How is everyone handling the tiredness? I feel like I could sleep for a week!

Has anyone started planning for the birth? I'm thinking of maybe finding out more about a water birth. Has anyone had one before?

BeauticianNotMagician · 14/03/2013 13:55

Catching Ive not had one before but I really want to try a water birth this time. Apparently with spd its the best way to give birth. I really hope there is a pool available when I go into labour

Catchingmockingbirds · 14/03/2013 14:39

Fantastic, I've been in agony through this pregnancy with pgp so will gladly welcome anything to help with that. I actually thought about trying a water birth the other night after having to lie in another bath for about the 5th time in a week because my back and pelvis were hurting so much.

Catchingmockingbirds · 14/03/2013 14:39

I wonder if I'd be able to take my radix bath salts in with me :o

Boodstress · 14/03/2013 14:45

I would love a water birth but alas planned blooming section for me. Saw midwife today- 33 was tomorrow. Very uneventful. Measured 33.5 which is marginally bigger than dates but my last two were measuring a good bit bigger at this stage. She was so matter of fact and quick about everything and I just wanted to indulge in the baby chat for a while as I won't see anyone else for 4 weeks. It seems like an age. I do however have to get past Easter which will keep me busy. Entertaining 3 & 5 yr old boys whilst heavily pregnant is not my idea of relaxation.

Sinuses still causing me so much trouble - waiting for antibiotics to kick in. I just want to sleep til they are better.

Getting v impatient with everything all over again. Confused

Boodstress · 14/03/2013 14:48

catching I have been told not to treat the PSD with heat too much but to me that's not climbing in twice a day. It's the only relief I get. I get my boys in bed by 7 every single night and run that bath 10 seconds later and soak for 30 mins. It's all I can do not to get In before going to do the school run.

Boodstress · 14/03/2013 14:48

SPD obv

InNeedofSomeSleep · 14/03/2013 15:56

I like the idea of a water birth to this time. Only thing I worry about is my husband keeps saying about the toilet thing it will all be in the water! (last time I went alot)

I have a really sore hip on one side and back, had it last time to but by 7 after looking after kids all day I'm exhausted. I been bathing every night and just relaxing and find that's really helping.

Only got till Tuesday till maternity and I can't wait, the tiredness is really getting me now all I want to do all day is lie down all day. On the plus side there is only 8 weeks to go.

MrsB76 · 14/03/2013 16:11

Hi everyone,

I'm a bit late to the party but over at the April 2013 group it is already baby arrival time! As my due date is 30 April, thought to join you ladies as well :) It will be our 3rd child, all of them girls.

shelly81 · 14/03/2013 18:46

Hi mrs we already have two gorgeous additions to this thread too Grin one of each flavour xxxx

berri · 14/03/2013 19:53

Hi all, haven't been on for ages!

seasalt what's it like being back at home? Hope your flight was ok? I'm so jealous! Have a cup of tea and some fish and chips for me :)

ng hope you're doing a bit better? Awful being away from home but at least you are seeing some people in 6 weeks - start yourself a countdown! So difficult with the little ones isn't it, I have limited patience with DS and the hormones just make it so easy to snap, which I really regret afterwards. Trying to put some of my relaxation techniques into practice and think before I speak to him to make sure we both stay calm!

I am starting to be a bit worried about coping on my own afterwards as we don't have anyone planning to visit. My friend has just had a baby and her mum flew straight out here to help - wish mine would do that :(

34 weeks today....scared!

BeauticianNotMagician · 14/03/2013 20:08

Hi Mrs welcome.

Berri You will be fine honestly.Sometimes having help is great but can often be a pain when well meaning relatives/friends try to take over. We will all still be here for advice as well. I've always used the mn boards for baby advice and support.

Anyone else have a really swollen itchy arm after there whooping cough jab

Boodstress · 14/03/2013 20:12

Berri will your OH be able to take off time? My mum has just had a new knee so she won't be visiting and MIL has hands full with FIL who is having palliative chemo so I'm a bit scared too but easier for me as I've got school mums ready to help out. I can't drive for at least 3 weeks cause of section so will need to ask anyone and everyone for help. I will hire a cleaner for a while as well.

Are you due end of April? I'm 33 weeks tomorrow and due may 3rd.. Now I'm thinking maybe I've lost a week somewhere...

Boodstress · 14/03/2013 20:14

yep beaut ,5 days of swollen red patchy impossible to lie on arm - they don't tell you that!

SevenReasonsToSmile · 14/03/2013 20:15

Hi mrsb were your girls early or late?

ng sorry you've had a bad day. Is there any chance of moving, or was it you who mentioned possibly moving back to the UK?

Glad I'm not the only one who's exhausted!

OP posts:
SevenReasonsToSmile · 14/03/2013 20:23

berri only you know how helpful your relatives would be if they were able to visit, but tbh I'm jealous that you won't have any! MIL is 78 and no help whatsoever, I can guarantee when she visits she'll sit here for over 2 hours despite "just popping round", and do nothing but moan and gossip. My parents will only be here around 30 minutes but will just expect us to make them tea while they hold and coo over the baby. With DD the only help we actually had was from a brilliant friend who turned up with a cottage pie and wasn't even bothered about trying to snatch holding DD.

Ellypoo · 14/03/2013 20:49

We are lucky that both our families live close by, so some will make us meals, and others (my mum & sis) will be around to help with washing, looking after the baby etc - we are all close though so don't think there'll be a problem with just asking them to leave if I need to lie down with baby or anything.

Had lunch with my friend and her 4 month old dd today - was really lovely to have a catch up & cuddles!!

Lovely warm baths are helping me to keep going too, although our bath is quite deep so I'm struggling a but getting in & out!!!

Scan again tomorrow - hopefully all still ok.

32+2 and really counting down the days - I'm so glad that section is scheduled for 36+1, I don't think I could cope going to 40+ wks, either physically or mentally!!

MrsB76 · 14/03/2013 20:54

SevenReasons, both like clockwork, I think 40 weeks or 40 plus 1-2 days. So I am guessing May, unless I overdo the housework Smile

Do you have a stats thread with due dates? I wonder who my buddies are Smile

SevenReasonsToSmile · 14/03/2013 21:45

stats thread. It may not be that accurate though as we've had a few namechanges recently, and baby Alice isn't on there yet.

I'm not on there either but I can't add myself to it coz I use mumsnet on my phone. So annoying.

InNeedofSomeSleep · 14/03/2013 22:14

Figured it out and managed to add myself. Took me ages tho silly phone!

SeaSalt1 · 14/03/2013 22:42

Hello everyone! Thanks to all of you who asked after me, it's really lovely of you. The flight was long but good - I was upgraded to business thanks to a BA pilot friend - so lucky. It was good to be able to put my legs up and have a sleep, I think all pregnant ladies should automatically be upgraded - not keen to return to economy now...

It's lovely being home but strange too. We've had a whirlwind week seeing family, dealing with jet lag and moving house to North London. I hadn't seen the flat before we moved in (it belongs to a relative), but it's lovely, I'm not going to want to leave. Though it is a temporary arrangement I think we'll be very happy here. The cherry on the cake was finding the local swimming pool is a 5 minute walk away and I can buy unlimited swims for about £30 a month. I was going to miss swimming so much after Singapore so this is just fantastic (tumble turns are getting harder and harder though - I'm way too buoyant now...).

No-one in the London office has seen me pregnant so I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by the attention and questions, but it's ok. They'll see plenty more of me as I still have another 10 weeks of work to go (very jealous of those of you going on mat leave soon!).

I have loved keeping up with all your news - keep posting. Thinking of all of you who are ill or finding life difficult at the moment. Am still celebrating S and A's arrivals, they are both gorgeous!

29+2

Catchingmockingbirds · 14/03/2013 23:35

berri I couldn't think of anything worse than having someone there during those first few days/weeks. I'm looking forward to the alone time with DS and my newborn. You'll manage just fine Smile

goldmaple · 15/03/2013 00:37

Hi ladies:)

Haven't posted in weeks but wanted to de-lurk to say I'm so glad Alice and Seb are doing well! Any recent updates 10?

I also need to have a moan! Even reading all these posts I know I don't have as much going on as some of you ladies but still feeling very sorry for myself. Sickness has come back, not sure if its a bug but I've had to take 2 days off work. I am supposed to work until 37 weeks (so 4 more!) and I'm so tired I have no clue how ill make it. Then to top everything off DH is not being very sympathic. Apparently working for 8 hours is harder than being sick and heavily pregnant watching a 16 month old!!

Beaver - was so excited when you mentioned you've paid off your student loans!! That's amazing! Mine are going but slowly... I dream of the day they are gone!

Mrs - I'm due may 1st so probably your closest due date buddy. With DD I went at 38 wks though... Wouldn't mind that again:)

33+2

lollypopsicle · 15/03/2013 09:06

Hello Ladies, I'm not feeling as moany today Grin.
Beaut I've been necking the gaviscon since xmas. It's been keeping the heartburn under check until the last couple of weeks. I have bottles of the stuff dotted around the house for easy access and keep the sachets in my bag. I was like this last time so not a surprise, really. When DS was born it was sooooo nice not to have that heartburn; it went straight away.

Seven I'd love to start mat leave earlier but I want to have as much time with the bubs as possible too so I really want to make it to 37 weeks otherwise I'd have to go back earlier than I hope to due to lack of money.

I went to the docs yesterday and she signed me off for 2 weeks which will take me up to Easter hols and mean I only have 3 weeks of work left after Easter. It feels really odd to not be going to work for a while. I've never had a sick note before and feel pretty depressed about it TBH. The doc said I just have to accept it and that no-one is indispensable. She's right, of course.

Welcome home seasalt. And welcome to the thread, mrsB
