Congrats SoYo and Emsy .... Just a week to go for me now. emsy your story brings back all my memories from last time, so glad you are ok. I know my consultant is fab so hoping all will be ok for me again and this time next week I'll be recovering in hospital with a new baby! Yikes!

Morning all! Finally on maternity leave and 37 weeks today! Not so much as a card from my team, bit gutted, but don't care today!

My birthing pool is coming on Monday and the midwife is coming to do homecheck on Tuesday, so hopefully I can go into natural labour before 41+4 and I can have my homebirth, apparently ambitious for my first, but I am a 3 minute blue light from the hospital. We don't have MWLU, birthing pools, active birth rooms, a good reputation, can't do a tour... so thought best to start off at home and try and stay there!

So nice to see so many babies born already, we'll soon all have babes not bumps, hoorah!

pudtat · 02/03/2013 10:11

Blimey - thick and fast! Huge congrats to all new mum's and small ones. Would love to hear how it all went when you have a mo (so in about 3 years then!)

Still hanging in here (and need to for a while yet really though there is part of me that just can't wait to be comfier now, even if that does involve going through labour!). One more week of work to go (am so ready to stop now!) and then get house sorted. Had big plans for today until DH got a call reminding him he'd signed up for an extra shift at work today (extra £ handy) so he had to go haring in late. As I can't do much on my own (involves shifting boxes and furniture) I think we will have to write it off a bit which is a shame. Will go and peer at things and see if I can shuffle small things myself and make even a little progress in a mo.

LO was quite quiet yesterday (though I had a manic day and was rather distracted) but then went through some real contortions last night and seems to have dropped even further this morning. There is a gap under my boobs again which I haven't seen for weeks... Not 37 weeks til Tuesday, so he better not be getting any ideas.

Thanks for all birthday wishes, had a really nice day although DH present made me cry - a notepad for me to write down 50 things I want to do and can't which I can claim back over the next year and he will organise. He's started me off with promises to cook some of my favourite dishes (like scallops etc) and making it possible for me to visit a local country house hotel for afternoon tea with a girlfriend sometime. He suggests I pick places to go, chance to wallow in baths, walks to take, food to eat - anything which requires a bit of organising he promises to make happen. Very sweet indeed.

eigmum · 02/03/2013 10:38

Morning pudcat your dh sounds great, hang on to him! Lovely present. ood are you also a c section on the 8th? We'll have to compare recovery notes. What hospital are you in? I know 6 more sleeps is a bit scary, must pack hospital bag this weekend!! sundae I didn't get anything from my work either but to be honest didn't really want the fuss!

All very uncomfortable now so glad the end is in sight ...

theshooglypeg · 02/03/2013 10:56

Congratulations everybody who has had their baby! I am still hanging on, 39 +1 today and feeling a bit left out as 4 out of the 6 women in my NCT class have already had their babies, even though the first due date was yesterday! But it will happen soon enough and I'm sure I'll look back and wish I'd made more of my last days before baby.

Oodsigma · 02/03/2013 11:11

eig am on 7th. 4th section & SPD so don't expect a normal recovery here!

OP posts:
eigmum · 02/03/2013 12:50

ood good luck on the 7th. This is my second, my first was because of placenta previa and like emsy I lost lots of blood etc. hoping this one will be better but they aren't keen to let me go any further than the 8 th so booked in for 7am... I am suddenly really exhausted and just can't get going today. Trying not to worry about it all , will just ave to be brave. Smile

Oodsigma · 02/03/2013 12:52

I'm more worried about the stay in than the op. I get v stressed in hospital and am dependant on people bringing me food etc. worried this time will be harder due to wheelchair/crutches.

OP posts:
eigmum · 02/03/2013 13:52

Gosh yes, that sounds tough. I am also less worried about the op but found the aftercare last time patchy ... Have to stay at least two nights though and probably more likely 3 .. SPD sounds awful. I hope it all goes well for you and you don't have t say in too long.

Oodsigma · 02/03/2013 13:58

We are supposed to have 3 nights , I'm aiming for 2 , will have more help at home.

Just saying hello! Its d date for me today. I just want my little dude here!!

shieldbug · 02/03/2013 20:54

welcome, something. Is this your first?

gummi how's things? Hope your baby has jiggled itself round the right way. Yes, it was me! I thought perhaps I saw you, but was called before I plucked up the courage to say anything!

ood not long now. Good luck, and hope the hospital stay is brief and actually a nice one. Seems like you might beat me this time round too, as I doubt mine will be born by the 7th. Have you heard anything from tribble, the third member of the October 2010 trio?

eig good luck for the 8th. Hope all goes well again.

soyo congratulations! Welcome to baby Orla, who sounds like she gave you a difficult time.

sarah so glad to hear of the safe arrival of Inigo. Congratulations and great you are home now.

pudtat your dh sounds like a real romantic. What a fabulous birthday pressie.

39+3 here and soooo uncomfortable. Kept waking up with pains in the night, but unfortunately they were a combo of wind (yeuch) and fibroids, rather than good pains iyswim. Had some good BH today, but I'd be very surprised if anything happens in the near future. Still have a horrid cough and ds pats me on the back and says, ok mummy? take medicine now? He's such a little sweetheart.

Oodsigma · 02/03/2013 21:06

shield tribble is still waiting, thinks she's 40+1 ish, niggly but still waiting.
Ouch on the fibroids :(

Hi all, not posted in ages! I'm just up with my beautiful baby girl who was born on Wednesday by elective section, weighing 7 lb 5 oz. We've called her Esther. She was in scbu for a few days as she had a terrible first few hours, had to be resuscitated twice in theatre, given oxygen etc. she didn't half give us a fright. Good news is that we're all fine, I'm recovering well, a bit sore/tender, but breastfeeding is well established and we're getting home tomorrow (well, later today I suppose). Big brother is delighted with his baby sister :)

eigmum · 03/03/2013 16:41

Hey backward congratulations! I am dreading that happening too but hopefully it will be fine and glad to hear its all worked out and big brother is delighted. Hopefully will be the same in the end here ( maybe without the scary bit) !

christilass · 03/03/2013 19:05

I'm due tomorrow , had no signs since wednesday when i was up all night with period pain . feeling great , still very calm and laid back .

SoYo · 03/03/2013 20:15

Congratulations Backward, glad Esther's doing well now after her initial scare!

Good luck all those that are niggling away, hope some more babies make a safe appearance soon.

I'm a little shell shocked at the effects of sleep deprivation here, was expecting night shifts to prepare me in some way! All she does is scream all night and will only settle laid on one of us! Fell asleep last night while she was on my tummy & woke up in mad panic that something was going to happen! Think part of it is because my milk wasn't in until today so I'm hopeful she might improve a bit & let us get at least a tiny bit of sleep. Luckily she's gorgeously edible so I can't hold it against her!

Looking forward to hearing of more arrivals. As much as recovering from an episiotomy isn't too much fun, it's not as bad as I thought & it's lovely being able to move around a lot more freely & lie on my front finally!

eigmum · 03/03/2013 20:55

Hey SoYo the sleep deprivation is tough but it will be better and she sounds fabulous... Yes lets hope for more safe arrivals this week... Yes, can't wait to be able to move about more and turn over without needing a pick up truck!

JoJoBella84 · 04/03/2013 01:41

Morning ladies,
Baby Samuel (8lbs4oz) arrived safely by c-section yesterday at 1.30pm following 48 hours of induced labour.
He is delicious, has only fed once so far, choosing instead to sleep :)
I'm sure it won't last ;)

eigmum · 04/03/2013 05:13

Congrats joJo on baby Samuel, what a lovely name. Hope you are getting some sleep!

Tuppers85 · 04/03/2013 07:11

Hi all, I have been following this thread with interest but haven't posted before. Joel arrived on Friday (38 weeks) by EMCS after 24 hours of induced labour due to suspected ruptured membranes. He weighed 10lb 5oz!

Oodsigma · 04/03/2013 07:21

Wow tupper big boy! Bet you're glad you didn't go over.

OP posts:
pudtat · 04/03/2013 07:23

Congrats to JoJo and Tupppers following your inductions. Sounds like the end result justified the means for both of you - and lovely names. (Starting to get nervous as sizes increase though!).

A couple of quiet days had me calling the midwife yesterday, (I am 37 weeks tomorrow) and she decided there was no need to worry, just to make sure I had my bag packed as it sounded like he was on his way! Cue flat panic at this end, (although hospital bag for Mini now totally packed and mine done bar the snacks and drinks which I must shop for today). Also some washing done, our spare room revamped to allow for moses basket to be erected (awaiting delivery of mattress sometime in next couple of days though!) and nursery massively closer to being cleared ready for decorating. DH was brilliant, if nervous!. Still, hope I have a little while longer yet, so fx. Mind you, don't think I'll be making past tomorrow at work this week - reckon they've had that now.

Hope all goes smoothly for those supposed to be doing things now! Not long to wait for any of us really... (remind me of this when I'm 40+10 will you?)
