Good luck Jelly. MrsO, hopefully it will all seem better tomorrow after a night's sleep. Just keep thinking that. Every awful day that goes by is a day nearer to D-Day!

Comtesse, I'm on the verge of finishing my knitted wool blanket for baby. Loaded with mistakes but baby won't notice. It's a nice superwash merino as I assume it's going to get its fair share of vom.
Re togs slippy, it does depend on the wool thickness and knit. Mine is a thick garter stitch, fairly heavy, no holes, so I won't use it for sleep, just for cuddles and prams.

PseudoBadger · 11/08/2013 20:56

Well I have nested like crazy today - sorted all clothes from the loft and got rid of any that are just too 'boy' in terms of slogan, and sorted out all the baby bedding. Then finished unpacking after holiday and bagged up the suitcases to put in the loft, and tidied our bedroom.
However this seems to have pissed off DP in some way and he's being a twattish arse, I don't know why and it's annoying me :(

Natalieand · 11/08/2013 21:00

Must be something in the air pseudo dh has had the hump all day! And ruined his one day off a week he gets with me and dd, now were both on the sofa in orquad silence so I think I may go have a bath. Men r so insensitive x

Wickedgirl · 11/08/2013 21:26

For snacks I have 10 caprisun orange juice drinks, a packet of mints, lots of cereal bars, some haribo and a bag of dried mango. With my last, I was only in hospital for 40 minutes before he was born so I shouldn't need too much food

I hope everyone gets a good nights sleep

Flyer747 · 11/08/2013 21:28

Excuse me for being really thick but what is a pregnancy mask?

ComtesseDeFrouFrou · 11/08/2013 21:39

Chloasma Flyer. Some women get hyperpigmentation in pregnancy and, since its often symmetrical, it's referred to as the pregnancy mask.

TheFalconsmistress · 11/08/2013 21:48

Evening all

Jelly good luck with the scan I have one in the week as I have had reduced movement the last few days and had to go in get checked tonight trace was perfect etc and she moved a couple of times when I was in typically I am so fed up of hospitals...

Hope everyone has a good week I am 33 weeks today it seems to be going in fast

Pinkforboys · 11/08/2013 21:49

Nat don't forget a flannel- great for wetting your head whilst in the throws of labour. And vaseline for baby's bum before the first merconium poo. Definitely lots of jelly babies. Our nct teacher recommended them a a reward after every contraction- last thing I felt like, but really enjoyed them when stuck on the ward in bed.
oh- and some kind of music player? We took and iPod and speakers with us. My Mum was kind of worried DS would be called 'Bruce' or 'Prince' as it was on shuffle...

Jelly glad to hear that bubba has moved some today. Good luck with the scan tomorrow x

And ladies...I'm loving the links to bags and buggies that I've never seen before. Window shopping from the comfort of my kitchen table. Love it.

I've only just started knitting my blanket. I've made so many over the years for mates, it feels surreal to be doing one again for our no.2. I'm afraid I don't know much about togs either- I'll use mine for general snuggling and tucking up in the buggy. I used to get freaked out about how warm/cold DS1 was at night so I resorted to having him in bed with us (I'd read that your body naturally restores theirs to the right temp) which is a habit he still hasn't broken 6 years on...Hmm

LostMySocks · 11/08/2013 23:05

My sister has been round today to see the new house. Great news she's 13 weeks pregnant. They've been trying for over 2 years and she'd just had all the horried tests when I told her about our baby. Ive been so worried about her: strange seeing someone so happy for me and at the same time so upset. Best thing is the babies will be close in age and we'll have quite a lot of maternity leave at the same time.

Sorry some of you are struggling with SPD. Sounds horrible. My friend had a support belt that helped

funkky · 11/08/2013 23:09

hayle I would say do it, if you like the house! We just had our mortgage offer come through and will be moving end if August when I'll be 36 weeks. Still think better now than with a little baby.

Try to get loads of help, we actually think we have too many offers from people waning to help but have loads of new furniture to set up so should be good. Am actually excited at having something to do as I have stopped work.

Bronzemoth · 11/08/2013 23:48

Natalieand yes that's the one - the giggle. Mil dragged me over to speak to a complete stranger we saw with one. he said he was very happy with the pram but didnt recommend the car seat either. We don't have a car so a matching car seat was not a priority.

Useful advice re food. I think I might stock up on Percy pigs!

GTbaby · 12/08/2013 00:04

Hospital bAg snacks I took were
Jaffa cakes, Capri sun drinks, box of mixed nuts and raisins (the best item I took, satisfied sweet n savoury) cerial bars, sour haribo.

2nd preg is deff worse here Hmm
Also used normal hand bags rather then a changing bag. Never found one I liked.

Got out lo new born clothes. Can't believe how big he has gotten.
Going to mk space in my cupboard tomorrow.
In NB I have 13vests, 11 baby grows, 2hats, 2cardigans, 2bibs. So more then enough as lo was in 0-3 by 2weeks old.
Going to get the 0-3 box out tomorrow to sort out Grin
And may just do 3-6 for kicks while I'm at it lol
Better sort out my WC jab n sign up for bf class as well!

chickieno1 · 12/08/2013 01:53

Good luck with scan tomorrow jellycurls

tarlia thinking of you, must be tough with preeclampsia and SPD and a fall :( hope your other half is taking good care of you.

hayle I would move if you like bigger house and if the availability etc is right for you. I moved countries at 37 weeks and it was tough but I was lucky I had my sisters around to help unpack boxes etc. I ended up being two weeks late .....

Natalie I can just imagine your very independent dd with her hands on her hips. Sometimes it's hard not to laugh at them.

I must get hospital bag sorted

Sleep tight all

Soupqueen · 12/08/2013 07:17

Good luck today jelly

hayle, agree with the others, if you like the house, go for it!

lost, lovely news, and great to have cousins so close in age.

Tarlia · 12/08/2013 07:28

chickie when you put it like that, I really am in the wars arnt I haha. Oh dear, 'not long to go now, and it's worth it' my mantra..

Hope the scan goes well today, Jelly.

Good luck with the house viewing hayley. I must say moving at this stage fills me with fear, though you sound pretty active still so I say go for it!

Who was it who asked does this sound like SPD? to me, yes it does. SPD/PGP comes in many forms. Last time it was all in my hips and back, this time it's all in my pubic bone (feels like my lady bits are falling apart at times and I have to support it - niiiice when in public!)

to everyone one day closer to meeting our bundles and almost one day closer to the start of your maternity leave. Chins up, lovelies.

PseudoBadger · 12/08/2013 07:45

Good luck at your scan Jelly

pinkbuttons · 12/08/2013 07:47

Morning ladies, back from our holidays, exhausted and alot heavier(thanks to lovely French food) but was lovely to get away.
Just had a quick flick through the thread but think will take me another week to catch up properly.

Hello to everyone new to the thread :) and glad to hear everyone thats been away as had good holidays and no early arrivals.

tarlia so sorry to hear your suffering with PE again, really hope your able to stay at home for as long as possible and keep him cooking for a little bit longer, the close monitoring sounds like hard work but am sure is reassuring that theyre so on top of it. x

jelly I hope scan goes well today x

hayle also agree with everyone else, I think if it was the right house I would definitely move and just make sure you have plenty of help. I found people much more willing to help with our move this yr as they all just assumed I wouldnt be able to do anything at 6 months pregnant.

Sorry to all those suffering with acid reflux/SPD and very jealous of all those nesting.
Got home to have our new double buggy here, now I just need to work out how to use it before she arrives Confused
Also would like the sun to come back please so I can get baby clothes washing. Apologies for the essay but hope I havent missed anything important out.

Natalieand · 12/08/2013 08:06

Good luck today jelly x

31 weeks today, midwife at 11am then I have foolishly agreed to take dd to watch monsters inc at the cinema with my sister and her dc's.

Not long now ladies .... Not long at all!

OrangeBlossom2 · 12/08/2013 08:17

Hello all, we have wifi in the chalet so I can still get my mumsnet fix. have read everything but cant remember all. hayle i agree move if it is a better house, sounds good value.

having a lovely time here, reading by the lake, beautiful walk and lots of yummy food yesterday but a very painful night with my pgp. Hoping once I get moving it will be ok, otherwise it will be a day in the garden here for me while the others go and do something adventurous, which actually I don't mind at all.

I found some pasteurised Brie at a french cheese counter and have been loving it! I don't normally eat cheese as me and my whole family are intolerant to it but I have some tablets that digest it for me for special occasions. Mmm that and liquorice are the only 'banned' things I've craved, yum yum yum.

Warlin · 12/08/2013 08:51

Hi All

Gah, I haven't been on here since Friday and have so much catching up to do!!

Bridget that must be odd with other babies being born to such young family members! At least you aren't that close to them. I remember finding it extremely odd when my MIL got engaged and married (at 72) just before our wedding. Pissed me off that the focus was on her instead of me for ages :)

Jelly hope all is ok...glad there hasnt' been arrival that I have missed. Good luck today

Sanji that toddler tantrum sounds grim...really not looking forward to those Grin. My ds is 14 months and we are at the refusing to go in the carseat, pram or anything with restraints phase. It's exhausting trying to pin them down and distract and on Friday ds decided when we out for a walk and more than a mile from home that he would be carried the rest of the way..grrr. My arm was aching having to carry him, push the pram and manage the dog all at once. shooting we went through that phase at about 12 months....a month or so or terrible sleeping. Ours is much better now though ds still insists in starting his day at 5.30/6 which is an obsolute killer at weekends.

1sttimer ds moved into his room at 9 weeks. He outgrew the moses basket then and to be honest kept me awake with all his snoring/ farting/ gurgling etc so I was quite glad. We have a double bed in the nursery too so during the week I'd have slept in there with him so dh could sleep and at weekends we'd just use the baby monitor. It was the best thing we did IMO as we all slep much better, including ds and it make me feel as regards getting some intimacy back with dh. Will play it by ear this time but I reckon we won't be that different.

Welcome back clapham

In other news, our cot arrived...yippee! Just need to nag DH for prob another month or so before he will put it together. And then on Sat we went to look at prams again and have finally decided to go for the bugaboo donkey so just ordered it and it will be here next week.

We have also had a change of heart on the name front. Neither of us were 100% on Edward (I love Ed but not sure I like the name enough for a baby/ child iyswim) so another discussion has ended in Matthew. I always liked Matthew but dh thought it was too biblical but has come round to it. Need to give it some practice and thought for the next few days lol

It's starting to get really real for me all of a sudden. We really aren't that far away from meeting our LOs now..eek!

Shootingstarsandcomets · 12/08/2013 09:16

Thanks warlin good to know its just a phase. We had another awful night, he just keeps either sitting or standing up in his cot but then can't get back down. I bought him in bed with us last night but I can't do that when the lo arrives. Hope he settles down before then.
Meeting my nct girls today- they all go back to work soon!! Going to have to make some new friends!!

moonblues · 12/08/2013 09:19

31 weeks today, which means only 7 weeks left of work and only 8 and a bit weeks til dday! (will be having another section around 39 weeks. Working until 38 weeks is seeming a bit tough at the moment, but only do 3 days, so hoping I'll survive.

tarlia so sorry the preeclampsia is back, hope the new meds work and you can keep the baby in for as long as possible. That and SPD must be really tough.

Thanks for the support Bridget

Good luck today Jelly, were you having another appt today as well Nat - if so hope it goes well and you get the info you want on getting induced early and c-section.

Hope the house viewing goes well Hayle. Though we found 2 kids in a 2-bed fine and even though we've moved to a bigger house now they are still sharing a room. They are asking when the baby can be in with them, though don't think we would fit 3, so will need to do a bit of shuffling round.

My first 2 have stayed in our room until they were about a year. At the beginning it just seemed easily for night feeds and checking on strange noises and then we got used to having them there. We had a Moses basket beside the bed for the first few months and then a smallish cot at the end of the bed.

Right, planning to sort out school uniforms and look at prams today, so better go and get organised. Hope everyone has a good day. :)

ananikifo · 12/08/2013 09:29

Jelly I hope all goes well today.

I just wanted to share my very vivid pregnancy dream from last night.

My friends had a very fancy party that DH and I went to but I went into labour. For some reason I was unconscious during the labour so I woke up with a baby, and everyone was very happy to leave me to take care of him, and I was happy too. Then I realised he hadn't been fed in a full day while I was unconscious, so I tried to breastfeed him. This is when I looked at him and realised he didn't look like a human baby but like some kind of cute baby animal. Also throughout the dream I kept wanting to post as birth announcement in Facebook but kept getting interrupted, and then at the end there were paparazzi outside where we were staying, trying to get a pic of me, DH, and baby ( like the royal family).

I think I need some non-baby hobbies. Grin

1stTimer25 · 12/08/2013 09:29

Morning everyone, blimey been off for a day and so much to catch up with!

I hope everyone who has scans/midwife apps has a good day with positive outcomes :) ... In regards to moving house I would go for it if we were in a position to, as our house is a bit on the small side and having more space etc would be a bonus, but it is very individual and only a decision you can make!

I have has 1week of mat leave and am tearing my hair out! Our nursery has been ready for ages as due to our finances we have done bit by bit throughout the pregnancy and finished everything a few weeks ago, plus the thinking was to do it all while I was still working so when I left at my planned time I wouldn't have those things to worry about! But now it is just boring! Friends and family are all at work so it's me an the dog!

I am now 32+2 and I can't believe how quickly it's gone but also having time to think about it has freaked me out! While I was working I didn't really have time to think about how soon it will all be happening and what it entails but now it's hit me like a freight train and I am scared/panicked/excited/nervous all at the same time! I think as it's first baby I have no idea what to expect from labour and birth so I can't really prepare myself, the only pain I have ever had was breaking a toe but that didn't really hurt hurt. Arrrgghhh I don't know! Has anyone felt like this?! Sorry for mammoth post just feeling a bit overwhelmed...

BowlFullofJelly · 12/08/2013 09:32

Morning all - 33 weeks today, 2 weeks left at work Smile.

Hope the scan goes well today jelly and sorry you are going through all of this worry.

Sympathy to all of those with tantrum-ing toddlers. My DS has been hellish this weekend - he seems to be on a 2 week cycle of being fairly well behaved, and then a monster. So I am all calm about having 2 for 2 weeks of the month, and then on the verge of breakdown for the rest.

Glad you had a nice holiday clapham and hope the mask fades!

I got DP working this weekend, so kitchen and hall are now painted and skirting boards etc cleaned, and all of the hall cupboards sorted out.

I'm actually finding this pregnancy about the same, maybe a little bit easier I think. I'm lucky as both have been very straightforward with no major health issues or physical complaints, and I think as I have far less time to dwell on being pregnant this time around, the little niggles are bothering me less. I'm very happy that the weather has cooled down though - not sure I would be quite as happy if the 30+ degrees had continued.

Let us know how the house viewing goes hayle - I'm in a 2 bed flat and would LOVE the opportunity to move into a 4 bed house, so very excited for you!
