Seven No I never got an apology.I don't think ill be going back after maternity leave.Im looking in to doing beauty from home but we need to move first.

Bood My first baby was 6lb6 and second was 7lb 4. I had really long labours. I hope I get a birthing pool and that its enough pain relief.

Inneed thats exactly my plan to do things with the two ds before the next one is born.I was worried about spd limiting what I can do so im going back home to stay with my mum for a week so that we can take the ds's out together.DP will join us on Good Friday.

10 that's such great news, another (big) step forwards to being able to take him home xx

Maybe, how is Alice getting on?

Yay beaut! I finish on fri too, can't wait!! Am only going through the motions now really but it is a bit of a distraction at least!

Not much to report here, have finished on the aspirin now, and next scan is on fri, and I will be having steroid injections then too - maybe & 10, any tips? I gather they hurt??
Getting a but paranoid over baby's movements though, they are much lighter and less frequent in the daytime but then it goes mental in the evening! Might go for a check later to set my mind at rest.

goldmaple · 18/03/2013 13:14

10 - Glad that Seb is eating lots and I think it's amazing you are able to BF as he was so early! Any idea when you get to take him home? Days or weeks?

Very jealous of those of you who are starting maternity leave soon. But as someone pointed out 2 of the weeks are shorter...

Everything is starting to feel a lot more real. i have just realized that i will have to go through labour again and I know it will be worth it but I'm getting a bit anxious. For those who have had a second DC, did it go better than the first time? Positive stories would be great. Also anything that was different and unexpected?

BeauticianNotMagician · 18/03/2013 13:26

Gold My second labour was ten hours longer than the first. However , everything went a lot more smoothly. Half way through I knew I was in for a long labour again so I requested a mobile epidural. The pushing stage went much better. I got an infection and so did ds but things like that can't be predicted. We had to stay in for a few days. It was lovely to get up and have a shower after birth as with my first I had a spinal block. I had a small tear but asked not to be stitched. I had no pain at all after birth and first wee despite having a year was painless. So all in all a much nicer experience.

BeauticianNotMagician · 18/03/2013 13:29

Elly I would get checked out like you say just for peace of mind. I was feeling loads of movement at night and pretty much nothing in day a few weeks back. That has now changed and he doesn't move at night that I can notice but moves occasionally in the day. Well apart from last night when DP felt like he was being kicked in the back. It was actually because baby had hiccups Smile

shelly81 · 18/03/2013 17:49

Gold I flew through my 2ns labour 4 hrs no pain relief no stitches and 10lb 2oz wopper to show for it Grin

rachywhite83 · 18/03/2013 17:56

So jealous of you girls sorting your nurseries. Im 32 weeks and have yet to move house ! Hopefully contacts will be exchanged this week then the work can start in the house.

Didn't feel up to going to work this morning so I have spent the day in bed. 7 more school get ups to maternity leave !

10 that's great to hear, you'll likely be bringing him home once we all start having babies then!

gold my first labour was 5 hours and I had pethidine, second 3 hours just with G&A as there was no time for anything else.

I got the results of my bloods from last week today and it turns out my iron is low. I was actually hoping it would be tbh as it explains why I'm so exhausted and hopefully it'll now improve as I've been prescribed tablets. I'm expecting to get an appointment sent for haemotology (sp?)though as I'm a carrier of thalassaemia (just means my red blood cells are smaller than normal) as they don't normally like carriers being prescribed iron tablets.

Did I kill the thread?

roastpotatoes · 19/03/2013 10:53

Morning all... I'm feeling a lot better and less tired now I've started taking iron tablets, seven - so hopefully you will too.

Very jealous of those of you nearing your mat leave. I still have 5 and a half weeks to go! Going to work up to 39 weeks if I can. This is my first so I really didn't know what to expect in those final few weeks, but hopefully it will be OK.

elly - how are the movements today? Did you go for a check. I hope the LO is moving lots today to reassure you.

33+2

Ellypoo · 19/03/2013 11:13

Movements seem better today Roast, thanks - I am going to go to the MW to get my blood pressure checked later (it was quite high on Friday), so will ask for a listen in to the heartbeat then. I think the baby has just moved again though, because the movements are in a different place to where they were before!! This little monkey is certainly keeping me on my toes!!!

SevenReasonsToSmile · 19/03/2013 17:10

Where is everyone today?!

roast glad to hear you're feeling better. I'll pick mine up from the chemist tomorrow. How long did they take to kick in? I had them with DD but can't remember!

elly hope your blood pressure was ok and you got some reassurance from hearing the heartbeat.

I slipped in the garden earlier and pulled a muscle in my thigh, thankfully everything else is ok and baby has been moving since. So fed up with this weather and the garden being so muddy though. Why isn't spring here yet?!

Roast, I hear you. I've still got another 6 weeks at working (and counting down!).

Got told I look heavily pregnant today by work colleague. Not bothered, just thought it was quite funny Smile I definitely have the preggo walk/waddle going on now.

Hope everyone is doing ok. I'm struggling with the interrupted sleep whilst trying to remain relatively coherent at work. Apart from that, all is ok. Was in London over the weekend and my lovely DP was helping to push me up the last few steps of the tube stations as we travelled around.

I think my LO has moved, she seems to be kicking around on my right now. Will find out on Thursday at my midwife appt.

Can't wait for Easter and some nice long sleep ins!

31+6

BeauticianNotMagician · 19/03/2013 18:45

Seven Glad you have been prescribed iron. I took mine today and I feel better already.

Elly hope you have been reassured and that everything's ok.

Moan warning. Walking home my Pelvis was hurting but bearable for the 20 min walk. However, about half way I thought my legs were going to give up. I developed a severe pain in my left calf. So bad I had to limp the rest of the way. It then dawned on me that my usually roomy boots were feeling rather snug today. I've come home and my calves and ankles are so swollen. I had this with my first although it Didnt cause pain then. It's so depressing its bad enough with a big bump without huge calves as well. I'm sitting with legs up now but it really hurts Sad

Ellypoo · 19/03/2013 18:53

Oh no beaut, that sounds horrid. Well done on walking home though!!

Yep v reassured and movements back to normal now, so v relieved. Bp was ok too.

How hard do I have to make life: needed to put some fuel in, was late leaving work for MW appt, so was rushing, but then managed to pull up on the wrong side of the pump, then had to move the car twice so that the hose could reach! Honestly, that has never ever happened before in 15 years of driving!!!!

babygeek · 19/03/2013 20:33

Oh dear Elly Grin sounds like something i would do. good news on the bp and baby movements.

Catchingmockingbirds · 19/03/2013 21:18

I think I've been relatively moan-free on this thread but ive certainly had a good moan on the others, but I'm breaking the habit tonight, sorry. I am so sore, fed up and tired. My back is killing me all the time, I'm lying on the couch close to tears at the moment. The top of my stomach permanently feels like my muscles are burning, actually burning. And I'm so tired all the time. I can't sleep at night as baby kicks all night and keeps me awake (DS didn't really move much when I was pg before so I wasn't expecting this!), I'm so uncomfy and sore in bed, I can't breathe through my nose which keeps me awake, and if I do manage to nod off I then wake up just turning over as I'm so big and sore and I need to pee about 20x a night (this could be an exaggeration...).

I've still got 10 weeks left. I don't think I've anymore room or energy for the baby to grow for another 10 weeks.

Catchingmockingbirds · 19/03/2013 21:29

Oh and I had to crawl up the stairs last night to bed because my pelvis was so sore Sad

BeauticianNotMagician · 19/03/2013 21:32

Catching Do you have Spd? Mine started off as sore under the bump and pain turning in bed.I just thought it was usual pregnancy niggles even though I didn't experience pain turning in bed with first two. Call your midwife for some advice.

My pain runs from a burning under bump, right round my thigh and into bum.I also get a stabby, achy pain in my vagina. Its worse when walking, after sitting for a while and excruitiating when turning in bed.

If its not that then warm baths and a hot water bottle should help with your aches.

BeauticianNotMagician · 19/03/2013 21:39

Sorry Catching Yes I remember now you do have it.My memory is terrible.

BeauticianNotMagician · 19/03/2013 21:41

Warm baths,my dream genii and putting my feet up are the only things helping mine I'm afraid. But I do know how you feel especially now with my swollen legs too.

Bunnychan · 19/03/2013 21:46

catching I know how you feel! Every night I'm in agony with back ache/rib ache/ tight and hard bump. My DP is really getting on my tits as he is in a right funny mood and is not being sympathetic at all because of it. I'm bored, knackered, uncomfortable and full of cold. Just over 9 more weeks to go, god help me x

Catchingmockingbirds · 19/03/2013 22:33

Yes I do beaut, it's a nightmare isn't it? I'm not really a bath person but I've been having about 4 baths a week now to try and help the pain and stiffness. I did have a water bottle I was using, it was a little kids one so half the size of a normal one but I think I gave up with it because it was tiny. I'll need to get a new one in the next couple of days and try again with it.
