Congrats peanut sounds a wonderful birth nice and straight forward hope the recovery is going well. I love the name Cara too one of my good friends is called Cara or would have been a choice for us x

plonko · 07/03/2013 09:35

Good to know it's not just me making a meal of things Leni! I'm so clumsy these days, I keep tripping over the Moses basket Shock and then getting really upset in case I keep doing it when there's a sleeping baby in it!

Christi I'm also having a sweep today since the one a week ago failed. Now 40+8 and feeling fine but with a bit of a delicate tummy today. I think we have to discuss the possibility of induction today - they'll want to do it on Monday if it comes to that. Eeek!

How was the curry, Stormy? Any effect?

plonko · 07/03/2013 09:37

P.S Congratulations Peanut, and SoYo sounds like your little family is getting along great!

StormyBrid · 07/03/2013 09:58

39+6, still no baby.

Intermittent contractions yesterday. Curry was excellent. Contractions continued throughout the night. At least, I assume they're contractions - what else could it be? I already tested the "could just be wind?" theory with several big poos. Have had bugger all sleep, which is promising, because don't they say if you can sleep through it you're not really in labour? So I've got my fingers crossed for her being right on time, but we shall see. I do not want to go a week overdue!

tiddleypompom · 07/03/2013 10:39

Hello everyone! I haven't posted here for a few months now but was there at the start & for the first six threads - I promised to update once baby was born so here it goes:

Sebastian James was born at Ludlow maternity unit on 2nd March at 03:15am weighing 7lb 14oz. Straightforward labour on g&a with an established stage lasting 1 hour - 9 mins faster than his older brother. Happily b/feeding is going well & he has already regained birthweight. We are home & juggling a newborn and 17 month old is hectic but lovely.

Best wishes to everyone on the thread but especially those I 'met' here when we had all just peed on sticks back in June. Congratulations to all the new mums & best of luck to those still pregnant, hope the time comes soon.

Over & out!

plonko · 07/03/2013 17:37

Congratulations, Tiddly. Your labour sounds lovely, glad it all went smoothly for you.

Stormy I hope those feelings turn into something!

Well I feel like an utter turkey. For my months worth of niggles and TWO false starts in the last week, my midwife was yet again unable to do a sweep. Induction booked for Sunday. I cried like a small child, and even surprised myself! I'm no longer jealous of those with elcs of induction dates, instead I'm suddenly terrified! DP has been a saint this afternoon but I feel he may be running out of niceness...

Oodsigma · 07/03/2013 17:41

Hi everyone.
Baby Ood was a boy ( after 3 girls!) and was born at 9:41 this am. 8lb !

OP posts:
StormyBrid · 07/03/2013 18:15

Congrats, Ood!

Between 11am and 2pm, contractions every seven minutes or so. Then they slowed down, so I went for a lie down with a packet of biscuits and Adrian Mole. Spent an hour in bed with pain every seven minutes again. Gave up, got up. Now on every four to six minutes. Hurts, but not agonisingly so, and only lasts about 30 seconds each time. Baby book suggests by this frequency they should be lasting longer? At any rate, have a sneaking suspicion tonight will be the night. One of my birthing partners is at work and the other is missing, presumed hungover. I think it may be time to track one of them down soon...

Positive thinking, plonko - this time next week you'll definitely have a baby, right? As for the crying, blame it on the hormones!

SoYo · 07/03/2013 19:28

Ood massive congratulations! Hope you're starting to recover well.

Stormy sounds very promising!!! Better track down those birth partners!

PlonkoI wept when I realised they were keeping me in to induce me & I wouldn't go home without an induction and a baby! Completely normal reaction to be scared! I have say my induction wasn't anywhere near as bad as I had feared! Try to enjoy the last few days of long baths, films, taking your time to eat dinner & sleeping for more than 45mins at a time!

I spoke too soon yesterday, had an hours sleep last night! Not ideal & haven't managed to nap today so feel like a complete zombie. Started loosing it a bit with very sore nipples, cluster feeding & feeling like I can't settle her & should be able to so cried a lot last night. Feeling much better today though. Fingers crossed for tonight!

eigmum · 07/03/2013 19:30

Congrats ood I am panicking and trying not to google what can go wrong ! Glad you are ok ad it's a boy!

eigmum · 07/03/2013 19:46

Good luck stormy , sounds soon, will cross my fingers for you!

christilass · 07/03/2013 19:58

I'm 40+4 went for sweep to midwife at 10am this morning it was unsuccessful , she then found my blood pressure to be up . she sent me to maternity hospital for bp monitoring and baby to be monitored ..... baby is fine .but back to back !
my blood. pressure was still up after monitoring so they have kept me in , started me on blood pressure tablet and are going to Induce tomorrow morning .
My DH has just went home we are both very tired and shocked at how fast things change . I'm feeling very lost and lonely without him . x

eigmum · 07/03/2013 20:33

Hey christilass you will be fine, just try and get some sleep ( easy for me to say as I lie here in a panic about tomorrow but as people keep saying to me you are in the right place and looks like there should be two more babies tomorrow...

plonko · 07/03/2013 22:27

Ood congratulations! Christi and Stormy sounds like not long to go! Get your birth partner on standby! Have you called assessment stormy?

SoYo sounds tough but I'm glad you're in better spirits now, if still dog tired. Has the utter joy and love for baby Orla just helped you get over all the tough bits? Tbh that's the part that scares me, being tired and emotional and having to look after something so vulnerable. But it's lovely to hear encouraging stories.

So after all that I went to have a bath to calm down, took some paracetamol for a headache and then realised the headache had gone, but the period pain remained. And then unmistakably had a show! So maybe ill avoid induction after all...fingers crossed!

eigmum · 08/03/2013 04:25

Oh plonko sounds like it might be all go for today! Heading to the hospital now myself and hoping all will go fine. Will post later . Good luck stormy and plonko and chrislass could be a busy international women's day on the marchers mumsnet board!

pudtat · 08/03/2013 08:24

Couldn't it just eig - good luck all those who will hopefully meet their little ones today. May it all go smoothly and painlessly.

bbface · 08/03/2013 09:27

An early poster here...

Our baby girl was born wed afternoon. Straightforward birth, very fast. Second timers take note!

As I write this, baby girl feeding and doing an enormous poo at same time. Heaven on earth.

Good luck to all xxxx

theshooglypeg · 08/03/2013 09:36

Congrats to all who've had their babies! Today is my due date, but I don't think there will be any action, can't feel anything yet.

FurryFox · 08/03/2013 10:40

Wow lots going on here Smile

Congrats bbface, glad everything was straightforward and quick! Enjoy those new born snuggles.

Christillas - good luck with the induction. Can be worrying how quickly things change but you're in the best place and hopefully you'll have your baby soon.

Fingers crossed things are happening for you stormy and hope you've managed to get hold of one of your birth partners!

Plonko hope things will happen for you soon as well now you've had your show. Fingers crossed!

Good luck eigmum. Hope all goes smoothly for you today.

Due date here today and feeling very disheartened that nothing is happening. First two dc were both induced at 40+14 so I don't know why I thought this time would be any different Hmm.

StormyBrid · 08/03/2013 11:32

Zoë arrived at 1.15am, weighing 7lbs 14oz. At the risk of you all killing me in a fit of jealousy, it was a doddle.

Was expecting to get to the hospital and be told I was only just getting started, and was a bit worried about how much more painful it could get. Went in about half past eleven and was 8cm dilated already! My sister cut the cord while the man tried not to faint. Midwives finally let us escape at 10am.

I feel like I've been run over by a truck...

FurryFox · 08/03/2013 12:09

Oh my goodness stormy well done you, huge congratulations. Sounds like a wonderful experience and glad you are home already. Take it easy! I won't lie, I am very Envy of you!

FurryFox · 08/03/2013 12:12

And today was your due date I think stormy! Even more Envy as its my due date too and no sign whatsoever!

StormyBrid · 08/03/2013 13:35

Aye, Little Miss Punctuality, this one. Handy, as I'd got the 8th firmly lodged in my brain, would've been far too much effort to remember a different date instead! Reckon it was the pineapple chunks on Monday that got things started - first sporadic and fairly mild contractions were just after eating that. Give it a try? Can't hurt. Smile

Going to give this boob thing a try shortly. Bit apprehensive as there's no midwife here to manhandle my nipples...

FurryFox · 08/03/2013 13:58

Stormy I am so impressed that you are home and managing to mumsnet so soon! Might give the pineapple a try though I did that with my first two and didn't do anything, can't hurt to try though like you say Smile. I'm currently on my ball but not finding it very comfy.

Good luck with the feeding, I really struggled with my two, its not always easy. Don't put too much pressure on yourself Smile.

christilass · 08/03/2013 16:29

Nurse inserted the Propess at 9Am this morning , oh it was and is still sore down there .
it has not triggered anything so far , they keep it in for 24 hours then insert a gel inducing can't remember its name !
My Bp. is still high.... I'm 40+4 now.

congratulatons to you all for your safe arrivals x
