Sorry, this link may be better: www.bumpstuff.com.au/blogs/news/6251278-piriformis-syndrome-in-pregnancy

Hi again,

Just checking in as I had my 16 weeks scan today which was all fine - heard my baby's heartbeat for the first time :)

My 2 yr old came with me though and wouldn't let me sit on the chair as she was sitting there. She said I could sit on the scales. Then she told me not to break them. Thanks DD. The midwife didn't weigh me though! :)

I did ask about if it's really bad to sleep on your back while you're pregnant. She basically said it was nonsense and getting sleep in any position is fine! She thinks it could be advised against during the very latter stages of pregnancy because of the weight of the baby pressing on you, but even then she doesn't know of any actual cases where someone has had issues with their sleep position. Good news, we can worry about something else now!

I don't have to go back until 28 weeks which is forever away, but in the meantime I have the 20 weeks scan and then at about 22 weeks i have a consultant appointment to discuss the birth (ie section again!).

Loving the bump pics on the facebook group, weird to see pics of you all bringing you all to life and not just words on a screen! Will have to be brave enough to post a bump pic at some point. I don't have a scanner to scan my scan pic though.

dawn that sounds like sciatic pain to me. I used to suffer, it's awful so you have my sympathy. What really worked for me was sitting on a gym ball rather than a chair as it keeps your back moving which reduces the inflammation and the pressure on the nerve. Don't cross your legs and don't swim breaststroke.

Hope it gets better soon.

Littleen · 28/08/2013 19:25

With you on the shooting pains! Although mine sort of is all around the pelvis so I reckon I'm in for the pelvic pain issue at some point of the pregnancy. Came at 7 weeks and have not gotten any worse though, so might be lucky and it just stays as it is!

Anyone got any advice for peeing too much during the night? I try to reduce how much I drink, but I still run to the toilet EVERY HOUR when I am supposed to be asleep. I do not have UTI, been checked both 6 weeks ago and last week. It was not this bad in the first trimester! whaaat -.-

Lots of nice bumps indeed!! jealous :D

Littleen · 28/08/2013 19:26

oh yeah, and I don't have diabetes or anything - my glucose levels were fine last week, as was everything else they tested!

Glad to hear about the sleeping positions, I might try but I ALWAYS wake up on my back.
I am very jealous of everyone getting to hear baby's heartbeat at the 16 week check. Am I the only one whose MW wouldn't try and find it?
How much is a Doppler?!
Booked myself in for a bra fitting tomorrow, as even my maternity bras from last time (the only things that didn't go On eBay!) are now too tight. I was a C cup before getting pregnant, old mat bras are a DD or E... They are pretty humongous!
I am getting tired very easily at the moment. Very glad I've got this week off work, till next Tuesday, but am finding looking after DD is even worse. She's fine all day, but an absolute nightmare at bedtime. She had me in tears last night, which was awful. I keep thinking (after having a whole day of loveliness from her! She's only vile at bedtime) if I can't cope with one, what on earth am I doing having another! please tell me it's just a phase and she'll grow out of it Sad

Littleen · 28/08/2013 19:56

Thanks Champagnebubble I'll just keep waiting ;)
I have weird pains too, sometimes a bit stabby, but mostly just uncomfortable and feels like something is stretching in there. Is supposed to be like that :)

You girls who've done this before - will boobs grow only at start of pregnancy, or later on too? Mine are still same as they were (big enough!), and because I have lost a little bit of weight, my bras are actually fitting loose now!

misskatamari · 28/08/2013 19:58

Littlest sorry your little one is driving you bonkers at the moment - I'm sure it is just a phase! My Doppler was 20 quid on amazon (the angel sounds one). It's worked no problem so think its quite a good option as not too pricey!

So good to know lying on our backs is okay - I go from left to back to right to back and back again all bloody night!

Littleen - I'm the same with the constant weeing. I'm gonna try and reduce how much I drink in the evening and hope that helps Hmm

Sorry about all the hip and bum pain lots of you are suffering with. Pregnancy is just bloody horrid to us isn't it! Hope you find something to ease it soon!

I'm with you on tiredness champagne - so worried about being back at work and having to be on the ball in front of kids all day every day! Praying for an energy burst in the next week.

Grrrr I'm so frustrated with my h&m order. It's being sent in 3 parcels and I'm sure everything will be too small so will need to send back which you can only do by arranging for courier pick up. You can return in store but they'll only give you store credit (not even online grrrr!)

DawnOfTheDee · 28/08/2013 19:59

littlestgirlguide mw said to me they'd only look for it because i was so far on - 18+4 rather than 16. If i'd had my appt on time they wouldn't have checked.

Thanks gnittinggnome for those links - i've had a quick look at it sounds pretty spot on.

And vix what do you mean I can't sit with my legs wide open..? Bit late for that sort of advice really...talk about closing the stable door after the horse has bolted...Wink

pettyprudence · 28/08/2013 20:05

littlest could you put dd to bed half an hour earlier? I've had ds tucked up by 6pm some nights Blush

champagne have you tried huffing and puffing loudly on the train, rubbing your belly and saying things like "its ok baby, only another hour before we will be sitting down nice and comfy at our desk". Loudly.

I have spent this afternoon/teatime on a "date" with my ds. We went to see planes in the cinema and then went to pizza express for tea. I am trying to make the most of our time as just the 2 of us (dh having to work away a lot at the moment :( ) as I know once dc2 arrives it will be a while before we have some time together again.

Zazou1 · 28/08/2013 20:06

Littlest-I didn't get to hear HB either-rubbish!

Miss-thanks so much for sorting FB group-have sent you a PM Smile

Milk-no idea about MLU, need to have a look really. Have heard Southmead is fab so considering changing....it's all so confusing! How about you?

My MW was also a moody cow -her answers to all my questions/worries was 'its normal because you're preggo and will probably get worse'. Yes obviously but a bit if reassurance and/or smile wouldn't go amiss!

littlestgirlguide · 28/08/2013 20:15

just browsing Amazon for a Doppler and found this: www.amazon.co.uk/Girl-Pregnancy-Baby-Gender-Prediction
WTF?!

Milkandtwo · 28/08/2013 20:57

ESSAY ALERT
got my Hot Milk (bleaurgh) bras delivered today. I thought I'd got a bargain getting some in the sale but they came all the way from NZ and I got a whopping customs charge that have made them very pricey indeed! Still - at least they fit and are very comfy.

Had a bit of a moment earlier. Had a lovely afternoon with a gorgeous lunch with DH, MIL and FIL but I couldn't really afford the time off as so so busy at the mo so it was marred by guilt. Got home at 4.30 and had to paint the bedroom (couldn't be put off, I won't bore you with why). Then had to clean up a bit as Ive fallen behind and have no clean clothes or cutlery, then realised I needed to get work done ready for post tomorrow morning which I didn't start until 7.30pm. I've got hours and hours to do as I'm so far behind with orders (productivity down due to forum posting?) and I'm shattered. I accidentally punched myself in the face whilst pulling something that broke suddenly (!) and finally burst into noisy tears when I was failing to wrestle the cover off a sofa cushion after the cat had vommed all over it.

Zazou - Apparently there's not much in it between St Michael's and Southmead so I went with St Michael's as it's closer to my gaff (I'm in south Bristol)
Then it was a question of either the super posh new MLU in Cossham (every room with a pool, double bed etc) or MLU in St Michael's - not as posh as Cossham but brand new, 4 rooms and 2 of them with pools blah blah.
I think I'm going with the latter as though slightly less likely to get a pool (which I'm a bit obsessed with) it'll be the same midwife-led care and in case it all goes tits up the transfer is down the hall rather than being blue-lighted anywhere... will go for a tour of both though I think.

Must stop typing and WORK! I don't make life easier for myself!

EeyoreIsh · 28/08/2013 21:06

Oh milk, that sounds like a tiring day Sad

vix206 · 28/08/2013 21:12

My chiropractor last time said it was pregnancy sciatica. It did go immediately after DS was born but that's cold comfort when you're not even half way through Grin

Lol dawn, I guess I meant don't sit cross legged or in any position with your legs open and outstretched. It apparently makes it worse. Smile

gnittinggnome · 28/08/2013 21:19

milk DH and I went to the cinema yesterday, and went for burritos afterwards, and I just burst into tears in the burrito place for no reason whatsoever. It was all too much for me. Meep! I'm really hoping it's a one-off and not the beginning of random weepiness. Mind you, cat vomit on sofa cushions does sound grim. Have some Cake for fortitude at work.

misskatamari · 28/08/2013 21:40

Milk I hope you managed to get your work sorted and get a good restful nights sleep, sounds like a very tiring day!

rueyrichardson · 28/08/2013 21:44

Poor you milk. I've had a similarly difficult day, interrupted at intervals with my phone letting me know of a new bump pic or scan on FB. My team think I'm bonkers, one minute I'm a demanding nightmare, the next I am chuckling over one of your baby scans. I'm at the moody stage - I remember it from last time. I also remember it descending into frequent tears, the peak being watching Jeremy Kyle during early mat leave and crying all the way through.

pettyprudence · 28/08/2013 21:47

gnitting when pg with i had to stop listening to the news on the radio after bursting in to tears over the indian cricket fixing scandal Hmm so its perfectly logical for burritos to make you cry Grin

misskatamari · 28/08/2013 21:58

I just cried at an episode of project runway. It was very emotional tho so I'm hoping I'm just a sap and not crazy preggo crying!

misskatamari · 28/08/2013 21:58

I really want a burrito now too!!!
