Check up at Dr today. All is well. Little mermaid is growing well. Had a slightly akward moment... Dr. did vaginal swipe to test for strep-B, I hadn't expected her to do that today. She commented that it's just like visiting someones house for the first time. To which I remarked, well if I'd known you were coming I would have tidied up first. Lets just say my lady garden is rather untamed at the moment as I just can't see what I'm doing. Going to have to get DH to sort me out... Smile

Fysio right after that. Now in rather a lot of pain around pubic area. Going for a nap just now hopefully that will help.

Hello fellow May-ers

Feeling positive, the sun's out and all is well. Had a productive weekend of Ikeaing on Saturday and spent yesterday in Brugges which was fantastic. I think all the walking yesterday has caused the baby to move even further down. Feeling that there's something in my pelvis now and getting aches in my back. Must pack my hospital bags (bloody five day stay) and wash all the baby clothes sometime this week.

A friend with a newborn came over last week and DS was incredibly sweet with the baby - sharing all his best toys (you know, the really heavy ones that would cause a lot of damage if dropped on a newborn) and even trying to feed the NB one of his chocolate coins by shoving it in her mouth!

Keep smiling everyone!

36 weeks today.

TerracottaPie · 15/04/2013 12:55

Arti moxibustion and acupuncture worked for me with DC2. It may have been coincidence but as I was desperate for my homebirth with her I was willing to try anything. Think I was around 36 weeks at the time so might have just been that there was plenty of room still to turn.

Not wholly sure which way this baby is lying. MW doesn't seem concerned and I know she prides herself on not yet having a pt of hers go into labour with an undiagnosed breech. I feel most movements lower down during the day though. Big twists and alien belly happen at night by my bellybutton accompanied by the odd rib assault. But hiccups are low down. I have a fundal placenta so might just be that movements are being cushioned up there and so that's why I feel most of them lower.

beaver I have so much to do today too! I'm starting to get a bit antsy when I run through the lists in my head. I know getting them done would help with that but the sofa is too tempting! I also blame DC3 for me getting nothing done. He's far too cute and distracting :o

ng poor DD. trying to remember how the CP spots started with my older 2 when they had it but baby brain combined with it being a while ago now means I can't. Must be hard for you when you can't see your dr for advice today should you need to. Hope it's a mild case and she feels better soon.

Have I missed any updates from MooLL? Hope she and baby are ok. Obviously coming on here to update us should not be her priority but I've been wondering about them a lot.

Can't believe tomorrow is 37 weeks for me. My mood has lifted loads now that I can see the end. When I was 28 weeks and in so much pain it felt like it would never end and i was crying all the time. Things are still bloody painful but I seem to be coping much better. That said I'm not anticipating a prompt baby so there's probably around 5 more weeks left for me!

SevenReasonsToSmile · 15/04/2013 14:33

ng if you caught it now you'd be over it before baby comes therefore it couldn't catch it, and as all of the important development is done it would likely be fine, but of course get professional advice if it does turn out to be CP.

arti I've also heard being on your hands and knees is good for turning breech babies. I'm pretty certain mine has turned now as I'm getting quite a lot of low pressure, MW weds so will find out then.

beaver as long as your bag is packed I wouldn't worry too much about having a lazy day or two. If proper nesting kicks in you'll have the energy, I didnt get it with DS though.

terra no updates from mooLL, nothing from elly either since she had her DD. you're right that they'll of course have more important things to worry about, hope they're both doing ok though.

Does anyone else get a lower bump ache when they walk much?

Well I have just been to the midwife and baby is engaged. I have also have been having a lot of painful tightenings this weekend and had 3 of the tightenings while in with the midwife ! She is not sure weather I am in early labour ! I have to start to time them in case it is early labour. One expectant mama in shock here !

MammaBrussels · 15/04/2013 16:00

I just get aches 7, mainly hips and bum. Exciting news Rachy, is your bag packed? Keeping fingers crossed for you.

Boodstress · 15/04/2013 16:55

Ooooooh good luck Rachy... So exciting!

goldmaple · 15/04/2013 18:26

Keep us updated rachy !

Thought I might have exciting news to post but after rhythmic pains across the top if my bump all Saturday (in fairness they weren't like contractions) I thought something might be starting. But nothing since... Has anyone experienced anything like that? I get a lot of Braxton hicks but they are never painful.

Getting so excited to meet baby/trying to enjoying last moments of freedom:). Hope everyone starts to feel a bit better as the babies drop.

37+5 (DD was born at 38wks)

Boodstress · 15/04/2013 19:07

I was reading about that gold and its a sign of false labour apparently - pains in the middle of the bump. For someone that has never gone into labour on her own how the heck are we meant to tell the difference between false labour, BH and the actual thing. Getting exciting now though.. And kids back at school...hooray!!

Thingiebob · 15/04/2013 20:29

She commented that it's just like visiting someones house for the first time. To which I remarked, well if I'd known you were coming I would have tidied up first.

Oh that did make me laugh!

ng1412 · 15/04/2013 20:38

DD has roseola, not chicken pox. Not sure I am comforted by this as not sure if I am immune. Stressed to the max.

SevenReasonsToSmile · 15/04/2013 21:13

Sorry to hear that ng, I've never even heard of it. Hope she's better soon.

rachy how exciting, keep us posted. I guess it won't be long now until a few more start to make an appearance.

gold I've not experienced that but want to say that with DD I never actually felt proper contractions, I felt them all as just waves of extreme pressure on my cervix, I only suspected I was in labour as they were coming at regular intervals and getting worse. I had normal contractions with DS so I know what they feel like. I'm very glad I was already in hospital (being kept in for obs, routine as my waters had gone that morning and i was before 37 weeks), the MW checked and confirmed that I was dilating and machine said I was contracting. God knows what they would have said if I'd phoned and said I'm not having contractions just cervical pressures!

Is anyone thinking about reusable nappies? It's real nappy week, a lot of places have 20% off so its a good time to order. I've ordered 10 tots bots teenyfit nappies (5-12lb), enough just to use for daytime until she's big enough to wear the motherease one size nappies I've got that DD is in. I'll just use disposables for night time as I've already bought a few packs.

Hello everyone hope you are all well. I haven't had chance to catch up so ill post again soon.

Weekend was manic with moving. We had an absolute nightmare the house was filthy. So gutted as I spent ages making the old house sparkly and clean for the new tenant. We have a lot of work to do at this house. At the moment I just can't see an end to it all. I've a driving test next week and a baby coming in four weeks Shock

I was so overwhelmed with it all on Sunday I just broke down in front of DP and all his wonderful family that were helping at the new house Sad

PregnantPain · 16/04/2013 15:22

I just remembered to phone the docs to make an appointment for whooping cough jab, they've had a few cancellations with the practice nurse so my appointment is at 4pm. Surgery is a 20 minute walk and at my pace I take longer so leaving in 5-10 minutes. Eek. I hate needles! All for baby's sake this!

scooby26 · 16/04/2013 16:25

Beaut- glad you've finally moved- despite the hard work I'm sure you'll be glad ;-)

Still only 34w 4d here- seems like ages to go! I'm so hoping this one is early! ;-). Can't believe some of you are ready to go any time now! If I go 2 wks over its an unbelievable 2 mths still to go! Shock

Been trying to work out my maternity pay for when I end up on SMP- wish I hadn't - it's worse than I remember!

Artichook · 16/04/2013 20:32

Quick question for those of you who have had breech babies turn: did you know they'd turned? Having booked uber expensive moxibustion for tomorrow morn I now wonder if baby is still breech. Last night and this morning he was kicking and kicking but I didn't feel any big turn, just an unusual amount of general movement. Now tonight I can't feel his head in its usual place under my ribs. In fact I can't work our what I can feel but my bump is smaller and even DH noticed that. Is it possible for an 8 month gestation baby to turn 180 degrees with out an obvious turning sensation?????

Sisi8 · 16/04/2013 20:40

Hi all, haven't posted for ages but I have been lurking almost daily and love all the updates. My pregnancy as been so uneventful that I haven't really had good reason to post.
I do have a question today though. Midwife today said baby was lying across my tummy. She said they turn loads still at this stage...But i am pretty surehe has been like that for weeks. Do you know when they want to see baby head down? I am currently 34 weeks and five days.
When would they decide you need a Caesarian?
Any info welcome...thanks

PregnantPain · 16/04/2013 23:20

Don't know if anyone saw the thread I started. Am seeing midwife tommorow and I am not looking forward to it. Am going to ask to be assessed for SPD properly one more time and if she refuses to discuss the possibility of it and writes it off as pressure from baby without doing said assessment, I am walking out. She can refer me wherever she wants to. Honestly I hate speaking ill of anyone but ooh she doesn't half wind me up!

Boodstress · 17/04/2013 07:33

I feel your pain pregnant I'm on my theirs pregnancy and at almost 38 wks it's really kicking in. I would ignore the midwife and go and see the doctor. My doctor referred me originally. In the meantime there is quite a lot of info online re exercises and what not to be doing. Avoiding certain things is key.

Boodstress · 17/04/2013 07:33

third

Boodstress · 17/04/2013 07:37

art I think it depends how they are lying in the first place. I didn't know last time when baby moved at 38 weeks and only found out at a presenting scan on my due date. My baby is back to back head down now so I can see all the little hands and feet and would know if it moved straight away.

Artichook · 17/04/2013 11:39

Well I got to my moxibustion apt and they said baby has turned. All good news. Except his head is totally free, not engaged at all, apparently that's normal for a third baby but it means he could flip upside down again. I've so clearly got another 6-7 weeks to go. This baby ain't coming early and it's not even due for another 5 weeks.

Pain - I hope your midwife gave you a referral for SPD.

Boodstress · 17/04/2013 13:30

Great news Art ! Eat loads so it can't turn again lol

shelly81 · 17/04/2013 16:38

arti I'm exactly same went for midwife app today and she is also head down now was due to have a go at moxibustion tomorrow .... However she did say she is measuring 4 weeks ahead lol so have to go & see consultant monday ....35 & 4 ...almost there xxxx

beaver33 · 17/04/2013 16:43

rachy any news? How exciting for you - keeping everything crossed (and yet, at the same time, not crossed, IYSWIM).

Beaut I SO know what you mean re the moving stress. You have taken on an awful lot at the moment - it's a lot for a non-pregnant person - so don't feel bad about breaking down. Everyone will understand. I can't remember if you said you were buying or renting, but how crap of the old tenant/landlord/seller not to clean properly. If it's landlord-owned I'd complain if I were you and get them to pay for it to be professionally cleaned. That's the least I'd expect moving into a new property.

Take it easy on yourself, won't you? And get help. Lots of help. It will all fall into place, I promise. It just doesn't all happen at once. My hallway and living room are still stacked with boxes and the nursery hasn't been painted and is full of rubbish. So my mat leave's going to be busy...

SiSi I think they can turn any time, really. I wouldn't worry. I don't think anyone gets concerned until right up to the birth if they haven't turned and engaged.

Been having quite a bit of 'low down' pain today, both in the lower back and front. Bump feels really tight at the bottom. Sure it's just Braxton Hicks but it's the most uncomfortable it's been and verging on painful. I doubt it's contractions - am 36+2 - but I hope it's a sign that things are moving in the right direction!

But then I read your post Seven and suddenly thought, Gulp....
