · 20/02/2014 14:52

thanks tiny I am still surprised that I have made it this far! Have had two earlier ones as well as a successful preg. Trying to compare this pregnancy to the one that produced ds does help.
I think I would drive myself mad with a dopplerGrin . I've a hospital scan at 14 weeks, midwife at 16 and then if I get that far I will book a private reassurance scan at 18 weeks before the big one at 20. So trying to take it two weeks at a time.

Tumtimes1 · 20/02/2014 14:58

Speaking of further reassurance scans I have just booked a private reassurance scan for next Monday. I would be 10w 6d. I think I have exhausted my NHS scans (x5 so far) so thought I should probably go private for this next one. I am struggling big time with the worry and I feel that this would definitely help if it was ok Then my 12 week scan is the following Monday.

i am currently signed off for 2 weeks owing to my migraines with aura which are pregnancy related it seems and sporadic. Did anyone else on here say they suffer with these?

Tanny thinking of you xxx

nearlyreadytopop · 20/02/2014 15:36

I have had my first migraine recently. It was so sore.
I paid for a babybond quick assurance one and it was the best £39 ever spent. I will happily pay it again if I can't get another one on the nhs.

TaytoCrisp · 20/02/2014 19:06

Sounds like scan central here! Grin. I've never felt that reassured by a scan as I had routine scans at 13 and 22 weeks, but an mc a few days after both..(.Thanks to thrombophelia, cervix damage and bad luck), But I can see that they can be reassuring, especially with missed mc.. I did get a day or two of relief this week though so I should focus on that.

Feeling rather nauseous and tired today, and waiting for short haul flight. would like a bag o crip but better wait til I feel better!

Wishing everyone an eventless few days!

tanny sending a special wish and hug your way.

allisgood1 · 20/02/2014 19:46

tum I get migraines. Luckily, not so much in pregnancy but have had 3 this time so far. I take Imigran, which is class C, so nothing proven that its safe or dangerous. I have actually read a lot of research about it lately and felt confident that the chance of miscarriage was low enough (especially as its not a regularly taken med) that I felt ok taking it. My dr was in agreement with me. I do find that my physio was able to get on top of my migraines (pre-pregnancy) to the point that they went away completely. Is it possible for you to see a physio or chiropractor?

tanny so :( for you. I hope your consultant gets a plan in place for next time so hopefully you never have to go thru this again.

I have the midwife tomorrow. Scan a week from today. I haven't had one since 8+3 and I can feel the dread creeping back in. Does anyone know the chances of mmc after seeing the hb (a good strong rate as I made them check!)? I am feeling quite weak and tired these days, and am starting to convince myself theres something seriously wrong as I just feel SO dreadful! Im sure having a toddler and 5 year old who keep me on my feet doesn't help...

Allis After 8 weeks I think it's down to about 2% or so, pretty low! FX for you.

Buggerlugs I kept away as I was worried things like how diluted my wee was would change the result and send me in a tizzy! They look all fancy but the basic mechanism is the same and hydration makes a big difference.

buggerlugs I did did the dreaded dig's and when I didn't get a 3+ when I expected to I felt shit. Then I got one a few days later. My advice to you is to not bother but easier said than done isn't it.

allsgooed are your migraines with aura and any visual disturbances? I am always on constant baby aspirin as a preventative measure and in normal life (i.e. not preggo) seems to work, but when I am pregnant i still get them but they are MUCH milder. i.e.: I don't end up vomming.

fedupofrainydays · 20/02/2014 22:14

lugs same experience with me and the digis as you with my last mc, so with this preg I've not tested at all since my bfp (did two on same day at that's it). I almost did test last Wednesday but knew I couldn't really do anything if the line was faint or the digi didn't say the right conception indicator. So I haven't!

Managed to stop stressing about the night sweats. Just hope it doesn't happen again tonight. I'm like a schizophrenic - fine one minute and totally nutty and obsessing the next.

I never get headaches - only when pregnant or hungover! So I can't identify with a migrane but they sound so horrid. I hope they go away soon alls as sound pretty debilitating and prob don't help as don't give you a distraction from obsessing about symptoms and crotch watch

ldt87 · 21/02/2014 08:59

Hey everyone, just checking in, still pregnant lol. I've been reading but not posting as I had some brown spotting on Monday and I was driving myself insane

i have an early scan next Friday at 7+4, 6+4 today. My spotting was only a small amount when I wiped, nothing on a pad and nothing since Monday. I'm trying to be positive now xx
