Well, here's hoping!

littlest yay! It's super-exciting isn't it? Today has been the first day I've allowed myself to think "that was definitely Bean and not wind" and I've been telling DH every time it happens! Am really glad, because I was beginning to freak out a teeny tiny bit.

19 weeks today :-)

misskatamari · 01/09/2013 21:51

Wow littlest and gnitting congratulations on the kicks! So so exciting!!! It's so crazy how the time is flying and we're actually at the stage where kicks are happening Grin

durk79 · 02/09/2013 03:53

Hello ladies another late newbie Smile
I'm at the witching hour of a night shift trying to stay awake and I've come across you lovely ladies! so been catching up on some of your chats there is a lot!
I'm 17wks today with my first and so far so good which I'm very thankful for, especially after reading what some of you are going through. Had an Ikea trip the other day and also bought the button rug....can sense a common baby boom theme happening! I loved the bright colours and the fact it wasn't pink, blue or neutral! also got some button draw knobs for a side board I'm going to do up for the baby's room Ooooo all exciting. We're going to try to stay team yellow as want the big surprise! finding boys names much harder to pick than girls. really wanting to feel some movement but know its still early for first time!
well I've rambled away, so glad I've found this thread (new to mumsnet tonight too!) great tips and ideas already on the little bit I've read. Smile

Poppy954 · 02/09/2013 04:17

Hello Durk and great news littlest and gnitting. It's so reassuring isn't it? Having said that even though I've felt movements for quite a few weeks (3rd baby) I still have days when I'm not convinced and stress myself out with worry. Then the next day when they are more obvious I tell myself I won't worry anymore and so the cycle continues!

vix206 · 02/09/2013 07:21

This baby is just like DS in that it kicks away like mad and then as soon as I get DH to put his hands on my bump to feel it, it stops!

Starting to feel hiccups now too Grin

vix206 · 02/09/2013 07:21

Oh and welcome Durk Smile

misskatamari · 02/09/2013 08:32

Welcome durk! Oooh your button knobs sound fab Smile your baby is gonna have a very cute room!

Poppy I'm the same - felt lots of bubbles which sure were movement a few days ago but not felt em for a few days - that's when I worry and get the Doppler out and alls fine. I think bump might be moving up abit tho as I'm definitely noticing my belly getting in the way more!

Awww I was just reading about baby hiccuping vix - sounds so cute! Although poor thing taking in some amniotic fluid which has its wee and other gross things in.

jazzcat28 · 02/09/2013 08:51

welcome durk - you'll find that MN in general is highly addictive, so I hope you are ready for what you've let yourself in for!

I've got my 16wk apt today with ye olde midwife. Forgot to pick up sample pots last week so shall have to drink loads and do it when I get there. Hoping that she'll let me hear the heartbeat, but we shall see.

Re buying stuff, I'm trying to hold off as much as I can (except for the odd cute babygrow or bargainous steriliser) as our family are going bonkers buying stuff. This little bean is the first baby in about 20 years for both of our families so we keep getting texts saying "have you got X yet? No? We'll sort it!" I know we are very lucky and hopefully will only have to buy nursery drawers/wardrobe and possibly baby monitor. But because our families are minimum 2hrs away it does mean we can't choose what we're getting - just have to put our faith in our mothers' taste, which is dodgy to say the least at times!

misskatamari · 02/09/2013 10:18

Gosh I'm tired today. Already had my morning coffee tho so should probably avoid another. Hopefully decaf will have the placebo affect on me! Hoping to get the energy to get off my backside and sort the house abit. DH built loads if shelving in the basement yesterday so I should go down and try and get rid of some crap. Also need to go through my clothes and come up with a "will still fit" and "no chance" pile so that I actually have stuff to wear to work. Gosh I just have too much stuff!

Shropshiremummy2B · 02/09/2013 10:42

misskat ever since you first mentioned your clothes clear out I kept thinking I should do the same, but my evenings are now taken up with swimming and dog walking so I just can't find the time or motivation. I'm glad to see youre still talking about it........ but have yet to start!!

My only baby related purchase arrives today (baby gate) I hope it doesnt look too naff against my lovely oak stairs, and the dogs won't be impressed when they realise they can't invite themselves up. The proper purchasing will begin in exactly 2 weeks after my 20wk scan on the 15th. Eeeeeeek, team yellow all the way though.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 02/09/2013 10:45

Welcome Durk - MN is very addictive and I have lost countless hours on here Blush I love the button rug - I want it myself but can't think of anywhere else in the house that needs a rug right now!

Re the Hemnes stuff from Ikea - I love it, and have been coveting the day bed for a couple of years, but sadly we have nowhere to put it so I can't justify buying it! :-( Poor DC3 is having hardly anything new as we have ample stuff from when the boys were little - I kind of envy people with lovely matching nurseries for their new babies - ours is going to be a mash up of different colours/ patterns I expect, though the walls of the baby's room are neutral and will stay that way.

Just back from my consultant appointment - actually saw the consultant instead of a clueless registrar - I'd never met her before but she had read my notes, knew I'd previously had an emergency section and an elective, and that I had two boys. She was lovely asking how things were going and when I said I've been much sicker this time round she said 'Ooh perhaps you're having a little girl this time!' She found the baby's heartbeat - yay (first time I've heard it) and was just absolutely fab. She agreed that it made sense to have another section in my circumstances, rather than try for a VBAC. She did ask whether I wanted to be sterilised at the same time as having the section Shock but apparently it's routine to ask that now as it makes sense to do it at the same time. A few years ago a friend of mine had to fight tooth and nail to be sterilised after her section, so I guess things have changed.

I don't have a MW appointment til November which seems forever!! My '16 week appointment' took place when I was only about 12 weeks, due to uncertainty about my dates near the beginning of the pregnancy when I booked it. I have 2 scans between now and then though (1 private in 2 weeks and the NHS one when I am 21 weeks). By the way is anyone else on here only entitled to Maternity Allowance, rather than SMP? I downloaded the forms and there are about 40 pages - makes my head spin... SMP is so much more straightforward to claim.

I cleared out my wardrobe on Friday - kept a few non-maternity things that I thought would still fit, but bagged up most of it. Turns out that pretty much the only things (stretchy leggings aside) that fit are my maternity clothes. Luckily I have accrued quite a lot. Went to a wedding on Saturday and had loads of compliments on my outfit - it was a silk skirt with a top that matched, which I had bought in a sale just before I had my 1st MC. Was great to finally take the tags off and wear it! (And remember that I got the skirt for a bargainous £15 instead of the £55 on the label!) Grin

misskatamari · 02/09/2013 10:54

Awwww sugarmice I'm glad your appointment went well. Hearing the heartbeat is just amazing isn't it.

Yep Shropshire still no progress made Hmm I really wish I was Mary poppins and could finger click to make it all tidy!

tinypolkadot · 02/09/2013 11:38

Hi Durk welcome to the thread!

Lovely to hear about your appointment Sugarmice I wonder if you are having a girl ? I do wonder how many of us who?ve been really rough will have girls.

3 weeks until we find out, I can?t wait!

We went and got some colour charts from Homebase yesterday so I was drooling over those for a couple of hours yesterday. Still have no idea! I like the idea of a nice light yellow colour, but not sure if the baby will find it very relaxing! Maybe I should go for more of a purply blue colour. (Only planning on painting one wall).

We were watching an Uppababy on ebay last week but couldn?t bid on it because we?re moving and have to pay solicitors and removal men, a crying shame as it was only 10 mins away from us! Still, we have 5 months to find another one I suppose.

I?m feeling the pain with clearing the clutter and tonnes of clothes that don?t fit. I?ve filled two bin bags and think I could still fill a third one. I just can?t be bothered to do it! I?m still feeling pretty lethargic though, and when the weekend comes around all I want to do is sit on the sofa.

bugsyburge · 02/09/2013 12:30

morning all, hope everyone is having an ok Monday. my tiredness has now developed into insomnia... Saturday & sunday I was awake from 4am .... I hope this doesnt last long!!!!! Envy

I'm loving all the nursery talk, I'm thinking of white & mint green with some lovely colourful bedding that I've seen in mothercare. I cant wait to do the baby room but going to try & wait until after 20 weeks

jazzcat28 · 02/09/2013 12:34

bugsy I'm with you on the insomnia! Last 3 mornings I've woken at 4am and struggled to get back to sleep. Don't need a wee - just wake up for some reason!

LovesToBake · 02/09/2013 14:22

I'm officially rubbish at keeping up to date with this thread, it moves so fast! Noticed a few of you second timers saying you haven't felt movement yet which is reassuring because I'm 15+4 and still haven't - was sort of expecting to by now, although I think it was around 18 weeks with my DS, so hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

Also my sympathies go out to other sickness sufferers because mine is still going strong - had possibly my worst episode to date on Saturday morning as I had to leg it to the loo at my parents to violently witness the return of my toast. It was like something from The Exorcist. I would say on average I'm still puking about 3-4 mornings a week so it's down a little bit but totally unpredictable.

Is anyone else suffering with PGP (Pelvic Girdle Pain)? I have been for a few weeks but only just figured out what it is last night thanks to Dr Google. Bloody uncomfortable and occasionally it gets really spasmy and I literally can't move my legs. This pregnancy lark is not glamorous is it.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 02/09/2013 14:28

Thank goodness I'm not the only one with insomnia - not that I would wish it on any of you, but it's kind of reassuring that I'm not the only one! I want to sleep, I need to sleep, but my body won't let me! Argh! Hope it gets better for you jazzcat and bugsy

There is so much sorting and deep cleaning I need to do. I have the time, but not the motivation - I finished my appointment at about 10am and I've been home since 10.15 but have done jack. Blush I'm appalled at my own laziness right now, but I think I am still recovering from the school holidays, which wore me out completely. At least that's what I'm telling myself Hmm misskatamari yep, if I could have a superpower it'd be the Mary Poppins finger-click to tidy trick!

tinypolkadot I am beside myself with excitement about my scan. Counting down the days til I can find out whether it's a boy or girl! (15 days wooooohoooo!)

mummybears1 · 02/09/2013 14:37

Hi,

Wanted some advice... im 17+2 and have been peeing alot. I mean usually every hour night and day (not alot comes out). When I went for my midwife appointment last week they found high protein and advised I may have a urine infection.

Anyway, luckily my test has come back as normal but I am left wondering why I am still feeling the need to pee so much. I fully expected to go more frquently but im starting to avoid drinking fluid because i dont want to go anymoe than i am!!

jazzcat28 · 02/09/2013 15:03

mummybears I can't help you there I'm afraid, unless your bean has a passion for being positioned low down (thereby squashing your bladder)?

For those interested in the bra size discussion ^ up thread, my tents 36G cups arrived today. I've put one on and they do fit differently to my old ones, i.e. they cover the entire boob round to my armpit, not just the front bit, but I feel much more supported and less heavy^ iyswim. I was shocked when I put it on (and will still keep my DD's for strappy tops) but hey, if my preggo boobs need scaffolding who am I to complain!

jazzcat28 · 02/09/2013 15:04

Opps, italics fail there, apologies

misskatamari · 02/09/2013 15:12

Lol jazzcat Smile I glad they fit well!

I've had the insomnia on and off too - it's horrible. Touch wood it's been better for the last week or so. I've found drinking less in the evenings a bit of a help as I've needed to wee less but some nights still wake up about 4/5 and can't nod off again. Hopefully it will abate for you ladies suffering soon

I managed to do some tidying! Sorted the book shelves in the dining room (a normal one and one of those big square 4x4 ikea things) and have now got loads to take to charity, some for the loft, a pile of "read then get rids" and a neater selection of baking/crafting. Felt so bloody sick after all the bending and scrabbling around under the dining table to access the bottom shelves tho I came upstairs for a lie down and have been asleep for the last hour with the cat purring on me Grin it's the one who doesn't like me too so maybe I'm emitting pregnancy "look after me" pheromones. Should get up and load the car for charity but can't quite make myself yet Smile

laura0007 · 02/09/2013 15:21

I've just got back from a lovely relaxing week in Mallorca and just checking in at 18 weeks today! I have started feeling little flutterings but only when I'm laid flat on my back and still! Will read the rest of the thread that I've missed later, hope everyone is doing well and getting fatter!! Grin

Sassy20 · 02/09/2013 15:25

Still suffering from insomnia here! Confused

On the positive though just had my 16 weeks midwife check and heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time Grin

Shropshiremummy2B · 02/09/2013 16:20

Laura youve been missed! Hope you had a good holiday and that for all of our sakes you got your leg over!

We have a Facebook group now so you can see all of our bumps if you so wish, pm me your name and il try and add you.

misskat im desperate for my dogs to start noticing i'm with child, at present they are still quite happy to jump directly on to my tummy when im sitting down no matter how hard I try to stare into their eyes and transmit subliminal messages to them. Shooting season begins in a couple of months so by the time they realise change is a foot they turn into robot dogs that become obsessed with DH and won't even look at me even though I walk them, feed them, do everything for them, grumble, grumble

jazzcat28 · 02/09/2013 17:41

16wk appt was great, heard the heartbeat Smile and discovered I'm rhesus neg? Don't know if that's right or really what it means except I need an injection at 30wks to stop me rejecting baby
